  1. And this isn't even international yet, wait until next year. :) Well, next year will have this year to build on. For instance, the flyer will be re-used with the dates changed. And the banners and or signs will be re-used as I don't plan to put anything specific in them. Plus I should have the food truck thing nailed for next year, if not this. But, I do think I'll have to work a deal with the casino/hotel for next year, if not for this. And I'm sure there'll be lots of other and newer details to be worked out.
  2. Cory - Welcome to the forum! You and Jonathan/Ford F834 are going to become good friends. He's an IDI fan in a big way, and is also creating a one-off Supercab short-bed if I remember correctly, so is chopping the frame. If you want you can go to the Projects section and start a topic/thread on yours.
  3. DeWayne - I agree that a lift and a compressor are wonderful additions to a shop. Dave - Yes, the off-roaders use them as they need to let the air pressure in the tires down significantly while off road, and then bring it up again to hit the road. And the little 12v compressors just aren't up to the task. I remember having a low tire on my '72 F250 when camping once, and we played at least two hands of Canasta while my 12v job brought the air pressure up just a little bit. So, airing up 4 big tires would take forever with one of them. As for tube bumpers being used as the reservoir, they also use the roll bars for that. But that would take someone with far better welding skills than I.
  4. I fixed it. Sorry. But now I'm not likely to forget it.
  5. Interesting! Our neighbors across the street run the Crossfit, and they are good friends. And I was in Matt's today w/the flier. (I put the flier in 14 places in Skiatook. ) On the relays, there's no hurry as I have more on my plate than I can deal with at the moment. For instance, in just less than a month I have guys from CA, CO, AZ, TX, KS, MO, AR, and AL showing up for the get-together. Oh, and Tim Meyer, the Ford engine guru, from MN. And that doesn't include the FTE folks that'll drive in for the day, and I know of around 10 of those that plan to be here. Then the locals that come 'cause they see the signs, or the flier, or the advertising I've done on Facebook. Spent time on the phone today with Stephanie from the Chamber of Commerce trying to get a lead on a food truck to have at the get-together. And spent time with Angela at Highwayman Signs and Shannon at The Hitching Post about signs and banners. Man, this is getting a lot bigger than I expected.
  6. Ron - That is interesting. But, are those the plugs for the governor? Here's what I find in the catalog. And that seems to say that there was only one intermittent switch for 80-86, but two different governors. So, how can that be? I wouldn't think the later governor would be compatible with the early switch if the pins were moved. Did we have this conversation in another life? Do you have a link to it? I'd sure like to document it on that wiper page, once and for all.
  7. I'm surprised that no one has mentioned a York or Tecumseh air conditioning compressor mounted under the hood as an air compressor. Here's how Luke did it on Big Blackie, and I'd like to do that on Big Blue - at a later date. I have a couple of the cast iron ones, but a buddy has a couple of spare aluminum ones, and that's what I want to use. And, by the way, for those attending the GTG, Big Blackie is supposed to be in attendance. Can't wait!
  8. Let me say that you are the best small-engine mechanic I've found. I was pointed your way by people at church, and they were right. So, if you are that good with them I'll bet you are good with all things mechanical. By the way, that '85 I was driving today has the voltmeter powered by the relay I borrowed from my headlight harness - like I told you a couple of days ago I would. Please let me know when you get some Bosch units in that have the tab as I want to install my home-made headlight harness in that truck at some point. And, by the way, where was the Ford dealership in Skiatook? We've been here almost 11 years and it was long gone when we came.
  9. Dave - I think it may be the browser you are running. I have both Windows 8 and 10 running, but use Chrome on both and don't have a problem with the menu. However, Underhood is close to being a problem as the last item, Tool Box, is just usable. So, it wouldn't hurt to shorten things slightly. Some thoughts toward that end are to put Engines in Driveline. And/or find another place for Oddities. Thoughts? Suggestions?
  10. Yes, 4-posters can roll. Maybe you could put up a roof on stilts to put the lift under?
  11. DeWayne - If that is how you spell your name. This is the thread you are looking for: http://bullnose-enthusiasts.12971.n8.nabble.com/WHYDTYTT-What-Have-You-Done-To-Your-Truck-Today-tp148p453.html. So glad you joined! And I hope you can get off and come.
  12. Welcome, Dave! (It is "Dave" and not "David" - right?) I thought Stu had a thorough introduction, but yours may have surpassed his. Luckily there is no competition. 😉 Anyway, glad you are here.
  13. Jon! Welcome! Texican? What part? When? So, does that mean less travel?
  14. Ron - What tabs are you talking about? Mike - Thanks. I'll scan that page and put it in as a PDF, which works better than jpg's. I hope I can get a good one.
