  1. Oops! No snap ring. Idiots. Some bearing retainer should hold until I can get the right size.
  2. Well, nfg on the die grinder because I don't have my paper receipt with me. I'll buy better quality and replace the bearing in this one. Less than an hour on it and it already stb.
  3. They didn't used to do orbital from Wallops, and they don't have the gse for manned launches. But obviously ATK is sending ships up to the station.
  4. Did you see what I quoted? No, from Wallops in Virginia
  5. I watched as the ISS resupply rocket flew up the east coast this morning.
  6. A valve head must have come off because a chunk of aluminum piston wouldn't have done that to an iron head. Obviously it was milled flat when the head was resurfaced.
  7. Well..... I've killed the first Harbor Freight die grinder and I haven't even got to the actual porting yet. Maybe they will return this one. Without power to run a big compressor I'm stuck with electric. Should I just keep eating these up, or bite the bullet on a good one? Brands??? Milwaukee? Something came apart in this cylinder before. Intake match
  8. So, I need to replace the front spring shackles in my F250 4x4. They are $180 *each* retail and $98 my cost. The Sky -no panhard- RSK is a 2" lift for $299. Now that I have access to a nice welder and a press (tow company has a collision shop) I can fab the drop pivots myself and use a more normal shackle (included in kit) Does this seem like a no brainer? Does anyone have a line on a pair of 350 rear spring lift blocks.... like the pair I gave away this summer? Gary and I had a bit of back and forth in another thread, but I want to discuss lifts and RSK's specifically. Please weigh in with personal experiences, not opinions.
  9. Well, I'm actually looking at doing an RSK on Lil' Red. That would be a 2" lift. How long are your brake hoses?
  10. It's out of the teens this morning, and a balmy 22°. I think I'm going over to Harbor Freight later to get an inverter big enough to run a milk house heater. My little generator will run the led lighting and die grinder but not 1800W on top of that. I refuse to burn propane in a sealed box around raw iron. Too much condensation. I need to move forward with the engine. It's time to check and deck the block, and order a cam.
  11. Well, it does have diagrams of the latest version of hot fuel handling for the 460 & 351 H.O.
  12. I have a little led flex light that I think I'm going to incorporate into the adapter.
  13. Pretty sure the computer *grounds* the relays..... Any interest in my '87 EVTM? I know it's outside the scope of the site.
  14. After beefing up my stands. I did a little gasket matching this morning. I'm needing a way to pull the filings through the port and illuminate the deeper recesses. Going to work on a vacuum adapter today. I'll
  15. This morning (19° brrr) I gasket matched one head. Carbide scribe works well, but mine is magnetic. This was never a problem with aluminum heads..... I really need to make a vacuum adapter and led light that fits in the port from the other side. I did find that a dusting of flat black paint helped me judge where I was cutting. pic's to post in the 460 build. This is after keeping Theo company on the graveyard shift. I brought him a new headlight and a 4 pack of 2000 mAh 14500 cells w/ charger. The job is so much easier with both hands free.
  16. You need to build a powder coating oven big enough to turn it old Ford blue.
  17. Where's the green with envy emoticon? I thought you were going with *anything* but black?
  18. You know, I hadn't thought about having a vacuum gauge...... (insert light bulb emoji) Surely there's no driving a built big block 4x4 truck "economically" but I do have plenty of unused vacuum ports. I am kind of stumbling along with this trying to process the wealth of information Scott provides, collecting bits and pieces on zero budget, with no real facilities. And as you said 'having some time to work on my own projects' I do a lot of "charity work" for others that don't really need it free. That is going to have to change while still helping those in need. I should do as you have, and speak to the guru. I didn't want to take his time until I got the block torn down. Given how well that truck ran and the mileage, I figure I might get away with 0-0, no rod reconditioning and a simple bore cleanup. but, you never know until you actually see it. Building a 466 is going to be a lot simpler and cheaper than a stroker. Anyway, the basic World Parts rebuild kit, block machining, and whatever cam kit Scott provides is about all the budget I have. My priority now should be a warm and clean place to assemble it.
  19. Well, Bill has me interested in a wideband afr for this truck. If I can adapt the Superduty Y-pipe to my carb exhaust manifolds I will have better scavenging AND a bung. For now I'm going to ask for opinions and experience. I personally prefer analog to digital gauges. I think it asks less of my feeble processing power to glance at a needle and see if it is centered -or in the red- than observe a number and decide what that means. Obviously response time and damping are also factors, but I know digital appliances have come a long way since my biases were set. The Innovate MTX-AL with a black face and bezel is tickling my fancy right now.
  20. I didn't find one wad of fluff or nut stashed anywhere in the 450. (and I pretty much stripped it to the bone) Very surprising.
  21. Well, it was a New Hampshire truck. I keep forgetting that I didn't make any attempt cleaning the hardware or harness. Wiping down Bill's dash or getting the grease and grime off brackets or something like the P/S pump is another story. You seem to have a really nice media blasting cabinet.....
  22. Bill, Which Innovate are you using. The 3891???
