  1. My 02 Durango has a pusher fan that comes on anytime the AC is on or anytime the temp gets high the computer will turn it on. Dave ----
  2. Being from the New England area as a kid we never made it out to the "land" till I was 20 with a few buddies but I am not much of a ride person. So I must be showing my age as I have heard of "E Ticket" rides. BTW cool plate Dave ----
  3. Man that is a lot more work than finding longer bolts in the left over hardware bin on the bench and finding & cutting the pipe to off set the bottom like in my picture. Like you no one knows but me (and now everyone) once the grille is back in place. My grille was out as part of the rebuild of the truck. Dave ---- Looking at your picture are you worried that air will be pulled around the gaps on the sides & bottom? I just seen yours and made me think I need to see what mine is like. I know my fan dose pull air through the radiator & condenser but I wonder if it could be better? If I sit at a light or idle for a long time, idle RPM, my AC will blow a little warmer till the RPM comes back up but my 02 Durango dose the same so ???? Dave ----

  5. Thats the same thing I found with the one I bought for my truck. I ended up buying another tail pipe but I got one for a '83 and up from rock auto and it wasnt crinkled in the bends. How ever the hanger is not correct for my '82. It is the later 83 and up rod hanger while my '82 uses a bolt on bracket style hanger. Im thinking about using the '82 tail pipe I bought from rock auto to get the hanger off it and weld it on the '83 and up tail pipe. But for me I am fighting with what I want to do. Part of me is thinking about running either straight 2 1/2" single or going with 3" single. I never was able to get word about the off road Y pipe I found by Bassani which is 3" but no clarification on if the adapter they sell for the OE manifold would apply to my shorty headers with the OE ball flange to fit an OE Y pipe. One thing I noticed is there just isnt an aftermarket anymore for our trucks which is sad to say the least since 80 - 86 trucks are still quite popular. Being it is a factory replacement the bends on the tail pipe are normal. As fro the stickers / labels you could have just left them on and they will burn off as the system is used and heats up. Looks good Dave ----
  6. The only time this might be an issue is if you are sitting at an idle for a L O N G T I M E with everything running. I ask how often will this happen? It sounds like this is the first time since you had the truck and if me would not worry. Dave ----
  7. And why a factory set up that works is the best way to go in my book If its not broke dont fix it! And going with electric fans that may not keep the motor cool you also need to upgrade the ALT> Dave ----
  8. I dont know what the big deal is you just space out the bottom of the condenser and the grill support about 1/2" and it all clears. Dave ----
  9. I know old post but it would depend on where the 02 is located, before or after the cat. On my 81 F100 with a 300 six I am running EFI exh. manifolds and factory Y pipe for better flow and no cat. The 02 is in the Y pipe before the cat and I have my air fuel ratio sensor in the 02 bung. In my case I used the good exh. from my parts truck (a long bed) from the mid pipe on back and with the EFI Y pipe and no cat I only needed about a foot of pipe to hook them together. I did not have a good front pipe or cat to know where the 02 bung would be on the non-EFI system. If you have a feed back system and it may be still working removing the 02 will put the system in "limp mode". Oh I see you have a 5.0 EFI same goes for it & the 02, might be even worst? Dave ----
  10. ALUM. anti-seize is what I use on a lot of things like the suspension bolts where they go through a metal sleeve and always get rusted in place. All the studs & nuts that hold the intake & EFI exh. manifolds to the head on my 300 six motor. Drum brake adjusters and where the shoes touch the backing plate, it dose not dry out and get hard like white grease dose. I would use it on the dist. so it will not stick to the block or on a v8 the intake. Dave ----
  11. I have 2 of the stools that Gary has I bought for when I painted the truck they now make a nice seat when not covered with stuff like a shelf:nabble_smiley_wink: I also have 1 of the step that fits over the tire and I use it all the time. You need to set the parking brake so the truck will not roll but others wise I like it better than the stools above because they will not push out from under your feet when leaning over the fenders into the engine bay. I would say go for the tire step over the stool. Dave ----
  12. So we have a decision to make: Do we want to to go with a clear sticker with black printing, or with a white vinyl with the logo on it? The vinyl is to be applied to the outside of the glass and Skylar says it is much heavier duty and will last longer. And they are the same price. Here's a shot of a sticker they make for the local chamber of commerce: How well can the black one be seen from out side the truck? I just think it would not be seen being black. Dave ----
