  1. Those things are hard to find. I sold one several years ago sight unseen. He just HAD to have it. I'd grab it were I you.
  2. Well done! Lots of little things add up to major improvements.
  3. I think you have to adjust the door latch when you install new seals.
  4. Yep, I can do that tomorrow. Easy peasy as I have the old ones laying right there.
  5. Rosewood ended in '84 and burled wood started in '85. So your truck should not have had a Rosewood horn bezel.
  6. Wasn't there some difference in the coverage of the carpet? Didn't they cover more of the exposed sheet metal in later years?
  7. Because some of us are using later model components, I added a page or two today beneath Documentation/Electrical/EVTM/1996 EVTM: Index How To Use This Manual Grounds: Note that there are 17 pages showing grounds. In comparison the 1981 EVTM has 4 pages. Does that support my statement that Ford upgraded the ground system a bit over the years? Fuse Panel & Circuit Protection Charging System Power Distribution Starting System Ignition System Engine Controls - 4.9L Engine Controls - 5.0L Engine Controls - 5,8L Under 8500 GVW Engine Controls - 5.8L Over 8500 & 7.5L EEC-IV Engine Controls - 7.5L EEC-V Engine Controls - Turbo Diesel Transmission Controls - 4R70W Transmission Controls - E4OD Speed Control I took the path of least resistance on this as I scanned those sections in separately and created a page for each of them and embedded the pdf's. If that is a problem for us I can rethink that approach. And those 160 pages are only about 1/3 of the whole EVTM. I think it has the information we'll need, but if someone needs additional info please let me know.
  8. Ok, Jonathan, go see if this helps: Documentation/Electrical/EVTM/1996 EVTM. I'll say more about it in the Merry Christmas thread....
  9. I don't know what the options are here. Scott sells me the gas he thinks I need and I don't ask questions.
  10. He said the 90/10 would be fine for fishplating the frame, just not quite as good as 75/25. And I asked him if he remembered you. He said "Sure! He's the guy that gave me the Ford emblem for my truck - and didn't tell me." Btw, almost done with the EVTM. Turns out it is a '96. But it should work.
  11. Dave - Glad you joined us! And, thanks for the compliments. We strive to be civil and helpful. Two things. First, you found a way to post in New Members Start Here that I'd not thought of. Usually people start a new topic to introduce themselves, but this works well enough that I promoted you to Member and you can now post in the main forum. Second, where in Mississippi? We have a map (Bullnose Forum/Member's Map in the menu) and we'd be happy to add you if we had a city or a zip.
  12. Much appreciated, I believe that will get me to where I need to be. I will try and put those measurements to use tonight! If there's something else that would help, just ask. I'm 20' from the truck and just scanning new docs, so it is easy.
  13. Pretty much. And to make sure I'm not mounting them to high or low, since the holes aren't there for the mounts since this was a 2wd truck. For now I'm just going with cheap/ish gabriel shocks off of rockauto. I plan to upgrade to bilsteins or fox shocks later down the road. I've actually got a dual shock mount kit from a parts truck that I parted out 6 or 7 years ago. I'm not too sure I'm going to like it, but since I went with the light U code spring it may be alright. Lets see if this helps. But if you need more measurements or pics just ask. The "down" measurement between the upper and lower shock mounting bolts is 21 1/4", and the "up" measurement is 24 1/4". Here's with the shock in the "up" position: And here's a measurement from the lower front bolt hole to the rear steering box bolt: 7". Note that the front holes are the factory holes, and I drilled new holes for the rear bolts on the 4-bolt bracket.
  14. I think Jonathan covered how to do the silver bead in his page here: Documentation/Interior/Salvaging Rosewood. As for the EXIF data, Nabble ignores it. Nabble, like many forum apps, was written before that was common. So we are stuck orienting our pics to it.
  15. I had a similar conversation with ACC a few years ago. Was planning to order the later carpet for the taller tunnel but the rep I spoke with wasn't sure it would work. (At that point I was going with the ZF5 in Dad's truck so had to have the taller cover. But now that the E4OD is in there I don't need the height.) But I'm very interested in this thread as I'll have the tall cover in Big Blue now. And I think that the later carpet goes farther to the back than the Bullnose carpet. Don't know where I read it, but that's what I remember reading and/or being told. Having said that, there is a difference in the tunnel - as I discovered on Dad's truck. The later floor pan carries the bumpup back farther than the Bullnose trucks do so it'll clear the t-case behind an E4OD. But I'm not sure that the extra height for maybe 2" would make a lot of difference in the carpet.
  16. I was wrong. WelderScott called about something else so I asked him what gas I have - 90/10. He said that it is a good all-round gas, but it runs a bit hotter than 75/25. So if you are welding sheet metal just turn the heat down and you'll have a good weld. But, if doing 1/4" stuff all the time he'd recommend 75/25.
  17. I meant it to suggest that I can't figure out how to orient my phone properly so just edit the pics.
  18. This site, like many forums, is dumb. Doesn't have the smarts to read the orientation info in the metadata in the pic so doesn't orient the pics the way you took them. So the way around it is to learn to orient your phone so the pics work, or do as I do and open the pic in editing software and then save it. The editing s/w or app reorients the pic and if you then save it that usually works. But not always.
  19. I think WelderScott has me on a 3-gas mix, but I can't remember what the 3rd gas is. Or, even if there is one.
  20. Had to look that one up: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ferrari_512
  21. Not a bad looking truck for the price. But the leading edge of the hood looks like it is dented.
  22. That's the experience I've had - good parts and nice people. Jim put me onto them, and I've suggested them to several others.
  23. Cool! Literally! Yes, heavy sleeping bag is needed. Good find on that truck. Glad you got the parts off of it. On the choke, it sounds like the fast idle isn't adjusted properly. There are two different Ford publications on servicing that carb here: http://www.garysgaragemahal.com/holley-4180c.html. Go to the Ford Service Manuals tab and then the 4180C-4V tab. On Page 10 is the discussion about adjusting the fast idle. However, before you do as they say and rotate the choke cap 45 degrees, note where it is set now so you can put it back. And, personally I'd not bother with bending the wire. I would just give the screw half a turn or so and see if that doesn't bring your idle up while the choke is on. You may need more, you may need less, so keep track of how much you turn it so you can put it back.
  24. And it won't rust between the panels. Did you leave the Tabco label on for the pic on purpose? I was going to ask whose panels you used, but no need. Pretty nice pieces, huh? Anyway, good job!
