  1. People look for the other smog parts but I haven't seen many requests for the manifolds themselves. Never know - might be a market for the nests
  2. Is it just me or does that look more raised than common style but not quite as raised as the earlier style? Edit: I think it's just the angle of the photo with the thumb that looked a little off. The first photo looks like the higher style which fits with the E0TZ.
  3. Makes sense. That opens up the option for a factory bench. Might not be what you are going for but will drop right in. Pulling the liners out isn't bad at all. Just a matter of removing everything that is hooked to them, removing the tires, and pulling them out from below. I agree with Jim - really neat electrical getup there in the console. If you are planning to toss it, I'd first make a post in the For Sale/etc folder.
  4. Hey Scott, no apologies needed. Appreciate the HVAC unit you sent me too, which btw, showed up Saturday. I was really surprised how fast it got here. Sent you an email on it. Noted you are in Missouri so not too far away. Hopefully will can meet up one day. Perhaps at one of Gary's shows. Not sure how I'm going to go after that blend door repair. I have seen the very comprehensive repair at FTE. It appears our very own, Gary provided some pics of that. Anyway, I have the dash out, my entire instrument cluster, radio, and HVAC controller out. I'll be pulling the glove box soon and looking at it closer in a week or so. Right now, I'm painting the tailgate which is taking up a ton of space in my shop. I get way to many projects going at the same time. Wow, that was really fast shipping. I'll have to check my email - lately it's been sending random emails (even if in an existing thread) to the spam folder. The tailgate looks great!
  5. These covers used to be pretty common up here Gary, and I still see them on the 18-wheelers all the time in the winter. It would mainly be for the diesels out here on the east coast, but out west where it gets truly cold you'd see these covers on just about anything, gas or diesel. I'm not familiar with the Bullnose era diesels at all, but I've been running diesel Volkswagens for years, and they are truly difficult to get warmed up in the winter time, and left at idle...they will never warm up (not like a gas engine will). You have to drive them and work them to make heat. Neat! I picked up a Deflecta-Shield brand one not too long ago just to have in the rare occasion it's needed (similar climate to Gary). It does have one 'problem' though and the photo on the box for the one you found shows it well. Essentially it's too big. Not for functionality or anything but purely from a standpoint of not wanting to screw into the headlight bezels or the chrome bar above and below the grill. Mine didn't show a photo so I was thinking I would just find a cheap jy or aftermarket grill that could be swapped during winter weather. So just a heads up.
  6. Good point Jim. Could remove the connectors from the speed control module and see if that has any impact on the light behavior.
  7. Are you planning to keep the center console so buckets are the only option?
  8. My ears must have been burning that day. Been meaning to send you an email about something anyways that this will relate to so will do so tomorrow.
  9. Haven't read the whole thread yet but going to - I like seeing new life brought into specialty vehicles like this. The exhaust manifold ones are threaded. The crossover ports on the back of the heads are not though. They take a freeze plug. The freeze plug can't be installed with the motor in but there are a couple ways to plug those without pulling the motor.
  10. Thanks Brutus, appreciate your input. For some reason, I'm really dreading this blend door venture. Will be addressing that very soon. So you found a tach? Glad to hear it but apologies for not getting around to checking my parts boxes for one. I know what you mean about dreading the blend door. I am not fully up to speed on the scope of your work, but I assume you'll be doing it in the dash? With the HVAC box out, it's a breeze but never tried it in. There's a great guide on FTE for it and I think Shaun may have recently done it in his truck. I have some photos in my Camano build but I followed the FTE guide pretty closely.
  11. Can't answer your specific question but is there a welding shop/machine shop nearby? Odds are they will press them all in for a reasonable price while you wait. At least that's my experience. Plus you meet some great people and get to look at some neat stuff while there.
  12. If the hazard switch hadn't just been replaced I'd put my money on it. The brake lights not working is one thing but I just can't come up with how the rear turn signals work but the rear hazards don't aside from a defective hazard switch. If it was in front of me, I'd start probing the steering column connectors and tracking where the voltage is and isn't.
  13. Don't sweat it - I get called the wrong name on a daily basis. I didn't even think about buying new ones but good call.
