  1. Unfortunately it's raining pretty hard already. (this isn't supposed to let up for days) I put my bearing caps, and all the bolts back in the ultrasonic tank yesterday afternoon and forgot about them because I was distracted by pain. I don't like having my hands in Purple Power and the local was out of Spray Nine last week. I tried some stuff called Greased Lightning, but it was a complete fail on gear lube. Yesterday I went and got a gallon of Spray Nine and put all the parts in zipper baggies. Fill the tank with water and set it for an hour. I have to go rinse and dry them. They will take the paint marker if they are clean enough...
  2. I forgot, Daddy left me a Remington 762 gamemaster 30-06 he bought in 53 when he returned from the Korean War. Back in them days, most women didn't care to shoot or mechanic. My Aunt Ruth owned a 308. It set in the corner of the kitchen. Every Thanksgiving, she cooked the dinner and the family all gathered there to hunt & eat, 1st Day of deer season. Most years, she got a deer from the window because we were all out in the woods causing the deer to move. Can't shoot from a structure or car here in CT Though if you're disabled you can shoot from a Quad or otherwise motorized device.
  3. She hasn't old me, but told granny, "That's gonna be my first car". When she tells me, I'm tellin' her-You keep dreamin'! I only knew my maternal Grandfather. My paternal Grandfather left me a Remington 870 12 gauge, He purchased it when I was born in 1952 & an Elgin pocket watch. That's quite a story. Leaving you a Wingmaster/Fieldmaster and a pocket watch must bring a lump to your throat each time you have them in your hands. What a touching legacy from beyond. As for your granddaughter, a little ribbing is good for a child, but please don't be too discouraging. She's obviously invested in the truck and the time she gets to spend with you. I've been discussing with my own sister our fraught relationships with our family. She's let me know how disheartened she is with the fact she didn't often get invited shooting or out in the garage.
  4. Oh, I wanted to say that I think it's Great that you get to spend time with your granddaughter, teaching and sharing with her. I lost all but my maternal grandmother real young, so I guess I missed out on a lot of quality time! Bless you. ❤️
  5. Yes sir. Gary has told me which bushing kits to get. Gary and Matt have told me how to replace them. As long as I have you folks,I feel I'm in good hands! It's a 3/4-10 lock nut. The wrench size for 3/4 is 1 1/8", but I don't know if there's something special about these. You might wait for someone who actually has a 150 to give you the correct answer. 💡
  6. Here's the illustration. You're talking about M-89-HF?
  7. Not much, unfortunately. I decided to tackle the small things that I had not finished, just to put the brake pedal switch and horns behind me. Each of those was fraught with challenges, like the pedal assembly nut broken off inside the dash structure. Then I got sidelined replacing my brother's main toilet, because having a place to poop trumps about everything else in life. But, more work on my knees, and that floor was as you'd expect of an old house with two young boys. 🤢 Im glad I don't have to consider any of that and can focus on the important job of getting this diff shimmed correctly without any of the fixtures Bill mentioned from his AllData. That stuff is heavy, and my brother is back to work at the PD, so I can't rely on his 'help' from here on . I can see that there's a lot of in and out fitting required to establish proper mesh and clearances. I have to get it fit-up, force the carrier back and forth while keeping the shim stacks in order. All this requires dragging it out from under the truck, getting the fit I need, crawling back under...... This is not like a 9" where you can just set it up on the bench and everything is like 1/2 the weight of this monster! Rain is coming today. The driveway is downhill from the street, so becomes a drainage swale. I'm not crawling around in that with an infected leg that barely moves. We'll see what dawn brings.....
  8. Thanks Jim! If I really took my time, I could lay some pretty good beads. Alot of these welds are at uncomfortable angles and the part of me that knows this is just a farm truck isn't worried if they look strange. I just want them to have good penetration and not have any gaps. I would love to flap disc this but it's in a channel so I can't get a regular flap disc in there. I need one of these: They make them that wrap over the edge of the disc, so you have a tangent sanding surface. (evidently, curved or corner flap disc is the term) It might not reach all the way into a 90° corner, but it will leave like a 3/16 fillet.
