  1. For totes -endwise- with a library ladder it makes total sense!
  2. I'd imagine 10.9 Not that it's needed, when the aluminum (and even an insert) would pull long before the steel broke.
  3. One thing I perhaps need to clarify is that the first video I linked is not representative of the level of "extreme" that I will be leading Big Blue on! As I said, I wasn't willing to drive Pluto up that, and I have a lot more experience than Gary. I included that video because it's a good example of why starting in gear can be important. The second video is closer to what we'll be doing (although we'll be pushing comfort zones a little more than that). If the guy in this video hadn't started it in gear he'd have probably rolled his back tires back off the ledge and stopped there. It wouldn't have been at all dangerous, but it would have been a little spooky (especially for his wife if she was in the passenger seat!) and he'd have to climb the ledge again, which hadn't been a piece of cake the first time. That's what this mod will buy for Gary: insurance toward a little lower chance of freaking out his passenger and a little easier time climbing a ledge. You guys are going to have an EPIC trip! (at least, Gary will)
  4. Regular steel, especially in iron, won't ever weld itself in place. That's the chrome and nickel...
  5. Gary's that exceptional trombone repair man.... I can't imagine the brain cells that died in cramming all that stuff into Big Blue. But if it keeps you occupied and makes you happy, you're in a better place than I am.
  6. I once had a cracked head, that would only leak after hammering on the engine and then backing off quickly. I went through a dozen heater cores, but never popped a radiator cap!?!? Sometimes you only find problems while in service.
  7. Days change by seconds near the solstice and almost three and a half minutes at the vernal and autumnal equinox. You have to imagine light incident on a sphere.. ETA: do you play pool? Think about how you strike a ball with the cue. 🧐 This isn't a perfect analogy, but it gets the idea across..
  8. It is if you want protection from galling stainless steel. Plus the fact it's intended for use in refineries and chemical plants. Teflon is one of the most inert materials humans have ever made, and it's operating temperature window is pretty large (far beyond anything we'll see in a pickup truck)
  9. Slow or fast, Progress is Good! 👍

  11. The carriage house I mostly grew up in was previously occupied by this guy.... 🙄 Maybe there's something in the water??? https://www.invent.org/inductees/george-devol#:~:text=In%20the%201930s%2C%20George%20Devol,a%20drum%20or%20other%20medium. https://www.invent.org/blog/inventors/George-Devol-Industrial-Robot
  12. 100°F daily swings are not unheard of in the high deserts... I am watching what's going on in Texas.
  13. Ever since Cardone got bought they are the bottom of the barrel.
  14. The ground wire IS critical. It's the only ground in the DuraSpark system
  15. What are you going to do with a shelf that deep? 'Stuff' gets lost at the back..
  16. You've read what's been written about their customer service, or lack thereof.... And how much they act on important issues like catalog parts that are mis-numbered. The other day I linked a video of a guy cleaning the frame of his f-450 Guess what's going to happen when he goes to put that cab on and has the wrong rear cab mounts, because the number is wrong? They've had this brought to their attention for YEARS, but they can't be bothered to fix it.
  17. I have nothing but curses. See their vendor reviews. 🙄
  18. Hybrid is the worst of both worlds IMO. I know an 82 year old lady who is still sharp as a tack. She drives a Bolt, because she never goes anywhere but shopping, Dr's and church. I'd be surprised if Barbara puts on 3,000 MI a year. She doesn't have to pump gas and she very rarely needs service. I installed a L2 in her garage about 5 years ago. You could definitely have an electric car/truck for "around town" but then the fuel would rot in all your other vehicles. 😄 I posted a truck salvage in NC to Matt's 460 thread yesterday. It's a ways north of Charleston, but if you planned your trip right you could grab parts and swing down. The last time I went to my SIL's hobby farm it seemed brimming with pickups and medium duty trucks.
  19. I went to look and immediately got the door slammed by a drill down pop up. 🙄 Never again with them. 😡 I like TABCO panels. Gary's body man said he'd never seen better. 💡
  20. Right. So you're absolutely the wrong person for the vehicle. That doesn't mean that 85% of the use cases wouldn't benefit. 🤷‍♂️ There was HUGE demand, and the two guys I know who laid their hands on them absolutely love them. Quiet. Never have to bother with gas stations or down time because of oil changes, tune-up 's or muffler work (too new for that... but if it doesn't exist, it NEVER needs repair. 🧐 Brakes will last 125k or more because of regen, etc..
  21. I already said, the only difference is the wheel opening... Other than that, the gas filler cups behind the doors are different. Because the filler tubes fill* through the middle and vent through the outside instead of the kind of troublesome bullnose ones that* keep clicking the pump off Cross members, tail light openings, hinge cables and pivots, all the same. But the 87 to 90 whatever... tailgate is flat instead of deeply drawn like the 80 to 86 tailgate
  22. I get it. You're that exceptional, traveling emergency trombone repair man who has to drive to Alaska at the drop of a hat 24/7/365, and can't possibly own another vehicle to do it. It's okay. I'll be dead soon, and so will you. The rest of the planet will just get on without those having analysis paralysis, or pearl clutching.
  23. The cognitive dissonance, and whataboutism is very deep around here....
