  1. Has anyone ever tried using stick welder rod for gas filler? I suppose I could buy a few pounds of rod, but I have dozens of pounds of electrode in the Super Duty that are going to be scrapped.
  2. Today I picked up a little oxy/acytalene setup. It had been sitting outside for a LONG time. I cleaned up the cart and picked up some new hose at HF. I get gas for free so I swapped the B tank and the 60 for fresh fills. I have a torch set on order from eBay. Given that I have no real electricity (800W 2stroke generator) the ability to heat, cut and fuse is a huge step in the right direction.
  3. Gary, I'm trying to find time and a scale to get your parts sorted and back to FedEx. Sorry, things have been really busy.
  4. Half *truck*....Did auto correct screw me up? Doors and windshield all *fit* but are different from '80-96/7. ie the vent window changed and the VIN moved so the painted bezel on the windshield moved with it (but the glass is the same. The corner he needs should be the same. On Nov 3, 2017 4:34 PM, "Gary Lewis [via Bullnose Enthusiasts]" <redacted_email_address> wrote:
  5. Gary, I think I want to give Theo the wrecker driver the cab of the Super Duty. Would you be willing to cut a roof piece from your 1/2 truck and send it to Oz?
  6. Haven't had time in daylight Gary. Still running today....
  7. I told you what 'some other process' should be! What don't you understand?
  8. My '87 truck definitely has a 5/8 line nut on there. Looks like someone tried to get the leak to stop and tore the threaded portion right off
  9. Sorry, I don't know anything but what I've seen. I do not have a optical drive to look at the manuals. The FRPP pan comes with the T-handle.
  10. Loop handle = ferrule oil pan attachment T-handle= push in. The front oil pan bolt holes in the timing case became bigger at some point, but I don't know when.

  12. I like hazing by dunking. If they admit they're a witch burn them at the stake. If they drown, they *were* a witch. If they survive they can join. No, really I'd go for #3 because we are aware that spam bots can all pass a Captcha now. But if they pass Gary's Turing test they might as well be in
  13. Gary, It works on both T-19 and Zf. As you know I *just* replaced mine with an all metal unit from Amazon. Never again the plastic crap with no real bleeder nipple. But *now* I'm sitting on the late model one from the Superduty, which has a braided stainless hose and an aluminized heat boot. Up for sale because I don't have room for spares anymore.
  14. Dont forget the little inline vacuum restrict (VREST) or you will lose the overheat function of the three port thermal vacuum switch on the water neck. I'm not really worried about what to do when mine fails. I'll just dig under the seat for the nib spare and plug it in. I don't even bother to bolt it into place until I get where I was going
  15. Use the 5 pin out of an Oldsmobile and you can retain the spark retard while cranking....
  16. Thank you. And thanks for sharing everything you know!
  17. I'm not a super mechanic, just a guy who's been there. If I can share, I will.
  18. Here's a Zf case for under $200 delivered. https://m.ebay.com/itm/ZF-5-Speed-ZF5-Gas-Case-460-97-F450-/162561439545?_trksid=p2385738.m2548.l4275&_mwBanner=1
  19. They are probably the same, but they are probably shot too, and you would have to cut them out.
  20. Stock on an OMC King Cobra.... Where are yours? Are you going to use the orange silicone lifetime gaskets like me?
  21. 250 shackles fit up into the frame horns and have a tiny little bushing at the front (top) end. The kit has the link with bushings bonded in and new bolts (because you're going to have to CUT it out. Still $120 my cost -almost- 2 retail. I need both sides. Yet I get a rear spring perch hanger and shackle kit with bolts for $45. Wtf?
  22. Keeping it 'stockish' is good because down the line you can always get parts for that application. Even if I have a '92 Taurus 3.8l alternator, a 1986 E350 power steering pump, and a 2002 Altima fuel filter.
  23. FD476 It is under $19 on RockAuto, and $22.13 Amazon Prime. So, a better deal without RA's outrageous shipping/handling, and there's no hassle returns from the big A. Something has changed though. Mine is blue and made in Mexico. Now black and no country of origin shown
  24. If you changed pans, you would get the later style click in T - handle dipstick, right? My truck has always been on steel wheels. Though I did scrap the plastic Argent wheel covers for dog dish because the slotted ones would pack with mud and ice throwing my balance off. When the stock ones got wallowed out I ordered Wheel Vintiques through Summit's eBay store. Lowest price and free shipping, just like when I replaced my hub-rotor-race combo a few months back. Today I'm going to make some taillights for the flatbed you see the Zf on. Maybe I will replace the leaking hose in the wheel lift too. Lil' Red needs forward spring shackles. But that will have to wait until I have more cash because they're stupid expensive for what they are. I'm going to try an find a functional wiper motor. First is to get Gary's parts off to Podunk and out of my truck. Then I need to start stripping and cleaning the F3 engine. Then I need to port my heads and order a cam & spring kit from Scott. And I still need to replace the DS floor before the snow and salt arrive.
