  1. Welcome! What exactly is it doing right now when you turn the key? You say it won't turn over? Does it click? Do you have power to the rest of the cab? Headlights, interior lights, etc. Can you take a picture of the fender mounted relay? Will be located near the battery (mounted on the fender).
  2. Took the truck to its first show today (missing trim and all). Was a fundraising event so no judging or anything but was a good time.
  3. Can you diagram your wiring and upload it? That will be the easiest way to figure it out.
  4. I know it doesn't help with picturing what stock looks like on the 300 but for a universal approach for anyone running headers, Headman has a "Hedman Hedders Hot Air Kit". Not much to it. Does the 300 have the shroud (heat stove) that goes over the exhaust manifold like the 460 does?
  5. I've always meant to pick up a set like those linked but never have. Drilling may be the final solution but personally I'd give those a try. Might get lucky.
  6. Welcome! This thread can be used to tell about yourself and your truck. In as much or as little detail as wanted. That said, we all like hearing about the history of a truck and photos are always welcome. For specific issues, like your turn signals, that would be best served on the main page of the forum so it will get the widest audience. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask
  7. It's the in me I guess. Mind you I had already ground down two alternating sides in order to try and get a bite with a wrench and the vice grips. So I think that's why the socket worked so well, as it had corners to bite on. I'll have to remember that one as well. Cutting a slot with the dremel and using a screwdriver (usually with heat also) works in some cases but I could see this allowing you to get more torque on it as well as surface contact
  8. Very sharp looking truck! Regarding the photos - are they right side up on your pc? Sometimes they can appear as right side up in viewers/gallery applications but they need to be correct on the file system.
  9. I bet you are right. Did some quick googling on the dealer cc and appears to have started in the mid "D" years. I'd say you can celebrate a little
  10. You got it on the wiring for the speed control. I've never wondered why they sold that add-on unit but that's a really good question. I've seen them in the jy but never looked to see how all they differed from factory. I assume there is more to the differences than just the stalk vs horn controls? Maybe easier to produce the add-on for multiple Ford models as opposed to having a supply of the speed enabled horn pads?
  11. It's funny - I've never thought to look up why the Emissions light lit up. I just knew that it went away (and I don't have the smog setup anymore) Those snippets actually came from the Owners Manuals (not the big Shop Manuals) that Gary has hosted on this site under the Literature section. Regarding the Shop Manuals - I think they are well worth it but I also like having hard copies of some things. A lot of the information Gary has uploaded but if you are interested in a set I'd setup an eBay alert. The prices seem to vary quite a bit.
  12. I don't know what all years the connectors are present on but here is how I did it (sounds like what you are looking to do): http://forum.garysgaragemahal.com/The-Camano-Experience-tp35327p63071.html
  13. From the owners manuals. The 2-3 seconds for the Emissions is what I experience. Though I am using an Upshift bezel for the Rosewood... UPSHIFT INDICATOR LIGHT (F-150 4x2 with 4.9L engine and 4-speed manual overdrive transmission)—This indicator lights with the word SHIFT to help you obtain better fuel economy after engine warm-up by indicating when to shift to the next higher gear. Its use is detailed under Manual Transmission Operation. … After the engine warms up, the SHIFT light will come on if better fuel economy can be achieved by shifting to the next higher gear. The vehicle will not be harmed if the transmission is not shifted when the light is on, but fuel economy will suffer. In no instance, however, should maximum recommended shift speeds be exceeded. The upshift indicator light should be ignored when downshifting, when going down steep grades and using the engine to "brake" the vehicle, or when hard accelerations are required. The upshift indicator is an aid to obtaining improved fuel economy, but remember that safety comes first. Always operate your vehicle in the safest possible manner for the weather and road conditions in which you are driving. ----------------------------------------------- Emissions Maintenance Warning Light This light is used on certain vehicles to indicate when maintenance of emissions control devices is required. When the light stays on continuously with the key in the ON position, it indicates that maintenance of emissions control devices is required. Refer to the Maintenance Schedule and Record Log booklet for specific information on the maintenance required. The light will glow amber for 2-3 seconds with the key in the ON position to indicate that the light and wiring are functioning. If the light does not glow, there is a malfunction in your vehicle's electrical circuitry and you should have the electrical system checked and repaired as soon as possible. The light is activated by an electronic microprocessor which senses engine-on time rather than actual mileage. The light is designed to glow continuously when the vehicle is at 60,000 miles. Since customer driving habits and usage differ, the light may be activated either prior to or after 60,000 miles. However, if the light has not come on at 60,000 miles and your vehicle's 60,000 mile maintenance is to be performed, the emissions control device maintenance will be done at that time.
  14. Agreed - nice finds. As Gary said - finding a good drivers side window bezel and the colored trim around it, is worth smiling over.
  15. OP is working with an 87 Never too late to add a signature
  16. As for the black wire you can run a ground wire from the b pillar where the factory ground connects or you could ground it at the dome light itself - this is how the factory light grounded. This is also assuming it's from a ~2000 pickup.
  17. The plug in the photo connects to the new (shown) dome light above the left hand bulb, correct? I don't follow your last paragraph about the wide pin. Could you elaborate? What year and model is the newer light from?
  18. Scott are you looking for one of these? I don’t have any firm plans for this one, but the chrome on the map light is in really, really rough shape 😩. Not really actively but yes. I found one a few years ago and plan to install it in the future 81 reg cab project. It looks like the same color as yours and the chrome is also less than perfect. Mine is missing the clip that holds the light in place so been looking for one or at least a photo of it to try and make one.
  19. Very nice Matthew! Updates look great.I know some people recommended enclosures to help with consistent temps. I didn't buy or make one but I did put mine inside an armoire/entertainment center. Can't really say it made a difference printing but you can feel the heat when opening the door. YMMV but I've had good luck with the 8mm brim.
  20. Welcome! So she's running and driving now? Sounds like you've had a fun, busy 3 months
  21. I like it! In the past I've looked at the BlueSea Contura panels but that one you are showing has a much smaller footprint. The ticker look of the Arduino display will be neat.
  22. I think Finagle's law may get you I wouldn't hesitate to post a thread in the main forum describing the problem so others can chime in with some tests you might be able to do and potentially avoid replacing parts that aren't needed. Has it ever happened before? I know you said ignition - so it didn't feel like a hesitation/stumble where it wasn't getting enough fuel? When my duraspark module was going out, it would just randomly die while going down the road. I don't recall it ever cutting out and back in by itself. Fuel filter clean?
  23. Yeah, I'd never put them right next to each other before. The one I just purchased from above should have more black in it but it's so hard to tell about the red/brown by just the listing photos. I just bought it for the console. I wanted to dress it up a little and tie it together. Like I mentioned, in the truck when you don't have your eyes on both at the same time, it works well enough. When making the console I wasn't sure how I'd like it so the only part that has the woodgrain is easily removable/replaceable. Yes, trimming it would be a frustrating process but for less than $10 (second link from David) I am half tempted to pick up a really badly peeling jy bezel and see how it looks. Maybe a project for a cold winter night. Once there is a hydro dipping option for any of the styles, this would lose a lot of appeal.
