  1. Did this happen all at once or a little at a time? What size tires, rear gear ratio and transmission you got? You still running a cat on the truck? Dave ----
  2. Why do they want the prob on the upper tank and not the lower? If the radiator can do its job with out the fan like driving down the road but the temp going into the radiator is at or above the set point would not the fan run when it dose not need to? If the radiator cant cool the fluid then the fan would kick on and the temp would drop till it turned off. Or am I missing something? Dave ----
  3. The other thing is the brace between the outer door skin and the inner frame to support the mirror. With out the brace the door skin will crack and it would need to be removed for that glass. Dave ----
  4. McGee's Cross Roads to Apex puts on a lot of miles (37) also LOL Doing this for 8 years now and at times do it in the flare side. Dave ----
  5. Well, you can get the main hardware like compressor and lines for the engine bay, but if you need any of the vacuum motors, blend doors, controls, ducting, etc that stuff is more difficult. I can't see anybody replacing a working factory AC system, but if you bought a 40 year old Bullnose to restore and none of the AC system worked, I'd install one of these kits in a heartbeat just to have all new stuff. Do you know who you are talking to The crazy one who replaced half the firewall to get AC Ok I can see the motors and now the controls, mine were missing, not working but most of the systems are still there it is the compressor & bracket that go missing. I have not looked at the link but most of the after market systems dont have a way to get fresh air into the cab where factory has "vent". And if you can close off water to the heater core or have a door that seals you can keep the cab pretty cool before needing AC. Dave ----
  6. Hey Big brother thanks for replying. I never realized the paint line was different until you mentioned it. Now i'm not sure what i want to go with LOL. Decisions decisions... Is the 1984 polar white less cream than the 1980-83&85 wimbledon white or is it vice versa between those two? My 86 is currently colonial white and its too much of a cream for me. I dont know on the cream / white color but the first coat of Wimbledon white on my truck I saw "cream"? But after the Candy Apple red went on it looked more white than cream. The other thing is the 2 may be the same color by shade just called a different name. The only way I know to check this out is to find someone that has the mining codes to see if they both use the same colors and amount. You can try and find the color chips like above and put the 2 together to see but it is the mixing codes that make / break the tint. I think being your truck is white already I would use the white code you have and just go with the blue color this way you have the right code on the sticker for half the colors on the truck. 7. In my case my parts truck came with a York and only had half the mounting bracket. Now I could have found the other half but ....... there is always a but ........ My truck was running a Saganaw PS pump, I did have the Ford PS pump on the parts truck but did not know what brackets I might of needed to mount it along with the York bracket? So staying with what I had, PS, and was working I needed to find brackets for the later compressor as I wanted to run it and work with the pump I had. A member on here was able to get me the right brackets from a van that is working. You know they make am adapter bracket that uses the York motor brackets / flat plate, and you can then bolt the newer compressor to it. I also looked into this but being I only had half the York bracket that would not work for me. I think you can find them on Ebay. That is the way I work go if I had motor brackets for the York. Dave ---- ps the only issue I had running the later compressor was hoses as the compressor ends changed between the 2 systems. I was able to find off the shelf hose that worked but was looking at having a custom one made.
  8. Yep, saw it and found it very interesting! But looking at the price (2K$ US, something around 2700$ CAD), I told to myself that I could wait a bit, for the moment Quebec is cool enough in summer time. With climate changes, we never know... I'll write down this product in my wishlist. Quite expansive for just couple of hot days per year here. Why would you need their kit for a AC truck Non AC I can see but you can get everything for a factory AC truck to get it working again. Dave ----
  9. I am just around the corner at 27501 on the Angier Benson line NC. On March 4 there is a show / cars & coffee at MoJo's grill 2648 Timber Dr. Garner NC my calendar has 12 pm start but they have a winter & summer start hours and I dont know what the 12 pm one is. Might be able to find out on the web some where. Be nice to see you and the truck there if you can make it. It seams I am the only 80's Ford that shows up at any show. And no it dose not need to be a show truck to show it. Dave ----
  10. Thanks for that I Googled on how to make one also. Dont know if I want to take up smoking (again) so may make one. Thanks again Dave ----
  11. Could you post up in the garage / tool area how you did the party fogger to smoke machine. I have a car club member that has a vacuum leak that I think is between the intake & heads (v8) as we have not found it in the quick checking 2 of us have done so far. I want to fill the crank case with smoke and see if it will come out the carb. It started with the idle speed going to about 1500. Told he changed carbs and it is still doing it. I need to get some time to get with him to really look it over because it was only a min or 2 before going to a show the last time I looked it over. Dave ----