  13. Sorry I cant help on what you need to do to get what you want but if done right you will love it. I had a 86 GM 6.2 diesel 4x4 auto that I did a Gale Banks turbo kit on, truck already had 4.11 gears. Turned it in to a BB gas motor truck and was fun to drive. I did the kit with 100K on it and at 230K sold the truck as the body was starting to need some love and I just did not want to deal with it. Keep us posted on the project Dave ----
  14. Auto parts stores should have them Dave ----
  15. I also did the same thing. Besides the support gets heavy with the stuff bolted to it but the BIG ONE - what if it got away from you and fell the radiator & condenser could get damaged. Dave ----
  16. When it comes to poor running and not running at all (no spark) and the age of our trucks I am seeing more posts of things we would never thing would happen. Take the IGN box, it would be they worked or did not. Then they would just shut the motor down till they cooled off and fire back up again. Others have had just poor running, no power, etc. but never stopped running and turned out to be the box. Thats what just happened to me, on 45 min drive to work at about the 30 min mark, from what I can tell would cut off and back on and flash the turn dash lights? Tach did not jump like I thought it would. That was a new one on me and the truck ran great other wise. I want to say I have seen a post of motor running bad or spark issues when hot and thinking it was a box was changed out a few times and still had the issue. The person found the magnet on the pick up coil in the dist. was cracked. Look yous over to see if the magnet may be cracked? Dave ----
  17. I also wanted something that was as close to factory looking as I could get and found this radio on Ebay for a good price. A set of speakers I had sitting around makes up the system. Its not a great sounding system but as someone said the noise the truck makes its good enough. I dont care it does not have all that fancy stuff the new radios have if I did I would be driving a newer truck. The only complaint I have with it is the stations tend to drift and I need to "dial it" back in from time to time. I think it needs a good cleaning from other signs I have with the radio. The tape deck dose play but the sound is really low so you need to crank it up and even then if driving its hard to hear. Being the truck dose not have room for a lot of tapes I dont carry but a few in the truck so not a big deal. I do have other newer 2 knob radios, 2 are NIB, I could install but I dont think they would look factory and why I did not go with any of them. Dave ----
  18. You must have heard of a test pipe I need the truck this weekend, install the test and I will be back in on Monday! Good they caught them, did they have your part? Maybe the shop could put it back on? You would think who ever they turn the used cats into if they ask for ID and make a copy of it for record it would cut down on a lot of this. The other red flag would be when they keep coming back in, how many cars / trucks do they have to be needing to change out bad cats? What would be funny is when in jail their SUV lost its cat Dave ----
  19. On my 02 Dodge Durango it has a electric pusher fan out front of everything and comes on when the AC compressor runs or if the motor temp gets to hot with out the AC compressor running. The truck also has a motor driven fan. Gary, shops use a big fan to blow on the condenser when charging the AC just for the reason you had. If they have one of them floor drier blower fans they will set it up on a stool to blow into the condenser. Dave ----
  20. I want to do a little more "road testing" but on the way to work yesterday it ran great, no little missing (shut down) and turn light flickering or noise. I had to bring the work truck home and not wanting to leave the pickup at work over the weekend I took the DD and did a swap. I took local roads home, high way to work where it was doing that thing, and it ran fine. On the way to work I seen the AFR more steady and in the upper 13's low 14's where it has been lower before. It also feels like it has a little more power in the RPM range I run in and also think the pinging is a lot less too. But it looks like I changed out the IGN box before it left me stuck on the side of the road. Dave ----
  21. Yep you dint want the return any where near the suction as it aerate the fuel. Dave ----
  22. How do you know its flooding with gas, what signs tell you this? How old / miles on the injectors? I see it as they either leak, worn out or the eec it telling then to stay open I can't see any other way. Maybe pressure regulator? Dave ----
  23. Electric fans are only for newer cars that were built to use them. Look at any other car / truck sites of people that have gone electric fans and now they over heat. Then you have to up grade the ALT to a 3G, look at the ALT out put of electric fans cars / trucks, as your old ALT will not be able to put back into the battery what the fans are pulling out. Just to say you have them is not worth it to me. Dave ----
  24. I see you are on this but will add I cant add link (please dont ) WIN7 and Chrome Dave ---- ps I dont like change
