  1. That depends entirely on the springs, engine, transmission, etc "Able to" and "sanely" are two separate questions. We have here. I don't think you want to know what you share the road with over here.
  2. In your professional opinion, is it worth my time and $ to go with factory LS? I personally don't think too much of them but if there ever was a time.....
  3. Bill's sig says growing up is optional. My brother just bought me a tee shirt that says "I fix $#!+ ... and I know things" I knew the diff was touchy and I've been trying to figure out a place/time to get to it I even had what I thought I needed.... until BOOM! 💥
  4. I was only trying to point out this common cause of vacuum leaks. When someone asks a question I try to walk them through the diagnostics. So everything in the engine bay at a glance first. Then on to tearing into the dash Then the troubleshooting pages from the EVTM. I well know the most likely culprits. I start with that before I dive into a rabbit hole.
  5. 1985 460 van Saginaw setup No, I can't be bothered to rotate them. I have more opinions about the forum software and my having to send an apologetic email to every new member, but that's another rant for another thread. Hope these help.
  6. One alternative I can think of is to make up a brake line with a banjo. 💡 In motorsports/motorcycles we have banjo bolts with switches. I'm sure there's a NC one instead of the NO that would act as a brake light. https://a.co/d/aeJ0keE this one is NO but you get the idea.
  7. The '87/ master has a float switch and three pin connector on the side that trips the brake light, like the / '86 would if the combination valve shuttle gets off center.
  8. Yeah, it's a little more than my 1k seat of the pants guesstimate... $1,409.05 with CT tax, PLUS shipping. 🙄 Play stupid games win stupid prizes! 😂
  9. You have 4 cylinders with zero effective compression.... And these smog engines had 8:1 at best. It's going to be pretty easy. 😉
  10. I have upgraded to the Saginaw pump. Do you want a picture of mine? No adapter on the '71 car that engine came out of. I can tell you that '70's car brackets put the front dress into the cross member. When I got rid of my smog pumps I tried an alternator bracket from a CJ Torino and the alternator sat too low. I tried some other 429 car brackets and none of them fit. I ended up with an L&L alternator bracket (I think Scott has one too)
  11. TUV is weird about some things. I was pointing out to Gary not long ago that depending on the truck and spring combination some pickups have negative reserve capacity.
  12. When you do this, pump your tires to the max inflation pressure. The truck won't squirm around and possibly roll the tire off the rim
  13. I don't know if the one I keep showing from uhaultruckpartsonline has the port. I know it's still listed but I don't think U-haul wants drivers being lazy
  14. I think he's just showing the flattened rear tyre. But, AGAIN, look at the door sticker for proper inflation pressures.
  15. Two things Ford engineering screwed up. They drew the fuse on the trailing side of the switch. They speced Kapton for the diaphragm, and it's not resistant to glycol. The brake master switch could be plenty safe. And using actual hydraulic pressure is about the most failsafe way to do that. (still burned my neighbor's truck down) I told him. People don't want to listen to me. I had pictures, but Flickr went subscription and I 🤬
  16. Doh! On my phone phone it looks like you're showing the driveway pavers as your cargo! Still, subtract tare weight from GWVR/C
  17. You're metric. You're also off by a decimal point. The broncos carrying capacity can be found on the door sticker.
  18. So far not a peep from Bob. I went and picked up another gallon of Valvoline 70-140 synthetic gear lube in bags. I already have a new pinion yoke, straps, seal, crush collar, nut and Spicer U-joint. Plus, I ordered a weld in bung for my cover. This seems like the perfect time to go with an LS carrier, springs and clutches, but I don't really see them, nor know if I want to fight that going in.... My shopping cart looks like What am I missing?
  19. You're making great strides! I just blew up the rear end in my truck and had considered a disc brake D60 axle from an E-series as an alternative, im happy with my drums for now. Adapters and stud bushings might be okay for a 150. I don't think id travel this path with the abuse my 250 sees. Please detail the manual brake bias valve you're using. This might be handy for > 8600 users who don't want to deal with the hinged load valve, but it wouldn't self adjust.
  20. Okay, I see these are largely answered.questions. Ground is right there.... Clutch interlock is a simple jumper (really simple, if you're using the bullnose cab harness) The damn firestarter master cylinder switch... 🤯 As I posted about my neighbor Ben's truck fire over a decade ago..... I don't think it needs hot at ALL TIMES, It could easily be power in start & run instead of constant. Closed except when brakes applied. We can figure out a way to rig this without the master cylinder that Ford screwed up. (or you could get one with the proper diaphragm material that won't go up 🔥 IDK about the bullnose speed input v/s my tone ring in the pumpkin. I guess it depends on how many pulses per mile the PSOM produces vs the Bullnose VSS. There are a million cheap solutions to this... Cheap ES32 chip to interpolate one signal to another output? I'm really not sure which harness you're using, or where it interfaces with the existing..? What else do we need to look at?
  21. But both your flex are red, Jeff, and 81-86 are going to be green. So Ray needs a cluster that is green with the trip button sticking through the bezel. At least that's the easiest way for me to glance at them and get the right one.
  22. I have two tags. One says: V111B 4L10 10 2 6C19 -Guessing this one is a 1986 The other says: V129C 4.10 10 2 8A26 -Guessing this is a 1988 The V111B is LS built March 19th 86 And: The V129C, more like mine, open diff, 29 January of '88 Do you want to sell them?
  23. Welcome Daniel! What are your summers like, there at the end of the continent? Most of us here only get a picture of Patagonia or Tierra del Fuego from an exotic travel brochure.
  24. If you think the 460 is heavy, wait until you get to put an IDI on the stand! '71 engine was said to be the worst for smog detonation, but it has the lower deck height, so has good compression. Ford opened up the chambers on the D2 heads, and raised the deck on D3 blocks. Internal balance means you have to be careful to get the right zero balance flywheel or flex plate today. I've mentioned MANY times about the dented cross member for the IDI and 460 with the 90° filter adapter and screwy lower radiator hose. Hacking a hole is methed up. I'm surprised you were able to break the head bolts loose without flipping the stand over! Let's see some pics of the Cougar!