  12. Hope no one got hurt to bad. I know a little late to the post any up date? You did good to have it home on your land. 1 thing that pushes it to total is the towing & storage when not at home If you have just normal insurance you will only get book value that is not much and yes that is totaled. I have agreed price insurance on my truck, way over what book is. Also if mine is ever totaled I get to keep it. This way I can either rebuild it or use any good parts to build another or sale them, it is mine to do as I wish. BTW if that happened to my truck and was not my fault I would be in jail for killing someone Dave ----
  13. I am with Gary on the #10 wire for the starter trigger wire. I run a McRobb PMGR starter, made in the USA, on my drag car and they also say use #10 wire and is wired like shown. It was done almost 15 years ago now. Dave ----
  14. SEM also makes a texture you can spray on the panels before the SEM color coat goes on. I did buy 2 cans but by the time i went to use them nothing would come out. I dont know if they were just old or what and being I had them a month or 2 and did not remember who I got them from I could not take them back I did a quick fix of cracks on my slider lock panels and a few coats of SEM just to make them look not so bad before a show. The plan was to get new slider lock panels but when I was ready I cant find them so the plan changed. I will pull them back off and do a little better job on the fixes and paint again. I have also bought new slider locks but they need to be painted to match the color of the panels. I also have the "A" pillar covers that need fixing and painting too. Dave ----
  15. Drop down pivot & radius brackets should get it to a point it could be adjusted I would think. Dave ----
  16. My truck is also an 81 F100 (11/80) and the under hood sticker shows 2 tanks truck having 2 canisters but had a single tank (flare side). My parts truck is also a 81 F100 (2/81) and the under hood sticker shows 2 tanks truck having 2 canisters but had a dual tanks (style side). The parts truck did have 2 canisters with the 2 tanks and both tanks did "T" in on the right side frame rail. Link to my site and if you click on the picture it will go big to see the lower canister http://cars.grantskingdom1.com/index.php/1981-Ford-F100/20151220_131852 When I added the 2nd rear tank to my flare side I also used the 2 canisters so it all looks factory. Dave ----
  17. I dont see why not and you may even be able to use newer ones too. Also note if you have dual tanks you would have 2 canisters. Dave ----
  18. I dont need one but I am really thinking of getting one to have on hand just in case. But I wanted to let you know what Ebay did, removed the link. I have never sold anything on the "bay" but have seen how others posted items and thought maybe you could do the same but another post for the 2nd door option works also. Dave ----
  19. Not to be am azz here I did not and I would not worry about wind noise, its an old truck not a modern car or truck that is more car then truck. Even if the gap is good on the doors and you have wind noise what would you do to fix it? Also the gaps where not 100% from the factory and all the tv shows that show them fusing over themare SHOW CARS and not driven. I built mine as a driver and to be used not a show truck. I got the gaps the best I could and far from prefect but people dont see that and if they do and say something I ask where is there car / truck? 99% of the time they dont have one! Unless you are a seasoned body man just do the best you can and at that point it would not be a show truck. BTW thanks on the truck A clean truck like mine brings a lot of thumbs up and talking and been on the road 3+ years now. Dave ----
  20. NP just wished I could be of more help Dave ----
  21. Nice looking truck, looks better than what mine did when I bought it. As for AC Gary is right but also know you cant find a AC truck and swap the HVAC parts over as a bolt in. The firewalls are different, non-AC has 2 large holes and AC 3 large holes and some small hole not in the right places. Some say you can cut the 3rd large hole and block some of the smaller holes but I dont know how true that is? Me I replaced half the firewall from a AC truck and all AC parts in to my non-AC truck. Some said at the time I was not all there and may still not be Dave ----
  22. Welcome to the forum from a F.O.G. (Flare side Owner Group). If it helps you feel better I never got to drive my flare, got it how and took it a part even the suspension off the frame for a 4 year rebuild from ground up. Mine has been on the road for 3 years now and get thumbs up all the time. Last weekend I took the trash to the dump and had to talk to guys, stopped for auto parts and talked to guys again then later to the hardware store, yep stopped again in the parking lot to talk. When you get going start a project thread with pictures so we can follow. Dave ----
  23. Are you looking to just use / drive the truck and not need a bed? If so then a wide 2 x 4 with mud flaps screwed to it and a chep set of boat trailer lights also screwed to it and then wire tied to the frame and you are good to go. New trucks before they have bodies installed that is how it is done for lights & mud flaps Dave ----
  24. I see Ebay removed the link for the Deluxe kit door Maybe the ad can be changed to "option with or with out hardware / seal" with the price change? Dave ----
