  1. Few days late but want to add if anyone reads this you have to make sure the joints are phased the same. If you look at a shaft the Ujoints fit the shaft on the same side or in a line from 1 end to the other. Dave ----
  2. The tabs may be there but are they still welded to the inner & outer panels? On mine the tab broke loose on 1 side of the panel. I welded it back in place and welded the cracks and have been good for 4 years now. Yes I have to slam the doors as I installed new seals. If the tab is still welded then you need to look where the tabs stop and where the cracks are. My guess if the tab is welded that the cracks are on either side of the tab. I dont know what I would do in that case? Dave ----
  3. How did I miss this Welcome to FOG from another FOG member. Do I own the only non-blue flare side? Dave ----
  4. Gary I have not forgotten about judging sheets for you to look over. I have only been to 1 judged show and it was a vary large one so was hard to ask for a sheet. They had close to 100 cars and think at least 50 big rigs as it was held at the largest truck stop in the east. If you know I80 truck stop out west this is the sister, I95 truck stop. Any of the other outings have been cruise in's or cars & coffee. I have 2 shows this coming weekend, Saturday & Sunday. Think Saturday is peoples choice a large show and only 3 awards handed out. Cant remember if it was free or not last year? Dont know of Sunday's as it is put on by a Boy Scout Troop and we have not gone to this one before that I know of. Dave ----
  5. Only for activation. There was a slave cly type thing inside that moved the knob that moved across a resister that then sent power to the trailer brakes. I am sure that type controller went away when ABS brakes came out on cars & trucks. Dave ----
  6. X2 If I was to get a pint can I would spray it on as I have the equipment. Dave ----
  7. First this was back in 2017 and if still around you would be lucky. Also Jonathan did not have them he found them listed on FB market place and listed them here for anyone needing them. All you can do is keep an eye on this area for another set to show up. A few years ago there was a full flare side bed for sale not far from me and I kick myself for not getting it Dave ----
  8. Yep garage door seal here and unless you put both side by side who's to know Dave ----
  9. Yes nice looking truck but I thing red & white would look better Did you make the decals between the 2 colors? I thought of doing something but after almost 4 years on the road I just left it with out anything. Dave ----
  10. I had a new sender stop working after a short time. Grounding the wire showed the gauge still worked for that tank so was not the switch. Come to find out the float filled with fuel and sunk so no reading I replaced it with the old one and been working for years now. Dave ----
  11. I cant help but if you have the old ones measure them for a size. Also note I believe there is a difference between 4x2 and 4x4 bolts as the 4x4 springs are wider so what ones do you have? I would see if a local spring shop has the bolts, take the old to match up to. If not local shop then McMaster Carr or LMC but the last will be $$$. Dave ----
  12. Think it was 4 years ago I had to replace the radiator in my 81 with a 300 / manual and AC. Not knowing any radiator shops around here, NC, and knowing that shops, CT, wont do a re-core unless they are forced to I found one on line. Think it was from Rock Auto, Alum & Plastic, I wanted a driver so did not care if not copper / brass that the parts truck came with. I do know the later radiators mount differently as the truck came with one but had the wrong support so traded it off. Dave ----
  13. You learn a lot when you do a ground up rebuild of your truck over 4 years. I also added dual tanks but my truck, a flare side, never came with dual tanks as a option. Is the 5.0 carb or EFI and how many ports on the tank switching valve? If carb I think you would be able to use the parts truck harness but if EFI might be a little harder a sit would have more wires going to the tanks for pumps & senders. Then you have more fuel lines with supplies and returns to deal with. If the beds are the same between the 2 trucks you might be able to take the harness, dual tanks & bed and move it over to yours and have dual tanks. I just dont know how the valve works on the parts truck. Some use the in tank pumps to switch the valve and others use electric power. Once you know what it is you can make it work with single or dual tanks. I know I just made more work for you I like to think of all the good parts I have between the 2 trucks and make what I want from them like the dual tanks, ribbed metal bed floor in place of wood and made custom bumpers. Oh how about changing half the firewall so I have AC LOL Dave ----
