  1. I used to mist water into a running engine to steam clean carbon deposits.💡 You can also spray MMO in through the carb. Those valves are opening and closing quite quickly (at 600 rpm, 300x a minute, or 5 times a second) It will loosen varnish and other deposits, while smelling minty fresh! 😆
  2. I made a post, but it got lost in the ether. Musk is not worthy. I'm not going to delve too deep into my opinions. But Space-X is a perfect example. Gwynn Shotwell and Jim Bridenstine are perfect examples of letting geeks have their head.
  3. Now that 4 TB micro SD cards are a thing I think I have to get one for my truck. Thanks Vivek!
  4. He didn't start anything! He bullied a bunch of geeks out of their company, when they were making electric cars from Lotuse's Guy was born with a silver spoon in his mouth, and he has the sense of entitlement that comes along with it. I'd take the Lightning any day over some stupid futuristic toy for tech bro's That said, I'd Love a DeLorean! (with a bunch of 'upgrades'. 😉)
  5. Sounds like you've already got it sussed! A random seat cushion and a really sharp carving knife would fix you up. 👍 I'd suggest cutting on the diagonal, so there's no hard seam and pressure from above doesn't make it want to come loose. Cardboard is still a good (prophylactic) measure.

  7. Congrats! I’m curious about its autonomy with and without hauling. How is it going when pulling a 3 horses trailer… would be interested to see the difference. Keep us informed! PS.: Thinking about naming this Bullnose worthy descendant? It's almost like Alphabet took* over Tesla... https://arstechnica.com/cars/2024/04/tesla-to-lay-off-everyone-working-on-superchargers-new-vehicles/
  8. Sorry to hear your seat had a bad day Larry. I'm going to offer some unsolicited advice, and it's worth exactly what you have to pay for it. 😉 A few years back, when I was in VT I redid my '87 seat using a Bullnose kit from our friends at LMC. I know that vinyl has gotten out of hand, as the illusive Nauga has become an endangered species. (Naugahyde originates from the US Rubber plant , right here along the Naugatuck river in New Haven county) I've been screwing with seats and foam since the mid-70's when we used to carve our motorcycle seats out with the Thanksgiving electric carving knife and glue them back together with Super 88. My eldest niece's father was a 3rd generation upolsterer who sadly passed while riding his Harley a few years back. The 'springs' in these seats are really tempered bars with a zig-zag to allow for some suspension. You may find your build sheet tucked up under the driver's side....💡 Over time they cut into the foam, and they break off the seat frame. You can weld them back, but they need a 'splint' for reinforcement. You can lay a piece of cardboard over the springs to help the foam out, and keep it above the springs. I found an old boat cushion and spray glued some on to help out the crushed bolster where I got in and out all the time. Pink corner bead spray adhesive from the drywall section of your local big box works great for this -and headliners- and it's relatively cheap compared to the bigger cans of foam rubber adhesive. I'm sorry, I don't have a source for an inexpensive cover for you, but if you go with vinyl a heatgun set on warm will help a lot getting the wrinkles out and filling in the corners while you pull it into place. I hope it goes well for you! Seems you can't catch a break with that truck sometimes....
  9. Glad you (and the truck) are back Will! How was your view of the eclipse? Here in coastal CT there was broken clouds and haze, but it did get kinda dark around 15:00 local time. What's your next step? Edit: Jeff from Quebec is doing a 3G as well. You might glean some good tips from his thread....
  10. There's good reasons why I don't want to deal with society, at all...
  11. You definitely need thread sealant on those bolt holes that go through to the crankcase. BTDT, BTTS....
  12. I will absolutely give the acetone a try, especially in some areas not easy to reach. Many thanks. Let me know how it goes. My father was director of engineering at a number of plastics plants, and the acrylic in house paint is no different than a sheet of Plexiglass. Methacrylate monomer (Momo) can be catalyzed and polymerized a few different ways, but they all will dissolve. Better solvents like MEK, Methylene Chloride and other 'slower' solvents have more time to bite, but even simple starting fluid (diethyl ether) will cut it... and evaporate instantly leaving no trace.
  13. I usually have stuff like that hot tanked, but there aren't any machine shops anymore....
  14. Welcome Gabe! I was excited to see your ne email address. Tell us about your best friend there....
  15. Acetone will wipe acrylic house paint off like rinsing mud off with water. It's available anywhere because it isn't considered a VOC. For something less harsh KrudKutter makes a latex paint removal product, I think the blue label... which will dissolve dried house paint. You need to keep it wet, so you can cover it with Saran wrap, and it will stay most of the day. Then use a hose and plastic scour pad to rinse the sludge off. 💡 You can't hurt the factory paint with this method. Krud Kutter 336249 Latex Paint Remover, 24 Fl Oz https://a.co/d/isx61EB
  16. Latin may be arcane, but it is a good language to know. Many idioms are really useful. Consice and succinct I'm rather into the great Stoics, Seneca, Aurelius and Epictetus.
  17. I find it very odd that I would bump into an Onan generator. I think I need to find an un-rusted tank for my friend James. 💡
  18. James had a bad ground connection at the GM side post battery cable. But he has a BRAND NEW 2,000W inverter installed in his P30!! I really love life when I can pay it forward and shake someone's hand!
  19. It needs to run the pump for the hand sink.... How's yours working?
  20. A temporary solution that works, is likely permanent! This is my friends ice cream truck. I'm here to install my surplus Horrid Fate inverter, because James' died.
  21. You can get laminated shims and just peel them off until you get the pre-load you want/need. 💡😉
  22. I'm so glad this is worked out for you, Jonathan! My autism may make me very pedantic and detail-oriented, but in this case I think it's important. Place bolts are "The Right Stuff" That motorcycle lift is going to be a godsend putting the transmission under your truck!
  23. Lol! But seriously, take care! It needs a healthy guy to complete this heavy rear axle rebuild. Pinion shims incoming! I'm broke as a joke because I can't work....
