  1. Is "Boxing Day" still common in New England, or is it just you? haha. I remember a couple of the plant employees in Shelton tell me that they used to work for Sikorsky. The Sikorsky S-92's are used here for traveling to the offshore oil & gas platforms. I've been on them many times. It's weird...they're as big as a city bus, and very stable, so you don't really feel any motion, in any direction, up, down, or forward. Boxing day is my godmother's birthday, so there has been a tradition of gift exchange on the 26th. Being in the toe we're more of the NYC metro than what most would think of as New England. A stable and safe craft with good cargo capacity sounds like exactly the thing you want for offshore operations. I remember you saying how you had to go through water rescue/escape training. Sikorsky was sold to LocMart in 2015. Before that it was a part of United Technologies Corporation. A huge military contractor, headquartered in Farmington. Included: Sikorsky, Pratt & Whitney, Norden, Carrier, Hamilton Sundstrand, Otis and a fuel cell division that was spun out of P&W back in the late 50's to service NASA's need for long term power in space. UTC merged with Raytheon not long ago.
  2. According to the factory documentation the AOD (AOT) was never available behind a 351 either. There's a good reason for this, in stock form.
  3. For what I can remember, it's just a question of image dimensions. But it's near impossible to size it from an Android device. As I recall I had to ask Gary to size mine correctly even though id cropped it and scaled it to the proper # of pixels
  4. Jeff posted a picture from the EVTM showing how the two crescent plugs go together down by the ignition switch.
  5. Why do you have trouble uploading a photo? The forum software is antiquated and only accepts 1Mb.. You can click 'large size' in the right hand column and it automagically gets resized. Gary has explained to his wife and kids that the forum should be continued. There's nothing here that you can't copy locally. Gary even has a bunch of it OCR'd for your convenience
  6. Rene H.... https://forum.garysgaragemahal.com/Restore-of-my-1986-Bronco-XLT-tp137348.html He has questions, and answers to almost every aspect of his Bronco. While you may not be close, you're at least 5.000k closer than most of us...
  7. That's one of the challenges of the EVTM It only shows you one circuit at a time. I can't say that you couldn't get cruise control without tilt, but you'd definitely see both in an upscale XLT.
  8. Welcome! That's a great looking Bronco! I'm sure you'd have something to share with Rene.
  9. Well that's a good gig! I've been in CT many times, but I really never did get to see too much of it if that makes any sense. I used to visit a plant in Shelton a few times a year with a previous employer, and always drove up from Newark. Passed through on I-84 several times on motorcycle trips down south. I think Gary and I discussed this previously, but you guys don't call today "Boxing Day", do you? I guess it's a holdover from Canada being a British Colony, like some other things (we say Zed, while you say Zee lol). I call it Boxing Day, but my autistic mind has it's affectations Like I prefer a U in colour, or many other things that make me 'weird' here.., Shelton pretty much surrounds the Sikorsky plant in Stratford. There was always a lot of contract manufacturing in that area.
  10. Heya Jim! Christmas is pretty low key at our place;). Mrs. Rembrant is always wide open working on various projects, and I've been trying to get outside and do something every day as long as the weather is good! It's a bit weird for me this Christmas...my little Flareside is sitting in the garage covered in old bed sheets to keep the dust off. I'm usually doing and engine or transmission swap by now, or welding something, or whatever else requires me to lay on the cold concrete and/or turn the odd fingernail black lol. In any case, I hope all is well over there in the corner of CT! Merry Christmas. Hope the holidays are great for you guys. Christmas is usually pretty low key for me. (no wife, kids, pets) I'm not in 'the toe' right now. Dog+house-sitting for my brother in East Haven while he's visiting family in NC this week.
