  1. I love it! And guess what, I learned that early automobiles were "one wheel drive"! I'm wondering if this kind of movie was presented in theaters... kind of interlude or entertainment before the movie. "Early" automobiles were likely chain drive to a solid axle! You can catch a lot of this sort of content on the Periscope Film YT channel. I know I've seen that one.
  2. I don't think it's anything like 10A. Not that I have a pump in my hand to measure, nor do I know the value of the 'run' resistor. I mean , bigger wire can never hurt but the 20Ga. fuselink lasts forever unless there's a dead short I've never had to replace one....
  3. Unfortunately, brake fluid will eat the booster diaphragm. Usually you will hear hissing under the dash. Did you look carefully between the midship tank and the frame rail, and also where the hard line pokes through the crossmember to join the hose to the rear axle? Rust through is most common in these areas. Ideally these problems are easy to fix with the new copper/nickel line.
  4. Right I've read that, and asked Bill what "sensitive instruments he used back at NN. But I uncluttered Danny's thread and haven't heard from him. I don't like having to pull these boxes out. At least I can get my pitman arm puller on it and still have room to swing a hammer! πŸ‘
  5. It's easy enough to see how much slop is in the sector gear, even without installing it. I do have a different lower shaft without any rag joint. πŸ‘
  6. Not the pump, the box itself. πŸ’‘ I've had enough bad experiences to stay away. It's one thing when it's your own vehicle, it's another entirely when bad (and sometimes the ONLY) choices inconvenience someone else, and erodes faith in you.
  7. Right, so eat that $$$ too. If I can't get e spool valve I'm just going to find a tight box at a junkyard and go through it before I take mine out.
  8. That's a hot ticket but if information there. Look for a ground wire. Well, the plug is different and won't fit directly into the dash harness, only into a speed governor, and the speed governor will plug into the dash harness...
  9. It's pretty universal application. I'm definitely not giving anything 'Cardone' a shot. And I wonder how much return shipping is on the core? 'cause that's gonna bite you right where the sun don't shine, every time! Often it isn't worth the bother. πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ
  10. Welcome Josh! Are you running the Price Motorsport CNC plate and injector plugs? All credit to Gary for compiling the documentation on the site! Another member of the Flareside Owners Group! How different is it than Vivek's '78 Bronco with a 460? πŸ€”
  11. So up then left, and u-turn at the light? I'll take stock and see if I can get a cross reference. Do all the switches turn counter clockwise? Only delay switches move left of center. Only delay switches have a ground wire.... πŸ’‘
  12. I wish I know more about NP transfer cases, but I've never owned or been inside one. The 'clip' looking part makes me think it has to attach to something.
  13. I've put over 250 miles on it since I swapped the pump. I don't think it's airbound. I think the spool valve is jammed or one of the Teflon seals is tattered.
  14. I know nothing about these old inlines, but it seemed the expedient path forward. I'm really surprised that there isn't a different starter gear you can use with that flywheel, but again I'm not looking at it, and "I know NOTHING!".
  15. What's this spring looking thing between the forks? I'll bet they are the seats for that. πŸ’‘
  16. Those are for the horseshoe connector that is a part of every DS-II system! Obviously someone has butchered your ignition, but the proper connector pigtail is cheap in the aftermarket. I had to replace mine about a decade ago. ETA link: https://www.amazon.com/Dorman-Help-85848-Ignition-Socket/dp/B000C5G8R2
  17. If the old engine is shot why not just undo the main caps and whichever rods you can reach? Or just cut the crank at the last journal?
  18. Sorry if I didn't quite understand. I was more focused on getting you the right diagrams to help you with the Hot Fuel Handling system Some people miss the fact that it changed over time. Earlier systems had the selector switch controlling a SPDT relay that drove the switching valve back & forth Did I leave you confused? Is there anything you still aren't clear on?
  19. OK, so why is Ford titling the illustration, in the o.p., as having a Stamped axle? If I look at the illustration with the Forged axle, it's not what I have, it's shaped slightly differently and physically smaller. I have a '80 F-150 and an '81 F-100 to compare/contrast. The F-150 TIBs are definitely different from the F-100 TIBs. Yet, there doesn't seem to be a Ford illustration with forged TIBs for the 2WD, coil sprung F-Series. You know, since I seem to have '84 TIBs, I wonder if the '80 TIBs were stamped steel. Yes, if it has a E4TX number it never CAME on a 1980 truck. I think you are in the clear ordering parts for an '84, because that's definitely what it is. Thanks for confirming that. Ford uses generic illustrations in the MPC. Gary will attest to this.
  20. Just squeeze the boot with a pair of pliers. It's not that much current that the smaller stud can't provide. I'm still wondering why it runs weird when connected. You might check that it isn't stuck on in "Run" I'm not sure HOW that could happen, but if it did the pumps (in turbo mode) might be overwhelming the float valves in the carb and causing it to run too rich. ??? (This is only conjecture. Diagnosis over the Internet is all but impossible)
  21. Yep, forged is solid steel like you have. Stamped is thick sheetmetal like my D44HD beams, or a frame rail Yes, if it has a E4TX number it never CAME on a 1980 truck. I think you are in the clear ordering parts for an '84, because that's definitely what it is.
  22. There used to be a narrow gauge train in Essex, CT at Gillette Castle that went along the river where all the bald eagles are nesting. Belching black smoke the whole way! This was a big thing back in the '70's because DDT had decimated raptors. It bioaccumulates like mercury. The little birds ate the toxic bugs, the bigger birds ate the little birds and so on.. Hawks, falcons and eagles were really on the edge as far as having a sustainable population. Their gene pool definitely had a bottleneck. But today this symbol of our nation is coming back strong, thanks to Nixon and the EPA! πŸ‘
  23. Well, that's not helpful. But it does say that it fits 1980, so if it's wrong they're good about returns. (Usually 😑!!!) I finally got a new phone. Ordered some screen protectors and a case. It went out for delivery, but was never delivered. I tried to get reimbursed but there's no option for failed delivery. There's no delivery confirmation or picture of it on my doorstep but they demand that I return it within a window now expired. I call BS but I can't be bothered to let this stuff frustrate me
  24. If anyone's in or around Youngstown, they have a (24"?) narrow gauge Porter (3 actually!) at the Youngstown Steel Heritage Museum that runs on live steam They also have the last of the enormous Tod rolling mill engines, with gantrys/catwalks so you can see the whole thing at once. There is a YouTube channel if you want a taste of* it and some of the incredible work that goes into tracking down, moving and reanimating these things.
  25. E7T tells you it was designed for trucks in the '87 model year. I could look in my truck but I don't want to tear my dash apart right now. Perhaps it's shown back on FTE when I did my speed governor resoldering tutorial? But IDK if I showed the switch removed or just installed with the ground wire in place.