  15. Amen, brother! (Response from email so the responded-to thread shows.) On Fri, Aug 18, 2017 at 3:10 PM, Ford F834 [via Bullnose Enthusiasts] <redacted_email_address> wrote:
  16. New = springs, bushings, shocks, tie rods, drag link, ball joints, steering box, and power steering pump. Dunno about the calipers. But I will check it out - when I can. Right now prep for the get-together, as well as web site and forum "stuff", is keeping me busy.
  17. It's the 1826 so it's jetted a little richer than the 'emission' carb. Besides, carbs are supposed to meter fuel to air flowing through them, not "we're going to meter x amount of fuel for every second". As long as the mains are big enough for my rpm limit it should be okay. I'm replacing some floor, stringers and bulkheads in a rather rare little boat. It's a Steve Stepp manufactured 22 Velocity Light Layup. With the Mod VP on the back and the things being done it should break 90. Polyester is good for a glass matrix but it is *not* an adhesive! I need to bond and tab new structural members in place and get rid of the flex that cracked the old ones. So i have some Biaxial and uni CF going into the laminate. This motor was 350 in stock form, and it is NOT stock anymore. If you want to bond *to* cured polyester, vinylester is a good choice, but I have epoxy (and know how to use it) Yes, carbs meter fuel against the air flowing through them. But they aren't linear, so an increase in air might not get you the same AFR. But, if you are starting with the "performance" one then you should be good. I'm not familiar with that boat, but did look it up. Wow! And 90 on the water is way faster than I've been. As for bonding, you know far more about that than I do. My only somewhat similar work was on a Dorset cuddy cabin, exactly like the one below - in fact it had the same colors. When we bought it we didn't realize that fresh water had been between the hull and floor/sole and rot had started on the stringers. I contacted the guy that had been president of Dorset and he recommended that I remove the floor, media-blast the inside of the hull and stringers to remove the rot, and then lay 'glass against the hull and over the stringers, encapsulating them and creating a hat structure at the same time. I did and then replaced the floor and filled the hull with foam. Problem solved, and we loved the boat on lakes around here. However, we took it to Lake Powell and discovered that the shallow vee meant that it rode terribly on the big waves that boats throw there.
  18. Spent most of today on advertising the get-together, and have more to go. With last night's efforts and today's the flier will have been shown virtually on most forums on FTE, this one, and even Facebook. And I had 50 copies of it made and have it posted in 14 places in town, with more to come. Plus, I got estimates from two local places to have signs and banners made, and was blown away with the price differences! For instance, one place will make a 4'x8' banner for $68, while the other wants $270. And the first one can do 18"x24" signs for $43 while the other wants $60. Also, I checked into having business cards made. Not that I have a business nor anything to sell, but having info about this forum and the web site on something we can hand out might be nice. I had the opportunity to tell at least one person about it as I made my rounds today, and handing out a card would have been lots easier than writing it on a piece of scrap paper.
  19. Carbon fiber and epoxy? What are you making/repairing? I would have thought a boat would have had fiberglass and polyester. Anyway, hope you get the carb. I think it'll be all the carb you need, and I'm curious to know what you think of it. Might be a touch lean as they are mainly used on small-blocks, but that's easily changed.
  20. Yes, I won I already have 2 dozen stainless flange head bolts, a new breather cap (from U-techcenter), a can of PJ1 600° wrinkle black, and those red silicone gaskets. I guess some wire separators/holders are going to be needed. Truck now has a hiccup coming off trailing throttle. At least it's not dying coming to a stop. Jim - Cool! I want pics as that may be the way I go. As for what I did with, not to, my truck today - drove it to 16 places in "my little town", to borrow a Paul Simon phrase. I was taking the flier for the get-together around, and I got them posted in 14 of those places. But it took me almost two hours as I got into several conversations about trucks. In fact, I think I recruited someone for this forum today. DeWayne, from Skiatook Auto Parts, if you are reading this you found the right place. However, going to 16 different places meant a lot of low-speed turns, and I noticed a repeated clunk as I was turning. Seemed like it was pretty much straight ahead of the driver, and happened as I was changing directions with the steering. Guess I need to check things out. Maybe the frame at the steering box, or a rivet, or.... Wish I knew where there was a TSB on that.
  21. Jonathan - No worries. My plan is to let people post suggested links or how-to's in the Resources forum. Then I will work with them to create a web page for the how-to, as we are doing, or create a link in a new or existing pinned-thread. And once that's done their thread can be deleted. But yours isn't a page yet, so there's no hurry to delete it.
