  1. So, steelies, or would he like something like the Alcoa's? Can you scour up a set of 4 wheel covers for 15" rims? You tagged him to this thread. It's not like he's on Mars....
  2. Is there a reason not to wind an ignition coil for 14 volts? Maybe the battery is taking a hit while you crank the starter? Maybe they had no means of boosting voltage, but they had an easy way of limiting current?
  3. That's exactly what makes Hot Fuel Handling recirculate cool fuel from the tank up through the scorching engine bay. Can you not draw a parallel with the ignition coil? Remember, this is all coming from the same (highly paid) staff of automotive engineers at Ford. They were making 10x the wage you mentioned... Back then. 😳
  4. I’m basically finished with the inside of the trench at least… but funny you should mention that… my son just turned 29 and is going to come stay with us for a while. I will sure be able to use his help 💪
  5. "Wake up white people!" The planet does not revolve around you.
  6. 'splain to me the resistor wire in 460 SINGLE tank implementations. If the valve switches, it works.. Edit: it doesn't limit fuel pressure, that's what the vapor separator does, and why there are different orifices available. The pump is like the ignition coil (wound tighter than a ducks butt) it can handle battery voltage while cranking but it isn't meant to run that way.
  7. Like any chemical, warmer temps make for more reaction, faster. (this harkens back to the chloride discussion I unsubbed the other day! ) Frozen snow isn't gonna do a dang thing to your vehicle.
  8. Interesting! I've worked with ICF but never this stuff. Yeah, it would be a big problem with CMU's and desert wind. I imagine you'd need to wet them before grouting and cover them in a poly sheet for at least a few days.... You're doing great! Too bad you don't have a loader (or teenage son) to hump that backfill over the wall. Please keep us posted as things progress!
  9. My Dana R&P plus spider gears & pin came yesterday. The Spicer rebuild kit w/ bearings and seals is OFD RN. The Dana carrier and shim kit comes tomorrow.... This will not be fun in my condition, but I will get it done and broken in before I make a road trip.
  10. Is HE looking for anything specific, or just 5 on 5.5, 15" only? Widths? Decent tires? (this decade) Edit:7" rims 235's????
  11. Neither do I, but my leg is infected and I have a bad case of cellulitis (skin is splitting, etc...) Plus it's raining all day and I don't have a garage (BUT I prostituted myself, and Rock Auto is trickling in! ) So I'll be building a 10.25 this weekend, and I'm off to Vermont in my truck for the 13th Hopefully I didn't jinx myself, and it turns out better than my last trip there. 🙄 Edit to ask: what's your break-in regime? Do you have an engine stand or dyno?
  12. My little sister used to work in the Detroit morgue. I've never seen more rust buckets on the roads (if you can call them that) than in Michigan. 🤯 I'm sure things are much prettier farther up in the mitten. 😊
  13. I don't sleep. But, I don't have 'family' either...
  14. This is awesome information for those in Kalifornia that have pesky inspectors that want vacuum lines in their original colours! I usually just put a wrap of coloured electrical tape on each end, or heat shrink, but you know what they say about when little men get big power... That diagram puts everything in its relative position, so identifying the things around it... and following the fat hose from the A.I.R. pump will get you there. 💡
  15. I can ask my sister up in Duck Ditch to scour marketplace and any local outlets. She's a really good detective (as you would expect)
  16. Gary, can I tell you again how borked up the joining process is? Airtech, are you using the original harness? Because if you aren't, and you don't have a resistor wire in 'Run' the pumps are going to die in short order. https://www.garysgaragemahal.com/electric-fuel-pump-control.html
  17. Building the floor system will also stabilize the walls you are pouring, but I suppose the grout will do that when it is set. Your wife is so thoughtful. Buy her a vacuum cleaner or skillet for Valentine's next year and see how that goes over. Do you need to keep the EF block moist after the pour? I have no idea about pouring concrete in the desert, but we used to cover slabs with burlap and plastic to keep them from drying out as they cured (this was long before plasticizers, high early and other additives other than calcium chloride for winter) I suppose another option is spraying the block with curing retardant, but -again- I'm no expert on concrete in the desert. I do like to learn all I can.
  18. I'd opine that fuel costs in the US are ridiculous, compared to the rest of the world (1st, 2nd and 3rd) But that's what you get from global hedgemony.
  19. I used to do Daytona straight through without a second thought (1,100 miles) I hear you about restaurants! Food and hospitality are on another level
  20. But, it was absolutely true... Estelle raised a LOT of eyebrows, but I won't tell. "I'm banned from attending State functions at the White House" She's found Jesus Christ, and lives a quiet life in Reno.
  21. My first stepmother was South African (this was in the days of apartheid) She was white as rice but realized that if she filled out 'African American' all kinds doors opened up for her!
  22. Isolated populations tend to stick with the old ways. (and language, evidently) Some of the oldest written language is Sanskrit. I think I'd love to hear that spoken!
  23. You and I are close in age. We don't come from a time and place where picking up a phone to call the cops or a lawyer is the first option....
