  1. You just uncovered "The secret your insurance company doesn't want you to know".
  2. Thanks! How do you get to the wholesaler closeout page? I did figure out that if I take your link and put my vehicle id (navigate to it as normal via the tree view and then pull it from the url) it works but I assume there is another way? For example: 1986 F250 460 is 1124031
  3. Welcome Chase! Glad to have you and hear about your 83
  4. Bryan - you and me both I called and spoke to them yesterday asking some general questions since it's not a small purchase. Very friendly and helpful.
  5. No good answer for you but I am surprised the agent is interested in what similar (unmodified) trucks are going for. My agent just wanted to know what value I wanted to cover it for and that was that. You are a brave man adding up what was spent.
  6. Good question. Taken from doc: I know it's not the options you listed but for the diesel we are looking at Motorcraft 27 / 715CCA with a width of 6-27/32. Raybuck shows 27 at 6-13/16 so close enough Raybuck shows 65 at 7-1/2 I have a ValuePower, Interstate, and Everstart (all Group 65) on the bench right now hooked up to tenders that I can measure tomorrow to get the with and without feet width measurement. Also have the 85 F250 in the shop without a battery to get the max width between the ridges. I wouldn't hesitate recommending the 65 even with the Bullnose tray. The 86 would still have a 65 in it if I hadn't needed to get a matched pair.
  7. This chart looks like it'd be useful for this: https://raybuck.com/automotive-battery-dimensions/ Note: "Any hold-down flanges at the bottom of a battery are not included in these measurements." John - do you know what is in your truck now?
  8. Yeah, it's not a big deal to me. You'd mentioned group 65 so before someone goes out and gets one for a Bullnose I wanted to provide how they fit
  9. It's actually the width that is the issue and it's not really a huge issue but did want to mention it. Where the metal tray ears come up through the plastic, the plastic is raised and the feet on the group 65 battery make it a little too wide. It's never giving me pause enough to see about trimming the feet or installing a spacer underneath.
  10. You're right about that - most I see in the jy have had the bottom knocked out of them to make them function better.
  11. For the pockets: http://forum.garysgaragemahal.com/Product-Share-DashTop-Replacement-Door-Map-Pockets-tp13962.html http://forum.garysgaragemahal.com/Map-Pockets-td82866.html
  12. Must be my driving style! I'll do some searching around too and see if I can find something on them. Thanks! Here's this one: http://forum.garysgaragemahal.com/Classic-Consoles-td75667.html
  13. Yeah, those were standard on the higher trim later years. In my opinion, other than the look, they aren't anything special though and at this point most need new elastic. If looking for something functional I prefer the hard plastic kind myself. They are available aftermarket and there are some threads on here to beef them up. They would be easier to incorporate cup holders into. Some members have also found a good bench seat console that might work for your needs. On my phone or would find some thread links for you. Can later if no one beats me to it. Can't believe the spacious glove box and cup rings aren't enough
  14. 65 is what I have used in all the other trucks also. With the bullnose tray it sits a little cockeyed so not what one would consider a factory fit.
  15. Wasn't money I was wanting to spend but pulled the trigger just now as well. Been driving the truck a lot this week especially around town and the creaking/groaning/popping is just too much. Now I am really hoping it's the poly mounts. Will throw them under the 80 1 ton sometime - figure the ride in that one can't get any rougher.
  16. Right before I bought the truck, the PO had the rear brakes worked on. During the process they bypassed the load sensing valve. That was fine but they didn't re-route the line as it should have been and part of that included rotating that block (why?). I have all the parts to redo it and now that weather is better, hoping that will be soon.
  17. That's a neat story David though it is sad about the battery - we can all relate to the 'friend' feeling on stuff like that.
  18. Here is when I started looking into it but didn't get too far: http://forum.garysgaragemahal.com/Arduino-Torque-tp68097.html The link in the 4th paragraph is worth checking out.
  19. Morning guys. The bags seem to be Amsoil's default package now (maybe have been for awhile?) When ordering all I needed for the rear diff, front diff, and transmission I didn't find any significant price difference between the bags and bottles and the reviews all praised the bags. The bags just make it easy to put your finger over the spout, bend the bag around whatever may be in the way, and empty it. The top of the bag really says it best in my experience: Less Mess, Less Waste. Between this and a hose, it's really just convenience. In the end both can get into awkward spots. It was nice to easily grab the next bag without transferring the pump or have to let the hose drip out after. Thanks Cory - I like the exhaust but think I am going to take it back to the shop sometime and see if this section can be routed differently. Would be nice to remove any concern of it hitting before the bump stops as well as seeing if I can get my spare back under there.
  20. If it weren't for tangents, all we'd talk about are trucks I am a fan of C&C pickups as we have a few of them on the farm and with my 80 being 2wd (so pretty much fair weather/road usage) what you are doing/done is of real interest to me. With a dump especially, the rear tire width will be of note. We have the Nexen Roadian A/T Pro RA8 on a couple of trucks and like them. My 80 has the same tires all the way around though since it doesn't see a lot of weight and risk of rubbing is low. Keep up the great work!
  21. I hope it’s 2 or 3 years before I know! For sure and hopefully even longer!
  22. Finally installed this today. Went about like you'd expect -remove old, install new. I really like the oring approach. As I mentioned previously, this thing is solid and very well made. The magnetic fill and drain plugs are nice along with the sight glass. Just want to say that this was a want item (bday and Christmas from family) and I'd question a true need for it especially in my usage. Does look pretty under there though After filling the np435 and now this rear diff, I am also sold on the amsoil bags. After looking at the photo I had to double check my exhaust. While I don't care for the routing there, it's much more to the left than the photo indicates.
