I agree, too much aluminum already. It will be black or blue. I'll wait until the fender liners are in to make my decision.

Here is the PCV filter they are talking about. Goes in air cleaner and hose goes from it to valve cover cap.

Thanks Bruce. I've seen that part in the LMC catalog, but not on my truck... So that should have been connected to this hose(from the oil cap) inside the air cleaner? Explains why I couldn't understand why everyone said the air was filtered. Now why on earth would the PO not replace that for $3!?

Received my new shifter retainer from Tulsa...(only caught on to Shaun and Gary's exchange when I saw the return address)



And I was just admiring it in place when I realized it would all have to come back out to install the carpet. No big deal though. The carpet was here in a day and only $12 for shipping!(came from 25 miles away)

'Foil with pad' in first, fits OK, could use more tape to get a better fit I suppose, but after getting the carpet in I don't think it's necessary.



I got the cheap option from RA(Cutpile with no mass backing), which ships directly from ACC just down the road from me. I read someone else's project(can't remember who's) where they described the Cutpile carpet as sufficient for anything other than a show truck. I think I agree. The mass backing might be a good addition, but I have so much material between the carpet and floor, I doubt it would make a huge difference. It also has jute padding in the foot wells and over the hump.

Apparently the Essex is twice as thick... I wouldn't bother for anything other than Dad's Truck.


The carpet also has cutlines for all the bolts, dimmer switch and parking bake cable. Unfortunately nothing on the transmission hump, which is where the majority of my time was spent. I wanted the carpet to go over the boot frames as opposed to just lying underneath. The fit is very good(it's not easy to see the contours in black, so you'll have to take my word for it) apart from at the back of the cab where a crease came in the wrong direction and it appears to be about 1/2" too long.









I also got my new fuel tank installed. I got the Liland brand on RA. With shipping it was the same price as one on Amazon that said the shipper will call me for a month... Eventually cancelled and got my tank in 3 days. It's painted, but came with a medium sized dent... Risk of shipping I guess, but otherwise I'm happy.





And finally, I installed my 'luxury' item/s, SS brake lines... Don't know why there has to be a million kinks in them(mainly referring to the pieces running to the rear), but hopefully they outlast the rest of the truck.





Oh, and another maybe not so small hurdle popped up.



Yes, it doesn't fit... I could 'shape' the area that collides with the heater core housing, but I would still need a spacer(which I believe Edelbrock does have). Worst case, I'll have to go with a bling air cleaner.

Assembling the frame of the dash next and then I'll have to start doing what I've been putting off, wiring...

It is the offset of the non-factory intake manifold which caused the interference issue... early V8 Broncos had something which might work?

Well, two days. I'm just tardy at updating my progress here. I'm planning on adding carpet against the back of the cab behind the seat and adding a headliner, so I really hope there is a big difference. Not that I can really remember how loud it was in the first place...

As for the air cleaner, pretty sure the 300 never had a 4 barrel(5 1/8" carb opening). It's going to have to be aftermarket if I can't conform it into place...
