  1. The transfer cases are the same between auto and manual transmissions. But, the transmissions aren't. You'll have to find a C6 set up for 4wd as it has a different rear case/extension than yours. As for the other things, if you find a donor that is basically the same as yours, meaning F150, then the parts should swap over pretty straight forward.
  2. Exactly. A FB friend named Ron has this private message: "You need to see this discussion: http://forum.garysgaragemahal.com/84-460-4-speed-Lowered-street-truck-tp61156p61304.html" (Hmmm, that kinda reminds me of Traffic Jam:
  3. I'd assumed you had to mount the brackets quasi-permanently on the trailer, so it is good to know they can be transferred. However, my trailers are very different in front. The boat trailer has aluminum channel to within ~4' of the coupler, and then a single galvanized rectangular tubing from there to the coupler. The car hauler has steel channel on each side that comes together right up close to the coupler. Something in the back of my mind says that when I looked at WDH's that the connection to the boat trailer was going to be different. Was going to require a different setup than to the car hauler. Am I misremembering? Not that it is going to change the direction I want to go, but I just want that clear in my mind.
  4. The air cleaner lid for the 460 engine is the same size as the lids found on the 5.8L 4V H.O. and the [dual snorkel] 5.0L 4V H.O. found on the 1983 - 1985 Mustang GT. These air cleaners were designed to fit over the stock Motorcraft/Holley 4180 carburetor, which all of these models used. The [dual snorkel] 5.0L E.F.I. H.O. air cleaner lid found on the 1984 and 1985 Mustang GT with automatic transmissions is also the same size, but the air cleaner housing is a bit larger to fit over the throttle body. Good to know, Rick. Thanks!
  5. Somebody with a computer-controlled plasma cutter and a press/brake?
  6. Thanks for the input. Several thoughts. First, I'd already caught your statement about how much fun it was to hook up with the weight-distributing hitch. And I don't want that pain. For instance, Janey and I've been dreaming about going back to Lake Powell and taking the family, renting a houseboat, etc. But, we've worked through the logistics and it will probably take disconnecting the boat trailer at some point to use the truck, and I don't want to have to hassle with the WDH. Having said that, I have electric brakes on both axles on the boat trailer as well as the car hauler, so the WDH wouldn't cause a problem there. And my sway control is built into Blue, so I doubt that's a problem either. And, Blue felt quite stable pulling Big Blue on the car hauler coming back from Florida, or the boat to/from Powell and the Canyon. So I'm not at all feeling the need for more stability. Just a bit of leveling. And the air bags allow for easy and infinite adjustability, so will work with whatever trailer is pulled. SOLD!
  7. Didn't know you were looking or I'd have offered this one to you. Are you looking for the big one though? I installed the big one in Big Blue with the dash in. It would have been easier with it out, but wasn't too bad with it in. However, I have a right-angle drill that made some of those holes less of a pain with the dash in.
  8. Yea, I'm only assuming based on the fact that JBG told me that their supplier had closed down unexpectedly, and they had no idea when their supplier was going to reopen. But if Jason said he wasn't making them for JBG, then that's interesting. I'll probably ping JBG in another month and see if their supplier has re-opened and whether they have more. I sent Keith a note last night and he said he'll look into it. But he is just starting the new job today, so at best it'll take a while. I suggested he contact Jason and see what the deal is about making them, and if he won't or can't then see if they can buy the plans off him and have them made. Maybe even Reamer would?
  9. The length is to some extent determined by the transmission. I noticed on the ZF5 that the bolts have to be longer than on the T19 due to the thickness of the flange on the bell. So, do you need the lengths? I can't find them in the MPC, so I don't know what to tell you. I have some, but don't know for sure what transmission they are from. I can measure them though if you need it.
  10. Yipes! WOW! Pretty, but way too spendy for me. What are the "metal cat heads"?
  11. Thanks, Bob. Good report. Have you tried air bags in a similar situation? I know the physics is completely different, with the weight-distributing hitch actually distributing the weight to the front wheels of the tow vehicle and the rear wheels of the trailer, and the air bags doing none of that. But my question is, how does it make the rig feel and handle? I ask because before I tow the boat again with Blue I want to put air bags on it. The rear goes lower than I'd like, but the truck isn't overloaded. However, I don't want to bother with the weight distributing hitch and want something that can handle any trailer I tow.
  12. This is something we need our new LMC friend, Keith, to look into. I'll ping him.
  13. Yes, read Matthew's account. And be aware that a little bit of gas in a tank makes it very unwieldy. VERY. But a new tank and sending unit is good insurance against having rust in the carb.
  14. I think you've figured it out - the pickup isn't going down into the gas. And that was good detective work. But you don't have to change the tank. The sending unit isn't that hard to replace. You can usually lower the tank enough with the all-thread they hang from to get to the retainer, which you have to turn with a brass drift and a hammer. Then you can pull the sender out. And you can get the right part number on the page at Documentation/Fuel Systems/Fuel System Part #'s/Fuel Senders and Pumps. Personally, I'd leave the piece that apparently fell off in the bottom of the tank. I don't think it is going to hurt anything.
  15. Will do. I'll find it tomorrow and see if I can get it out. But it may be Tuesday. You have bolts? I don't have the ones that were in it, but could send some. However, it'll be less expensive to ship w/o.
  16. I was puzzled by how hard it was to get them clean. I figured that soaking them would solve the problem. Nope. So I used a scrub brush on them. No dice. Then it dawned on me that media blasting works well on hard things, but does very little to soft things like rubber. And the deposits on those things are hard. So.... And, it worked!
  17. Glad you found it and got it fixed, easily.
  18. Angelo - It'll look lots better with the holes filled, but are you going to paint it or leave it in primer? Starliner - IBCA brick collectors are looking for pavers, not building brick. So in a pile of brick like what you saw they'd be going through there looking them over closely. Pavers weren't used very often in buildings, but were there sometimes like in corners and door openings. And brick are HEAVY! So they typically weren't used very far from where they were made - except along rail lines. So somewhere around Boston there was a brick plant, probably near a deposit of clay.
  19. Not much to show for the afternoon, but I did get some done. Put the 1/8" roundover on the dip stick stay. Didn't go perfectly, so I had to do some file work to clean things up. But I got it done and media blasted for PC'ing tomorrow. And, I also blasted the DS-II coil bracket, screw/nut combo, and even the coil. No, I'm not going to PC the coil, but will paint it so wanted it to be clean. In addition, I blasted the horse shoe terminal because someone had painted it gray. Also, it dawned on me that while I was doing that blasting I might as well try to clean the radiator insulators. I'd soaked them in soapy water for 24 hours and scrubbed on them, but they weren't coming completely clean. The two on the left were blasted and the two on the right weren't.
  20. Got the message. I'll have to find it, but it is in the shop so I should be able to find it tomorrow. (Maybe I'll find the lower steering shaft at the same time? Maybe they are hiding together?) Anyway, it is yours if you want it. The little ones were used if the firewall isn't cracked. The bigger one is for when the firewall is already broken. But as I was going with a heavier duty clutch and had the big one I installed it. Here's a pic of the little guy installed, although not correctly as it should have been bolted on the right side as that is a big part of how if gets its strength. And here's a pic of it and the larger one I put in.

I saw a meme on Facebook where a Chevy guy pulls up next to a Ford and is wondering "Is that a C-II pump or is that a blower?"
