Re: Merry Christmas! Documentation Is Ready

I added illustrations for the front sway bars to the existing rear sway bar illustrations, and then added the part number info for both.  Then, realizing that it was now a "Sway Bar" page instead of a "Rear Sway Bar" page, I moved the page out of the Suspension & Steering/Rear Suspension section and put it in Suspension & Steering/Sway Bar.

(Yes, Chris, I know that changes the URL and that people who have links to the Rear Sway Bar page wouldn't be able to find it, so I created a re-direct from Rear Sway Bar to Sway Bar.  The joys of being a webmaster.  )

Great addition Gary! And I have always been told that there was no such thing as a front sway bar for the F350 moonbeam D60... but there it is!!! 😀

I don’t know if I want or need one after hearing what you said about the ride stiffness, but it’s good to know, and if I found one I might grab it just in case. I’ve never seen one so they must be uncommon.

I really don't know if it was the front or the rear sway bar that stiffened Big Blue up so much, but one did for sure.  But once I remove a couple of leafs in the rear I'll put that link back to see.

I think where the sway bars are really needed is when you have a tall load on, like a camper.

Since Cinamon was asking about crossmembers I put up a new page: Suspension & Steering/Crossmembers.  It has the info for all 1980 - 1989 trucks so you can cross-reference and see if a later truck has what you need.

Thanks to Vinny we now have Ford's service manual on the 4180C on the site.

I added it to the existing page on the 4180C: Fuel Systems/Carburetors, Chokes, & EFI/Holley 4180C.

And, I learned something - the trucks with a GVWR of 8600 lbs or greater didn't have a bowl vent.

Thanks again to Vinny, we have a second official Ford publication on the 4180C.  But this one includes the generic 4160.  Check it out here: Fuel Systems/Carburetors, Chokes, & EFI/Holley 4180C.  Thanks, Cuz.

And, note that the file is OCR'd, which means you can actually search for a term within the document.  Hopefully some day Google will find all of the info there so an external Google search will find it as well.

Damn, could have fooled me, mine had vacuum closed bowl vents that went to the evaporative canisters, it was all part of the snake's nest of plastic rubber and metal that hid a lot of the engine.

I was surprised about it as well.  All I know is what I read in the publications.  Or, was that newspaper?

I put info up on the cap, rotor, & adapter on the tab by the same name on this page: Electrical/Ignition.  But I thought it was simple and it isn't.

That's why I'm doing this - so people can do their own research.  Glad it is working.

I grew tired of answering the same questions and decided the better way to do it was to put the documentation out there and let people find their own answers.  Works MUCH better.

Re: Merry Christmas! Documentation Is Ready

Gary Lewis

With Bill's help we've added 278 acronyms that, for the most part, apply to EFI installations, although some of them also apply to the feed-back carb systems as well as other, less complex, installations.  And, we have pin-outs for most of the EEC-IV and EEC-V installations.

All of this is on the Acronym and Pin-outs tabs on the page at Fuel Systems/Carbs, Chokes, & EFI/EFI.

And, since this info also is frequently needed in electrical and emissions work I plan to link to that page from those sections - once I figure out the best way to do that.  (Suggestions would be appreciated.)

This post was updated on .
There are also the early MCU and EEC-III systems included. I included up through the 1996 EEC-V systems on the 7.5L as those are the only MAF/SEFI systems for that engine. The 4.9L, 5.0L and 5.8L had MAF/SEFI by 1994 and 1995 so someone putting a later engine or EFI system in a Bullnose will be able to see what changes were made and what may be needed.

Re: Merry Christmas! Documentation Is Ready

There's a sorta hidden page on the website regarding manual transmissions.  You get there via Driveline/Transmissions/Manual Transmissions and clicking on Manual Transmissions twice.  (I know, it is odd.  )

Anyway, I hadn't been on it for a while and didn't realize that several things were broken on it.  What I'd done is take the transmission application chart from the master parts catalog and turned it into a spreadsheet that I can sort.  Then I sorted it by year, model, and transmission so you can have different views of it.

Unfortunately I'd broken some links on my Google Drive and things went away.  But, today I fixed it and updated the pages.  See what you think.

Any suggestions?

Re: Merry Christmas! Documentation Is Ready

Well, apparently no one out there has any thoughts.

Anyway, yesterday I pointed someone on FaceBook to the HVAC page, only to discover that it was a mess.  The logic of the layout for the page was suspect, some illustrations were on the wrong tab, and the Parts List tab had very few parts listed.

So I spent a lot more time than I should have re-organizing the page and adding tons of parts to the list.  So, please see what you think: HVAC Systems.  It isn't done, but I could use some other eyes looking it over.  Please?

Also, I added the TSB for the hydraulic clutch/firewall cracking issue: TSB's: High Clutch Effort.
