What Have You Done To The Forum Today?
Gary Lewis replied to Gary Lewis's topic in Bullnose Enthusiasts Forum
There a box that can add text to (type in), but no way to upload an image. The text box doesn't have the "Quote", "Insert Image" "B", "I" "Link" ... "More", tools like show up above the regular posting text box. This is what I get/see: Then I click on "create first post" and get this: (I don't know how to upload an image on this screen): I'm seeing the same thing. I'm out and about, but will work on it when I get home this evening. Sorry. -
Jonathan - I think you may be onto something. The catalog shows the following, but as you point out the E5 indicates it was engineered in 1985, and that can't be right for a 1980-84 truck. So my guess is that they introduced the black one in '85 when the black headlight & wiper knobs came out, and the catalog may have had entries for both chrome and black locking handles at one point. But, by the time 1994 rolled around the supply of chrome ones was gone and they took those out of the catalog. Maybe Bill's earlier version(s) of the catalog will prove that theory. I sure hope he and Chris bring both the microfiche but also a viewer, as Bill has said they will. Then we can take a look at it during the get-together.

Merry Christmas! Documentation Is Ready

He's responded in the affirmative, and I've created the page: http://www.garysgaragemahal.com/egr-system-description--testing.html. Or, just go to the nav menu to the left under Engines/EGR Valves/EGR System Description & Testing. Thanks! -
Leaf Spring dimensions chart - is this useful?
Gary Lewis replied to CountryBumkin's topic in Bullnose Enthusiasts Forum
That would be great! Maybe we can figure it out by deductive reasoning, as we have the clear/amber lenses and slide/pin locks. -
Cool! Maybe I should change the title of the folder to "For Sale, Trade, or Give-Away"? FYI, I've PM'd fljab on FTE to see if he wants to come over here and look at those.

So, perhaps the catalog is wrong and the codes started in '82 for both the US and Canada? -

Yes, it would be great! I've asked him if I may use it. Thanks. -

Not sure what is going on with the log-in. But I created a sub-forum in the gallery called Mike's Truck. Go see if you can upload there. If so I can change the name and description to anything you want. Maybe by playing we can figure out what we like and don't like about it. -

Yes, there is a gallery, and it is for all of us. I thought I'd said something about it, but if not I apologize. And it is not just for me, so please play with it. But, it is a separate entity and you have to sign up for it, just like the forum. (More on that below.) However, I must warn you that I am not sold on the gallery feature. Greg, the guy that is a long term Nabbler and is helping me figure things out said "I'd forget about the Gallery feature." He uses it on one or more of his several forums, but obviously isn't sold on it. But, he also told me about many other options on Nabble that I'll be trying. And one of those is to put the gallery "application" inside the forum. That way once you've signed onto the forum you are also into the gallery. So, please play with it and see what you think. I can tell you are, but I can't answer your question at the moment as I'm signed in as an administrator and I see options you don't see - but I don't know what you can see. But if you don't get it figured out soon I'll log out as admin and back in as Test. -
Leaf Spring dimensions chart - is this useful?

Well, apparently I didn't read your site either - but the spring codes didn't appear until after March 1982 (according to my data plate / build date). I can change the verbiage around to say something like "March of 1981 for US-built trucks, and some time after March of 1982 for Canadian-built trucks." Would that work? -

I added it to the TSB section: 2G Alternator Repair. And, I made the mention of that TSB in the 3G Conversion how-to a hot link. See what you think, please. But, I do see that the TSB says it is Page 8. It looks like the first page of that TSB, and it doesn't seem like anything is missing, but...... Does anyone know? -
Leaf Spring dimensions chart - is this useful?
Gary Lewis replied to CountryBumkin's topic in Bullnose Enthusiasts Forum
Well, if I'd only read my own web site, I wrote "The first thing to note about spring codes is that the certification labels didn't carry that information until March 13, 1981" on the Spring Codes page. And, to prove it, here's Dad's label from 9/80 w/o spring codes. -

Leaf Spring dimensions chart - is this useful?
Gary Lewis replied to CountryBumkin's topic in Bullnose Enthusiasts Forum
Missed that question as I was posting. Here's Big Blue's label, and in the lower right corner you can see "7" and "K", and that's front/rear. Now, what you do with that I'm not quite sure. This page on Spring Codes says for 1985 that 7 = E0TZ 5310-S and K = E3TZ 5310-U. I see the 7 in the NPD table on the Front Suspension page as a 2820# spring. But I can't find the K numbers on the Rear Spring page. So, it needs more study. -

But I need some help from y'all as I'm getting swamped, what with getting this forum going, documenting things, and getting ready for the get-together/show. So, I will try to get the NPD thing added to the web site today, let y'all know, and then maybe you can see if you can figure out any cross-referencing. Ok? Ok, I put a new page for front suspension: Suspension & Steering/Front Suspension. And it has the NPD table. Plus I added it to the bottom of the Suspension & Steering/Rear Suspension/Rear Springs page. Note that the pdf had both front and rear springs in it, so I edited the file and created a file for the front and one for the rear. Please see what you think. But, I will say the rear suspension pages need a lot of work. -
XLT badges... you don't see these often

I do understand that. I'm trying to contain the creep (take that however you want) on Big Blue. 😳 On Wednesday, August 23, 2017, Ford F834 [via Bullnose Enthusiasts] <redacted_email_address> wrote: -

Thanks! I like it much better as well. I don't have pics, but I think I know someone who can get them. 😎 By the way, I've found a good reason to reply via email - slooooow internet. If I got to the page it takes forever to post the pic. But via email is fast! On Wednesday, August 23, 2017, Ford F834 [via Bullnose Enthusiasts] <redacted_email_address> wrote: -

Oh. I just assumed you were going for a full-on XLT. Sorry. I have those nameplates NOS for Dad's truck. They are beautiful! But Lariat doesn't scream "cowboy" as much as King Ranch does. Janey spec'd a KR for me in 2015 and I went along with it - until we got to the dealer. We opened the door and saw the saddle-stitching on the seats, closed the door, and bought a Platinum - for less than the KR. False alarm on the log-in issue. I'm sitting in a Starbucks with really slooooow internet and the iPad was taking forever to load the pics. So I fired up the iPhone as it wasn't logged on to the wifi and things loaded a lot faster. But I may not have replied on the forum for a few days with it, and apparently it is when you reply that it checks. So the phone had timed out and I had to log in, but after that I could post. And the iPad has not asked for a log-in for days as I keep it active. Anyway, if you are creating an XLT won't you need those badges? -

Those are cool! Do you have them already? By the way, when I clicked on the Reply link to this thread it asked for me to sign it. Tried it again and got the same thing. Signed in and was able to reply. -
Oh. Again I assumed. And again I was wrong.

Here 'tis: http://www.revbase.com/BBBMotor/TSb/DownloadPdf?id=42041 I'll add it to the TSB's later today/tomorrow, and then we could put a link to it in the 3G writeup. Mike - Would it be ok if I just make the "TSB 96-21-4" a link? -
I'm running Big Blue's off the oil pressure switch. The red/yellow wire.

Yup, but I'm looking for a link to the TSB itself. I found a references to #96214, which is probably 96-21-4. But I've not found the actual TSB. Mike - I'm looking via the link you sent, but haven't found it yet. -

Thanks, Ron. But that "edit" turned into a major redo of that section. I realized that there was a much better way to do it, so took the opportunity to consolidate 4 pages into one, and add some content at the same time. Feels much better to me - hope it does to you.
