Frame is flexing on the driver's side
ArdWrknTrk replied to CDLong's topic in Bullnose Enthusiasts Forum
Gary has (SURPRISE!) a very detailed thread about the Huck bolt, and this very repair I, personally, think he went too far (as he does with almost everything) but it does show the problem in detail. -
Fuel gauge not working-again
ArdWrknTrk replied to Ifitaintbroke's topic in Bullnose Enthusiasts Forum
Do you have two framing squares? You can nest one inside the other, and while you won't get out to 22", it is easy to read where the inside square lands on the leg of the outside square. I use this technique to measure round columns, in place, all the time. A framing square and a 12" square chunk of plywood works too. -

It's only sheet metal. Can't you rig some type of caliper and measure at the point where you intend to put the sender? -
WHYDTYTT: What Have You Done To Your Truck Today?

Ooof, this is gonna be a challenge, on my back, in a driveway, I've already spent a (half) fortune at Horrid Fate. ๐ -
That's really weird. I'm no 300 expert, so I've never encountered this before, but I'm subscribing so I can learn.

Without specials tools and with this sick leg, certainly not easy! Don't give up, you are courageous Jim! I'm dumb as a stump, Jeff! -
WHYDTYTT: What Have You Done To Your Truck Today?

That seems complicated, with aot of jig shafts and special tools. I got the truck up on stands, axles removed, cover chiseled off (Man, that green gear lube RTV is tough!) and starting to assemble new parts. The DC891 impact is a beast for a mid- weight. I can pre assemble the carrier tomorrow, early. I figured out that if I only take pictures in landscape, with the buttons up the photo is correctly oriented. But I can't do that, always..... I covered the hubs for the night -
Jim! How is it going today? My lower leg still has skin like a pomelo. It's swollen, so I can't really bend my knee or get pants on or off. I'm doing what I can in this condition. ๐

Yippee! Hope you get the diff together, Jim. Gary, I need your help. Do you have the clearance specs and drag torque for a 10.25? I'm up at my brothers with minimal tools and no manuals -

X10! -
Good score! That's a desirable vehicle! If you're looking to go through the tranny, I saw a whole bunch of NOS OEM and upgraded parts on the uhaultruckpartsonline eBay store when I was looking for NOS flywheel bolts for Jonathan. They do combined shipping and get it out that day. Can't say enough about them! If you do go that way, be sure to leave vendor feedback in the marketplace.

Thanks Gary! ๐ I've had 3 (festering) days of sitting on my hands. They don't call me Redline for nothing. I get done! I need to get my hands on a DTI and a good set of feeler gauges. Somehow... I think that I'll be ok.

It was never meant as criticism. It's a Dana part, I've got faith. I just wanted to show you.(remember, how literal I am). I just walked out of the biggest teaching (and 2nd overall) hospital in North America.... The best bespoke surgical instruments in the world come from Pakistan. Artisans are born and raised in a culture of resourceful craftsmanship, no matter the language or skin. I have a factory crush sleeve, and one that came in the Spicer bearing & seal kit. It was good enough for (probably) billions of 10.25/50's. It'll be good enough for me. ๐คทโโ๏ธ -

Prius electric steering *and brakes * is a highly valued aftermarket swap. I think that plug-in hybrid is a whole new level. But I'm not interested in any of them.

And now you can have more options in a vehicle that has the complexities and failure points of both....๐ก https://arstechnica.com/cars/2024/04/fords-q1-ev-sales-grew-86-but-its-shifting-focus-to-hybrids/