  11. Bart will sleep well tonight! Good to hear from you Cory. I hope you and Mrs. Rembrandt had a great Christmas!
  12. I think the variation in switch was tilt v) non tilt but the speed control changes power v/ground through the wheel. (I'd have to look closer at the schematics, since my basic Custom has neither)
  13. I posted the EVTM page in TJ's thread comparing the relay v/direct horn when Gary was trying to troubleshoot L'il Blue. I know that if the truck came with speed control there was a relay in between the two plugs.
  14. I was more concerned about speed (cruise) control if you have that I know the horn connections are different and use a relay if you have the A&B connectors. I think this has to do with how speed control has a given resistance when you push the buttons on the horn pad, but I'm not expert because my truck is a lowly Custom....
  15. Remember, 250/350's push IN not pull out to bleed the brakes.
  16. If all you want are hooks I'd probably have some plate cut that would match the bumper bracket bolt pattern and come out below so they could attach or be welded. Here's a thread: https://forum.garysgaragemahal.com/84-Bronco-3g-alternator-upgrade-problem-tp76904p76959.html (front receiver pics and discussion) 66gtk (Troy) sold a blue truck that had some kinda frame beneath the front bumper that had clevises. You might reply to his thread to see how he did that. Jonathan uses his front receiver to bend up rebar for the footings of the house he's working on There's also this thread: https://forum.garysgaragemahal.com/Front-Reciever-Hitch-w-Stock-bumper-tp38522.html W/pic's and discussion Hope this helps 😉
  17. I don't think there's anything ready made that bolts on. 250/350 4x4 trucks have the front spring shackles in the frame horns. My '87 has a very deep front bumper with different mounts I do know that Jonathan (F834) and StraightSix both have front receivers with stock bumpers. Again, I'm pretty sure these were fabricated rather than bought. Let me see if I can find some pictures
  18. Yes, the lower shaft with the sealed universal is a direct swap. We had a bit of discussion that shows the Bullnose shaft with the rubber boot is superceded in the factory parts catalog. Bricknose shaft also has a smaller diameter, riveted rag joint Edit: I see from your other thread you're looking to replace the whole column with one that's not tilt. While I think it bolts up the same under the dash I'm not sure if the crescent connector has the same pin out. I do know that steering wheels interchange. Gary just swapped out the Bullnose one on his SIL TJ's project truck.
  19. You're killing it! Yeah, this might not be the best day of the year to fire an unmuffled engine and run it for 20+ min at 2,000+ rpm.
  20. Thanks! It would be great to get some advice on the shop, it will probably just be a hobby unless it turns out to make decent money. I have a decent setup because of class for tools but have not yet come up with how I am going to set up the shop beyond a few scribbles done on napkins. I want a lift, and I have done my research on what the garage/cement requirements are, but I have yet to find out exactly what lift/compressor or other in-shop details will be. I look forward to working that out soon though! Hahaha Yes, and that is what I told her, I wanted to have some more experience before I work on the truck that she has had since high school, it has been sitting for a few years, but I checked, and the engine still turns. If it's not a commercial enterprise I'm sure many of us might offer advice (of course Gary has the Garagemahal!) But we can't all be neck deep in Rotunda equipment or factory documentation....
  21. Oh, I am in the class to learn for sure, but my dream has always been to restore classic cars and trucks. I have plans for a shop in the works for this spring, and I have a 1969 C10 to work on next, but this 86' is to cut my teeth on first. To be clear the Ford is mine, and the Chevy is my fiancé's. =D We have a member (Mat) who has a restoration shop. Perhaps he can offer some advice, without divulging secrets. Yeah, you better get it right with your own ride before 'practicing' on her's. 🙄
  22. Glad you have found us! I don't know that resurrecting a carbureted truck would be germane to your studies but if you're looking for help or advice we're here.
  23. You might have a look at component testing (pgs 100&101) https://www.garysgaragemahal.com/component-testing.html
  24. So Gary's Champion failed, and yours too? Both of you are being put off on a replacement (out of stock), but V-8 and I-6? Sorry you have this difficulty. Obviously their process control in China isn't up to par. I'm sure you know what this means given your line of work.