  14. You're right - definitely a front. Shame they don't have the piece that goes under the spring. Would make it more appealing to those adding it to a truck that never had the bar.
  15. These are the other mirror featured in the 1980 brochure, but again, rarely used on the actual trucks. Google Drive - Mirrors I added the ones I have with me to a folder. How do you all think they should be presented/named? By the E[]TZ number if we can accurately identify them? I can try to organize them better in the folders for Gary. Also, if anyone has better examples or other styles, I will be happy to grant access to the share for you to upload them.
  16. Sorry, never fun when something like that happens. You must have eaten your spinach today. I know they aren't the solution in every case and won't prevent something like that from happening if there is already a crack or weak spot but I can't say enough good things about a quality set of thread chasers. I used those about as much as my 10mm socket when redoing the 86. With those links though, a lot of the ones around here are almost rusted through since water/salt/etc settles inside those bushings and goes to town. If you need one though, I think I have one in the barn. Let me know how that plasti-dip sets up. I tried the aerosol for the first time a couple weeks ago and am on the fence so will be good to know if it was just my lack of prep or the material I sprayed it on.
  17. So: 1. All 4 turns signals work 2. Hazards only work in the front 3. Brake lights don't work Seems odd that the hazard isn't working in the rear but the rear turn signals are. Trying to make sense of that. For a simple test to rule it out, first check for voltage on the stop lamp switch. One terminal (Light Green) should get voltage when you press on the pedal. The other, LG/R (Light Green with Red hash marks), should have constant 12v. For reference, here is the circuit from the 85 evtm
  18. Do you have a multimeter? That will come in handy. For something like this you won't need a fancy one - voltage and continuity. A light up circuit tester will work for some tests also if you have one of those. If you pull the hazard switch, any different behavior?
  19. Now that is slick! Please get one so we can see how it looks on our body style
  20. Friday night I took the separator off and blew it out. The screen inside looked pretty clean but after blowing backwards through it a bit it did seem to allow air through it better. Put it back on and the handful of times I've started and stopped it the psi dropped to 2 and then after a bit, to 0. I've never really paid much attention before this so I don't know if blowing it out took care of it or if the major psi increase I reported earlier was just a one off and unfortunate coincidence. Will keep an eye on it though. Haven't done any real testing on the start after soak scenarios but will report back on any findings.
  21. I know I have 4 styles here at my place. At my parents there is a truck with the chiseled + gooseneck and an 81 ranger with the small mirror. Will get photos of them all unless someone has them available and beats me to it. Since it's dark I'll have to wait on the others but here is one I recently bought (thanks David ) thinking it is what was on my 80 1 ton but was wrong. EOTZ-176960-E bought on eBay so can't validate the number is entirely correct. Note that the glass does not have the black gasket around it I'll get better pictures tomorrow but the ones on my 86 and 80 are the same with the exception that the 80 mirrors do not have the black gasket around the glass
  22. If you look at the 1980 and maybe 1981 brochures here on the site, you'll see some of the trucks in the pictures sporting these mirrors, although I have rarely seen an actual truck with them. There's actually very few trucks (in the 1980 brochure) that have the "correct" mirrors that we're used to on the 80-82 trucks. May be a good time for adding more photos and detail to the exterior mirror page: http://www.garysgaragemahal.com/exterior-mirrors.html See if we can get examples from all of the factory 80's options. I know there were a couple styles (like this one based on what Shaun found in the brochure) where Ford used the same head but on the different gen mounting brackets so that should be pointed out to ensure users don't buy a listing like this by only looking at the head.
  23. I think a truck (70's) is in the local yard with these but they are black. I am not really a fan of this style but if I had the right body (door) style, at $70 for the pair I'd happily live with them.
  24. Email sent so you can remove it from the previous post if you'd like.
  25. That's pretty cool. They even took the time to get the interior right - or at least close enough. I was actually looking for a thread like this the other day. Have been re-watching Arrested Development and the stair truck in a couple episodes is a bullnose. They switched between it and a couple earlier gen trucks randomly but finally seemed to settle on the older gens. Taken from https://arresteddevelopment.fandom.com/wiki/Stair_car
