  1. Are you looking for factory or aftermarket? New or used?
  2. Yes to the upside down - looks like they just removed the red plastic and reinstalled it incorrectly. That's the 85-86 style. E5TZ-99425A34-A
  3. That it is As much as I like it, the starting bid is already above my max. I like looking at the stuff that seller lists but looking is about it. Doesn't mean it won't be in my watch list
  4. Very nice! I like the horn images on the two ends. Saves wear on the woodgrain.
  5. Good video and I like the idea of adding a spring for return. Your statement, Gary, is absolutely correct. The one he is using is the same as the one I have and I use it much more often than the big one. He is spot on with wishing it had a flat base though
  6. I know what you mean. I start with a larger size and then work my way to the "correct" size. That helped a lot but on occasion I still had to take the finished cable over to the bench grinder to remove the wings before I applied the heat shrink. Fingers crossed this AWG one doesn't require any extra steps.
  7. You got it - the Chinese yellow ones that are rebranded under who knows how many names. You said yours (large one) gave out? Anything the repair kit they provided would fix?
  8. Add me to the list of never seeing one crack like that in normal usage. I see them in the JY but that's after they've been lifted, twisted, dropped, etc by the fork lift. Dave is exactly right - the color works in your favor for a repair here.
  9. I have the one (different brand but same thing) in the first post of Gary's as well as the smaller version of it and have no complaints. I've used them quite a bit over the past year and they have always done great.
  10. Welcome aboard! Glad you joined and looking forward to hearing more about your 1 ton. Have a few members in your area
  11. I've seen a couple nos pieces (the short front fender ones) come up on eBay but never the longer ones. I like the look of just the chrome in combination with certain paint colors. How about taking some of the black insert ones and removing the insert, adhesive, and then polishing? I looked into doing this awhile back and found that some had tabs for the inserts but others didn't. Never tried to find out the pattern on it though. Just a heads up on something to check if you go this route. Good luck!
  12. There are already some holes in the flat plate but they are further out (what I using). Would be slightly less protected and may interfere with the current location if the 7way.
  13. Good question. Flipping them up vs down - no problem. How they have them side by side in that one photo Assuming a different product photo got slipped into the collage.
  14. Jim - that reminds me of these that I've come across in searches before. Not a solution for everyone but a solution nonetheless. I am installing driving lights on my 86 back there but that was 95% based on the look of the lights...
  15. I'm with Jim in a big no for GPS in rear view mirror. Better place would be head's up style display. But, for our trucks, my phone in a phone holder is just fine! Gary, you are never going to finish that truck dreaming up all these things to do to it. And, poor Dad's truck sits over there pushed aside, unfinished, neglected, dust all over him....LOL! I am waiting for a tablet to be installed in the visor Some of those HUDs are pretty neat. If you hadn't just bought the new headunit I would suggest an android one to add all of these features in one place. I haven't picked one up but the manufacturer of mine makes a birds eye view camera to use with it (I just have the basic backup camera). Never thought I'd care for one of those but in my wife's new explorer it doesn't take long to appreciate it.
  16. I may be eating my words. I stopped by the shop to drop off my weatherstrip and they already popped off the rear window. I looked at the factory slider and the outward aluminum perimeter pinches into a thin groove.....the approximate thickness of a pane of glass! So i'm not sure what the deal is with the thicker-edged factory slider http://www.garysgaragemahal.com/uploads/6/5/8/7/65879365/head-slap-23_orig.gif Carry on... Forgot to grab this photo the other day. Here is one from a later year that uses the thicker groove:
  17. Let us know how it fits. I've looked at the Scott Drake offerings before but hadn't seen this one either.
  18. Bill - where does the motor go on those? Vertical in the cab corner, horizontal on the floor beneath the window, or?
  19. Those do sound great. Will keep an eye on them (and your review). At that price they are something you'd want to move to a new truck when your old one wears out around them
