  1. So, how long do I give him to reply before I flag it on Craigslist?
  2. Gary, The original Ebay ad is long expired and is NLA, but you mentioned earlier in the thread that you spoke with the guy(s)? at Davis to get permission to save and host the pictures. The link below is the dealer that had the truck on Ebay (In Richmond VA iirc) https://www.davisautosales.com/ That's right! Thanks for reminding me.
  3. Well, not only did it recently sell on MECUM, it was also previously sold by Davis Auto Sales as they are the ones that had it on Ebay. Good point. Let's see what the response is and if he denies it I'll go back with the Davis bit. Do you have the link handy?
  4. :nabble_smiley_cry:Glue? I don't remember reading anything about glue? So no glue but I am not to worried there is nothing back there for water to hurt but I may but some black weather strip glue for the other weather seals and put a little on this hood seal. I will have to give another look for that peel and seal at Lowes maybe on the way home from work tomorrow, up at 3am so have to see how I feel. Dave ---- I just looked and I don't have it in the writeup. But it needs to be there to really seal. I used Blackjack from Lowes, on Jim's advice, and it worked well.
  5. Well, I don't know about who sold it on MECUM, but I can tell you that someone else DID buy it to flip it...lol. It's now on Long Island being sold by the "original owner"...:nabble_anim_confused: https://longisland.craigslist.org/cto/d/brightwaters-1984-ford-pickup/6963954361.html Send the Craigslist poster this email:
  6. Wow! And the forum is only ~2 years old. That's ~730 days, and that calc's to 15.75 posts/day. Looks like I racked up 32,860 over ~7 years. At my rate here I'll be over 40k in 7 years.
  7. Good progress, Dave. I think it is Peel & Seal, and there are two versions at Lowes: • 6" x 25" • 3' x 33.5' On the cowl seal/weatherstrip, did you put glue behind it? If not it is very likely to leak. Mine did. And RTV doesn't do it. Blackjack at Lowes does.
  8. That would have been me. I can provide any measurements needed, but my bed is currently sitting in the warehouse at my work, and I'm at home right now. First thing Tuesday am I can post info. Thought that might be you, Cory. But let's get a little bigger view of that illustration on here: EDIT: I wasn't done! And, once we get the dimensions we can update this table:
  9. I agree. Run ATF. And on the next change you'll flush out the gear oil.
  10. Good signature. On the bed dimensions, let's make sure we are talking about the same thing. Our Year-To-Year differences page says "7 pieces of wood and 6 metal strips before 7/82, and 3 pieces of plywood and 5 strips after 7/82." So yours should have the 5 strips, right?
  11. You are now, quite literally, on the map. And, I see that you aren't far from where I went to get steel when we live in PA. Was due east of Philly, some used steel place. If you don't mind, how 'bout creating a signature with info about your truck. It really helps us help you w/o asking lots of questions each time. And, we tend to use first names here as we are a pretty small group, so adding your name to the sig helps as well. But, it certainly isn't a requirement.
  12. Welcome!! Glad you joined us. Where in NJ? I ask because we have a member's map and I'd love to put you on if I knew the city. Nice truck! Persistence pays off!
  13. There's a Turn Highlights Off button at the top of the page when highlights are on.
  14. I just wish that they were worth more money.:nabble_smiley_cry: They will be, for sure. So now's the time to be buying, not selling.
  15. Yes, our trucks are getting attention from others these days. Even grungy ones like Big Blue. But when yours rolls out with that new paint it is going to get LOTS more attention.
  16. The tcase was FULL of gear oil. Not a drop of ATF came out of it. Then someone put gear oil in instead of ATF. Wrong stuff.
  17. Gary and all others reading: I decided to remove the very poor rust repair from the back of my cab, that was installed by what I figure might be the same guy who cut into Gary's crossmember. No pics of the "patch" but it was just thin angled sheet that was booger welded to the back of the cab. There was no prep done whatsoever and it's very frustrating considering the fact that this is probably a really easy repair that he couldn't be bothered to do correctly. But therein lies my question. What do you guys think the best course of action is for fixing this? I'm leaning towards a patch panel from another cab, and welding that in place of what is corroded. Any other options? The section of the cab that the rear cab bolts go through is slightly corroded as well where it meets the back wall, so I will need to patch that as well although the main issue with that section is serious pitting and not giant gaping holes like the rear wall. For now I've wire wheeled the entire area and laid some paint to slow down the rust. Man oh man, sure does get around! Yes, you need a patch panel. Jim put me onto Tabco years ago and my paint/body man said those were the best panels he's worked with. But I just looked their site over and didn't see the panel you are talking about. Maybe I missed it? I'd call them. If not, do like I did and cut a piece out of a truck at the salvage.
  18. I have, I think, checked the '82 MPC that I have on microfiche. Right?
  19. It is really looking like a truck, Dave! I like the bumper. The lights look good, like they were meant to be there. On the cowl seal, I think you do use the screws that hold the cowl to the firewall, but I can check Big Blue tomorrow to see how I did it. However, my garage door seal came with plastic washers, so you might consider using those.
  20. Yes, gear oil usually gets past the seal in the tranny and into the space between the tranny and the t-case. But, not into the t-case. Did you drain the t-case? Did it have just ATF in it?
  21. Shaun - You do have some work to do to replace those panels. But, I agree it should be done. fords4life - That engine sure is worn. But with the need to meet emissions your hands are pretty well tied. It would seem that you need to go back with a 302 in order to do that. Unless I'm missing something.
  22. Ray - Shaun is right. 80/90 in the tranny and ATF in the t-case, and never the twain should meet.