  14. Hold on there Skippy. This parts truck has a good cab & wiring but no paper work so cant get tags right? You truck is tagged but cab is rusty and wiring a mess right? If you are not going to sell your truck and no one needs to look at the VIN of the cab, frame VIN would still match your paper work. Then I would do a cab swap. I did a cab off frame rebuild by myself. With the cab stripped you can lift each side by your self. Long boards & horses you can lift 1 side slid the boards under that side of the cab and on the horse then do the other side. If high enough you can then roll the frame out from under the cab. On the wiring not all slots in the fuse box have wiring going to them and not all will have power till something is turned on, I think lights is like this only has power when lights are on. AC and non AC is not a big deal as this is a add on harness to the main harness. What I did find out is a big deal is if you have dual tanks or not for a 81 F100 truck both with manuals & 300 six motors, they are different. Now in your case if different years and motors / fuel system this could be even a bigger deal as some have fuel pumps in tank(s) and different switching valves and some dont like mine. So if years / motors / fuel system are that much different then using the parts truck harness may not be the way to go. I think it would be mostly the fuel system than motors but thats me. In my case I was going to use the parts truck harness because of the AC as I did not know it was a add on. But doing the swap I also found the parts truck harness had dual tanks, that I wanted to use on my truck and is not a add on, so it worked out for me. Also note the main harness runs across the top of the dash, you can get to it by removing the dash pad. It then goes out the firewall on each side into the engine bay. Because I was also swapping dashes the parts truck harness came over with the dash and I feed the harness thru the firewall. Dave ----
  15. I take it the van is a 4x2 with AOD / EAOD? Question I have is on the auto what will it take to make it a 4x4? I know the TH (GM) and think the TF (MOPAR) transmissions you have to change the output shafts as there is 1 shaft for 4x2 and another for 4x4. I say this because I used a AMC bell housing TH400 out of a Waganer and being a 4x4 I had to change the output shaft. This was not a bad thing as it was going in my AMC power drag car. Because the output shaft is the last to come out and first to go in you are talking a trans rebuild. This may not be a bad thing depending on miles on it and then you know it is in good to go shape. Just something to think about. Dave ----
  16. Ya, I'll get it sorted. Question is, do I go looking for another used transmission, or buy a reman, or have mine rebuilt? I do have a small issue that I cannot use my existing transmission for a core return with a reman. The cast-in bracket for the factory shift cable is busted off the housing. It wasn't an issue for me, but it means that it cannot be used in its intended application. Just catching up on your project. We all have teething issues when they first get on the road. On the transmission I take it the controller uses input from the TPS right? I also seen a post about the carb, TPS and not being able to get the idle speed as low as you wanted. What other inputs dose the controller use to make the transmission work right? I ask because I had an issues with my 02 Durango where it would unlock and / or down shift out of over drive but only on the high way going 60 to 65 MPH. Turned out to be the wiring harness to the TPS was bad and would not send the right information to the computer and make it do what it did. I am thinking maybe the needed information going to the controller is dropping out? The other thing I might want to do is hit up a auto trans shop and run by them what your setup is and is happening. Good luck Dave ---- ps if the trans temp has gone up it is either slipping or not locking up as it should in my book
  17. I cant remember what I have behind the seat? I may have the old IGN box and a qt of oil and maybe coolant? Most of the time I only drive it to from work, 40 miles each way. But today, in the rain, took it an hour and a half each way for lunch with the car club. If I was to break down and did not have the needed parts and be able to get them easily I would call AAA or better yet my classic car insurance covers towing (flat bed service). Now if I was going farther then I would pack more things like belts, hoses, tools, etc. But for now I think I am good. Dave ----
  18. Well it is 1 of 2 transmissions T18 or NP435 Before pulling the trans I would pull the top cover to give a look see as it could be a shift fork. Just make sure the trans is in neutral before pulling the stick or cover off the trans. Dave ----
  19. They are both the same.I was having issues saving it on my end on my phone where I could get to it to post. Then I was trying to post it when the site was having issues. When I get to a show I will ask for their sheet and post it so you can see how others do it.Then you can pick what works for your show.Dave ----
  20. Yep working on my end not also. At first I thought it was my Win7 laptop but my 3 day old phone also had issues. Dave ----
  21. Judging_Sheets_(1).pdf Judging_Sheets.pdf See if you can see this judging sheet from our club. The show this weekend has been canceled because of bad weather. Dave ----
  22. I do but I am looking at another project that has been gutted and need it for sorry Dave ----
  23. Good to hear you are getting it sorted out. No easy way to go 1 tooth sorry to say. Thing is to go 1 tooth the oil drive dose not line up so you go and go a little more snd is now off 2 May have to move it 1 tooth and then tune the motor by hand to get the drive to line up. Dave ----
  24. Non-AC firewall with the 2 large openings AC firewall (maroon 3 openings) over the trucks Non-AC firewall AC firewall, 3 opening, installed before painting Factory AC HVAC box bolted to the firewall Dave ----
  25. If you did not have a few little issues you would have a big one Cant wait for the test drive report. Dave ----