  9. The swelling is going down a bit, and that's relieving the pressure inside my knee. I wouldn't say it's comfortable today, but the increased mobility is welcome! 🙂
  10. My Granddaughter wanted to help with the Ford, (she gets her license next year and says Papaw has one cool truck), so I had her turn the steering wheel side to side while I watched the suspension. Look what rotated from the inside of the mount. Any recommendations on what to buy to replace both sides? I got a feelin' this is another can of worms I opened. Don't look like they'll just slip in. There are any number of threads about radius arm bushing replacement, but I don't often have anything to say about the lighter coil sprung trucks. The leaf sprung 250/350's are already "light" to me. Someone? Anyone, want to help this gentleman??? I need to get back to my axle rebuild before the rain starts.
  11. I snapped the input shaft of my T-19 like a twig. 🤣 Hopefully the bigger 10 spline input of the Zf-5 S42 holds up. It should, it is the same part # as the later S47 (470 foot pound) version.
  12. Yeah.... well it was IN THERE! I have the original distance rings (abt 1/4") and a full set of aftermarket (Dana) shims. I need to figure out how to get it back in. I have about 3 productive hours a day, it seems... 😜
  13. Here's what I did for a housing spreader for my Dana 44. It took a little time, but very little money. Might be something to consider. Oh, and a way to get the diff out of the housing without a spreader. Put a box end wrench on one of the ring gear bolts and turn the pinion. When the ring gear turns so the wrench is against the face of the housing the wrench doesn't have anywhere to go so it pushes the diff out. You need a working ring and pinion to do it this way, but it's another good trick I was told. I'll consider it Bob Thank you. 🙂 But there are the considerations of time, lack of mobility, resources in a remote location, etc... As it stands, I doubt I'll be making it to a pig roast in an alpine meadow, in Vermont, if I can't walk and can barely stand on my left leg.
  14. $50C is NOT $50 US. My truck came with a voltmeter so I never used him, but my Cougar buddy Joe Chiapetta in Florida has been using him for decades (I think that's how I found out about this critical part of a 3G conversion)
  15. If you want to search eBay use the engineering numbers, because most people who strip vehicles only know the number they see, not the actual part number. Good luck!
  16. We want: E6TZ 7515-A. (marked E4TA 7515-CA, E6TA 7515-AA) https://atpautomotive.com/clutch-fork-za-126 https://fortwayneclutch.com/product/1984-1987-ford-truck-6-9l-7-5l-4spd-clutch-release-fork-e6tz-7515-a-sku-t837/
  17. This is all I can find, here. Gary may have more info, but I don't always see where he puts things. The star for the '83 release arm indicates superceded (by the '84-'87 arm below it) Note: the bellhousing change from 83 to 84 for the 7.5/460. This is because the slave boss is the Achilles heel of those bells. Now we have information! Time to go track down what I can.....
  18. I'm using an Excedy SC886 slave cylinder. EXEDY SC886 Clutch Slave Cylinder https://a.co/d/9ptuNOC
  19. To insert an image you need to use the "big size" button in the insert image drop-down menu. (This software is antiquated and frustrating, sorry! We're working on it) I (obviously) have retrofitted a Zf to my T-19 truck. While I HAVE fixed plenty of Windsor 4x4's, I've never had the forks side by side. If it's any consolation, I am running a 351 external slave, with bleeder! I'm going to round up parts numbers and screenshots from the manuals Gary has available online and head over to parts voice + rear counter and see what shakes loose. Please give me some time. I'm in excruciating pain.
  20. Thanks Jim, is it supposed to move like it is? My 460 4wd uses leaf springs to locate the front TTB, but I would say NO it is not meant to be sloppy.
  21. T-18 (single PTO) was never factory fitment beneath ANY 460, 2 or 4wd. There is a difference between 2 & 4wd 1st gear ratios, but the gearbox remained T-19. I will have to dig all this crap up from my phone because I don't have my books here, while recovering from the hospital at my brother's. I've got some time before the sun comes up and I can start beating on stuff or using an impact gun in this neighborhood. Let me see what I can find......
  22. Yeah, I hear you.... ! I went from a 4# drilling hammer to a 12# rock maul with an 18" handle. My left leg is so tender I can't push off the ground with it. I used a come along in the receiver to put tension on what's left of the carrier while I beat on the pinion nut end and started to drive it out of the case. It didn't wanna budge with a 3' wrecking bar. That unit is pressed in tight, or a case spreader is used and I don't have time or $ for that. I need to get back to work before I end up on the street.
  23. Maybe, just maybe your truck has the wrong one now, and that's why it doesn't work right? What does the engineering number say?
