  1. Try adding a ground wire from the regulator case mounting screw to some of the metal body or directly to the -battery terminal. Sometimes this will fix an overcharging problem
  2. The alternator seems to be putting out at idle, so the regulator isn't doing its job. But that may be down to bad wiring. If it can't sense what the voltage is in the system it will just be full field all the time.
  3. I like it. Bet the Bronco looks funny now on smaller tires.
  4. A plate of 5/8 or 3/4" (square or triangular) with all holes threaded could be spun onto the spindle, and like you said, then fully threaded hardened bolts (or even something like a clamp screw with a pad on the end and fine acme thread) could pull the spindle off. Just need the inside edge of the pusher holes to clear the flange. With a CNC and 3D modeling you could start with even thicker plate for more thread engagement if needed and relieve a lot of the weight while still being stiff enough.
  5. I usually take both sticks off so I can slide the gearbox/TC assembly back far enough to get wedged up on the transmission cross member.ANY extra room is helpful in getting the pilot bearing out of the crank.
  6. Glad to hear the endodontist can get you in right away. Hope you're back to 100% in a couple of days. You have me thinking of a puller that is hybrid between your and Bob's with the advantage of not needing a nut and having a more conventional implementation. Do you know the thread and what's the OD of the flange on the bottom of the spindle?
  7. Likely did a lot of good! You might be surprised how much torque it takes to overcome friction.

  9. I didn't realize that you were unfamiliar with internal threading. I hope you have a big morgan nokker.. While the air chisel can help be careful you don't come close to an edge and start peening it tighter.
  10. You have a lathe. Why not make a spindle puller attachment to keep in your box? Might be good for a project or to loan at the GTG. Oh, good luck. They can be a bear when they've been on for decades.

  12. I'm thinking 41051 must be the nutplate the striker stud screws into.
  13. Gary, I'm looking at your '87-> illustration I see 404A42 but the nutplate that fits inside is shown above the LH tail light and there's no numbers visible. I'm going to assume a pair of each of these would be needed to make a bricknose gate work with the older bed.

  15. My hinges (pivots) are essentially the same. Here is the right side with the striker and the corresponding cup on the tailgate. Then a pic of the latch. The major difference is that I have door striker type catches while you have bails.

I like the fact that Erik is trying NOT to sell you a pair of brake hoses you do t need. I don't know what ATS is getting for their springs but they have a great reputation.

  23. I've owned two of them. I had both a Sprint and a Tiger, both 1050 triples. They sounded really cool, and unlike anything else. I had a big **black 1998 NOT the 1050** Speed Triple converted to a large single headlamp.(think GS 1150/Seca 650) The Akripovic race pipe on that thing was a banshee wail from the pits of hell.
