  1. We appreciate that. It puts Gary at ease when he knows everybody has acknowledged the guidelines. I can't say I've ever seen a tag glued in place. Here where I live the main DMV office can emboss a replacement VIN and they are adhesive foil, so get destroyed if peeled off. I'm not sure what the rules are where you reside.
  2. Welcome! Glad you've joined.
  3. Congratulations Bob! Seems like it ticks all the right boxes. I don't know what to tell you about the brake controller, trailers are problematic when they're empty. I actually much prefer surge brakes but those are a thing of the past
  4. And now Dell has announced that their XPS laptop line will have a (non- reprogrammable) CoPilot key. Where will this stupidity end? (you don't really need to answer that)
  5. I was just acknowledging that you don't trust your crimping skills.... Keeping the loom colours correct definitely helps identifying things at a glance. Buying a (good) dedicated crimper goes a long way to making a solid connection. It doesn't have to cost a small fortune.
  6. No need to be sorry. 🙂 I just didn't want you to think that you were getting a harness, that didn't need crimping, and all the rest of it.
  7. What "pre-built" harness are you talking about? To the best of my knowledge Painless only offers a KIT. Because they would have to make different ones for 300, 400/351M, 460, 302+351W and the odd little V-6 (I forgot it's displacement).
  8. Things have come a long way from when Internet Explorer was only used to download Firefox!
  9. I only did about 400 yesterday... Slogging back to the shop right now. 🌅 I hope you and Janey* have a safe trip! (damn autocorrect) Again the computer in my pocket is "smarter" than me!!! 😖
  10. Did you see the crypto king who is evidently a figment of an AI imagination? https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2024/01/crypto-hedge-fund-ceo-may-not-exist-probe-finds-no-record-of-identity/ https://youtu.be/6HZ8jzsUjvo?si=iAEaH1jKcHqvwG6G
  11. But, but,..,... It's the latest and greatest¡.
  12. Which connectors do you need? You can get decent ones pretty cheap. IIRC I was able to put together a DS-II harness: horseshoe, both module connectors and distributor for under $15 (modifying the one distributor socket) back on FTE. There was a member from NH (pistonhonda?) That had spent a fortune on an aftermarket version of ChryslerDodge ignition and needed to back off the dwell because it was eating coils.

  15. Hm, I'll look into the pertronix, never heard of that. I'm just praying she'll fire up so I don't have to bust out the come along. Maybe if i play two dozen roses and give her a squirt of fresh fuel. If it's been 7 years I'd expect you need a new battery. Bring a little fresh fuel and a way to get it down the vent tube of the carb. If it ran before it should run now (short of being seized or something)
  16. Members map, is that like a contact book? I truly know nothing about forums except how to chat back and forth. I totally agree about points. I've been flirting with the idea of HEI and even the holley sniper kit, but I'll burn that bridge when I get to it. Starting a thread sounds fun, I'll definitely give that a shot! There's a lot that could be done, the truck is bare bones, I was genuinely surprised that any of the lights even operated. In the Bullnose Forum drop-down at the upper left of the page you'll see "members map" You can see where members are (those that choose to be there) There's nothing wrong with a Pertronix module to replace points and leave the rest, if it's functional. HEI is the all-in-one solution, but you really need a relay and dedicated power circuit. Those GM modules are power hungry.
  17. Thanks! I have no such ignition system. The dipstick that installed the 351 prior to me went with points, which I'm not complaining about. The simplicity was appreciated, especially by the 17yo version of me. I do enjoy a tootsie pop every now and again! Points are simple. I just don't like looking after them. With a setup like that we're going to have to dig up a schematic from the very early 1970's. Gary will be along to ask if you'd like him to add you to our members map. If you have questions it's best to start a new topic on the main page. If you want to document your progress start a thread in the Projects heading.
  18. I'm really not familiar with ignition coils that have noise suppression built in. Most plug wires today have suppression built in. You can always try it without. Probably shouldn't make a huge difference unless you like listening to AM radio. Not a big deal to add it after the fact. I know I did on my truck.
  19. Welcome to you & Violet! We have a lot of knowledgeable members and documentation. I'm pretty sure we can help you figure it out. Duraspark systems are pretty simple. The Kojack thing.....I can't help seeing you sucking a Tootsie Pop.
  20. Would you consider a polka dot cowl from a bricknose? If you really want the slots Gary did a writeup in Dad's Truck thread (maybe back on FTE)
  21. The condenser is stock. As Dane said 'radio noise capacitor' Highlighted on the lower right.
  22. The tabs especially! I have to admit I have more than one zip tie in my harness.
