  1. I've never seen one, but it looks like something each of us should have!
  2. Man, if I had the money! What a beauty! Gary, the watch list worked for me. Maybe they know you! You do some research, I think!
  3. How about this? https://www.ebay.com/itm/1981-Ford-F-150-Reg-Cab-Stepside/163439540195?hash=item260dc177e3:g:3iYAAOSwEKxcGaNF:rk:1:pf:0&vxp=mtr Gary said this: "The best place to find rust-free trucks in good shape appears to be the Pacific North West." Nice!
  4. No one riding in my '97 F-250HD would think they're riding in a Lincoln. But we take it on a lot of long-ish trips (80 - 200 miles) and no one's complained about being beat up. In fact quite a few people express surprise that it rides and drives so well for a big old truck. And I know my wife wouldn't dread riding in it out to Colorado. True, on the freeway I really like the truck, the long wheelbase makes for a nice ride in my opinion. My sister rode back to California from Illinois with me and really liked the truck. On the rough roads though...
  5. With that extra leaf in the 94, my 86 rides better. And they're both super cabs with the longer wheelbase. And saying it rides better is probably not saying too much. HD suspensions don't ride well. I did just put bigger tires on my Bronco, that helped quite a bit. Not nearly as "squirrelly" as it was with stock size tires. They are 31 10.50 15's.
  6. That's interesting, I had a 94 F250 with the 460 and E4OD, I knew the PO and he had the extra leaf installed in the front. I always joked that in the winter when you went across the"ruts" in the road, you had to reach down and pick your teeth up off the floor. That thing rode rough. I mentioned to the Po that I was thinking of trying new shocks, and he said you'll probably find a steel bar in where the shocks go!
  7. Well, finding a clean and rust free Bullnose Flareside 4x4 is going to be tough. Not impossible, but tough. I would almost be inclined to buy a nice clean 2wd Flareside and convert it to 4x4;). Easier said than done, I know...but for it would be much more desirable than fixing a rusty one;). Welcome! Good luck! I see anything I'll post it.
  8. That's neat! Seemed to work good for me. Have you driven a Ford lately? I was at the Pomona raceway, in the pits, when Bob Glidden was starting to own Pro Stock and he had that on the back of his race car.
  9. OK, thanks, I appreciate that, I'm good for now.
  10. I got mine from Bronco Graveyard. I used a heat gun to get the belt through with string tied to help pull on. Don't get too close with the heat gun! They're black, but you really can't see them. My drivers belt is blue, from a JY because the original latch went bad, can't see that either.
  11. That's interesting. I had an 88 with the diesel and it did not fill good at all. My 86 does pretty good as long as you go slow. I tell the attendants to go slow.
  12. Welcome! Looks similar to mine. Yours looks better. Without the topper now, got a Weather Guard tool box for it. And different steps, Carr Hoop steps now.
  13. I hope I am not misquoting him, but a number of years ago, he attributed the broad [desirable] torque curve to the poor intake and exhaust manifolds! I believe what he meant was that at any given RPM range [probably ~1200-2000 RPMs], a couple of the cylinders were at their peak, so as some "came on" and others "dropped off" in efficiency, the torque band was widened. It's amazing how an engine will be built for a purpose, i.e. a truck engine. Without high performance design, even "poorly" designed, but suits the build. And it will become an absolute workhorse with torque, longevity and reliability.
  14. I'm impressed with what you're doing and the planning. That's more tongue in cheek of what I would do, if I could afford it, because I'm not patient enough! Trying to be funny! And I went back and read the first post to see why you're not using the bed. Makes sense, room for gear.
  15. Dang it! I don't remember well anymore. I had that same thing happen, it was blowing my fuse, then I found the trailer wiring all messed up because of my tail and license lights. On the trailer option, I believe you will have a trailer lamp relay by the fuel pump relay on the left firewall to the left of the brake master cylinder. Also you will find wires that are white with a red dash for your year I believe, at the trailer plug. Also a bigger yellow wire for 12v trailer power. HTH!
