  1. When I bought my diesel I made all the common mistakes and it drove me nuts. They are very simple to work on, but if you don’t know the basics they will seem like the most unreliable nightmare you’ve ever owned. Most of the time they don’t need actual work, they just need maintenance. The engines themselves can run a half million miles before needing a rebuild. Unfortunately in the wrong hands the usually last much less. I include myself in that group, but I am now the wiser for all of my mistakes. Yup, I had an 88 with the 7.3. Finally got the glow plug system working good. Replaced the pump got it "close" and had my mechanic time it. I asked was it close, he says no!

  4. There is a song in there somewhere........ That's funny!
  5. Replaced my tailgate handle. Got it from Bronco Graveyard since I was ordering a window seal kit. It's the Dorman Help! product. Looks a little crooked. But I can live with it, just bugs me. One thing to note the factory has metric bolts, this one is standard. Had just purchased some bolts and washers etc. to have on hand. They are 5/16-18. So that worked out. Put the old handle and bolts in a ziploc bag, marked with the item name and date. Why, I'm not sure... Took the tailgate trim off to help get in there, I think it helped and cleaned things up a bit in there. Next I'll put the new window seals in.
  6. IIRC, I had to unpin it because I have a tilt wheel.
  7. https://medford.craigslist.org/cto/d/1981-ford-250-camper-special/6736084223.html A bit rough.

  9. I got one from Autozone, they were the only ones in town that had one in stock. Probably the same as ScubaSteve's in a different box. Been working fine. I think they're all made by Standard and Wells for our era. Had to unpin it to get it down the column. Bit of a pain.
  10. That's funny! I read that thread, I was looking for the stripe!
  11. Yeah, not built for comfort! When I was in the Marine Corps we had "tugs" to move the helicopters around. Heavy things. We use to get going then on and off the throttle and that front end would bounce! What a bunch of meatheads! Here's a picture of one.
  12. Ha! The rear driveshaft in my Bronco is 23 3/8"! With a double cardan joint. Bet this one is short. I was around some of these when I was in the Air Force Reserve. Think I drove one a time or two. Also think we had some Chevys like these.
  13. https://medford.craigslist.org/cto/d/1984-ford-150-xl-straight-six/6728419219.html Looks pretty good, well taken care of from the pictures.
  14. I believe you're right it's a bricknose, because of the power window and door lock switches on the door panel. Zombie Assault Vehicle!
  15. https://medford.craigslist.org/cto/d/the-big-wench/6733929019.html I don't see the "wench" in the pictures!
  16. https://klamath.craigslist.org/cto/d/ford-f150/6733780928.html Not much info., or pictures.
  17. Found it! The black with a yellow stripe vacuum line was off of the Floor/Defrost motor.
  18. Everything under the hood looks good. I'll have to start looking into it inside some more.
  19. The new pump was bad. Took her for a long drive. I'm peeling that onion! I noticed it wasn't going to vent before it went to the shop. Today while driving it would go to vent and back to defrost when I accelerated. Been looking for a vacuum leak. Now it's staying in defrost, may have to pull the dash apart. Might replace all the hoses in the engine compartment first.
