  1. Sounds like you've got a good system set up! Keep us updated
  2. Oh! I just opened the app to waste some time and forgot I'd saved this one (caught my eye). If the guy still has it and you are interested, it is really close to me so could check it out. It is a flatbed but that could be remedied. https://springfield.craigslist.org/cto/d/nixa-1986-ford-350-4x4/7210381938.html
  3. Check out this also: https://searchworldmarketplace.com/United-States I've used it a few times alongside SearchTempest. On Craigslist, are you using the inclusion/exclusion filters? I had two pretty narrowly defined ones when I was searching the country for my dream truck. Using the android app (not the official one) it made it pretty quick to scroll through the whole US and see if anything new popped up. For example: (1983|1984|1985|1986)(F350|F-350) -(motorcycle|financing)
  4. Always nice when that turns out to be the case! If you could, please take some photos of the process. You don't see a lot of factory air bag setups or at least I haven't ever come across one in person. I know there is another member that was looking to either add them or replace his not long ago. Could you also add a photo of your door sticker if still present? Particularly the values in the little box in the right side.
  5. Hey Gary. I am torn between these and the Ford block you used. Both have pros that are appealing. Connector Concepts Inc. They were very pleasant to work with so would recommend. I've also purchased from Waytek Wire and really like their selection but haven't worked with anyone there on a personal level. I'll update that Resources thread with mention of both of them as options for those interested. You and I have talked about this and I'll purposefully keep it vague for now but an uncommitted relay comes in handy for security purposes :). So having that but still having it contained in the box is nice. A scenario that's a non-issue with your Ford box (definite pro there).
  6. So just a tad bigger than stock Looking forward to photos and a report back on the washers!
  7. Yes just what I was looking for. Guess I will keep an eye open for alum. flat stock to make some and use SS bolts & nuts and plastic washers as needed. Thanks Dave ---- I bought a set of these mirrors in the junkyard for my F150, but they were missing the extensions. So I also bought a bent up pair of mirrors for $10 and then cut them up to make the extensions. This way, they looked original and already had the countersunk hole for the tapered screw that holds the mirror. Great idea Will be near a truck that has these this weekend so could get measurements if anyone needs them.
  8. Just a couple srw F350 I found out there: https://kansascity.craigslist.org/grd/d/centerview-barn-find-f350/7212333766.html https://philadelphia.craigslist.org/cto/d/glenmoore-1984-f350/7213145741.html
  9. Gary - didn't we do a frame comparison within the last couple years? I was thinking the 1ton c&c frames were thicker but the pickup 250/350's were the same? In short, aside from badging is there any difference now between BB and an 86 F350? I completely get wanting to get a true, off the line F350 so not discounting that. Just thinking of a potential backup plan.
  10. Welcome! That's a great combo you are looking for I'll keep an eye out locally. What kind of condition are you looking for? Turn key or project? Around here those types of trucks didn't live an easy life and unfortunately show it.
  11. You are talking of 2 different things here. The air bags lift or support the truck. The shocks DO NOT lift or support the truck. They control the springs harmonics / wheel from bouncing. So if you need to support the weight of the plow and the air bags that did this are shot, as you said, there are only 2 way I see of fixing this. The easy way is to get new bags. You can air up when the plow is on and air down when its not. The hard way is to replace the coil springs. Thing is it would need to be pretty stiff spring to support the plow and when the plow is not on would ride like crap and the tires I would think get the camber thrown off like a lifted truck. If you want to run 4 shocks you can but know they should not be the same shocks as the 2 shock setup has as the valving should be different between them. Me I would do the air bags and move on to something else that needs looking into. Dave ---- I would also go with new air bags.
  12. I wasn't going to mention it, but that was one of the reasons I wasn't too upset that I thought I needed to make my battery hold downs. That angled hold down just bugged me. Sorry, Scott. Missed the angled hold down jab a month ago I think because it's factory, I am ok with it. Got to work on the truck some this week. As seen earlier in this thread, I am using an Eaton ssVEC relay/fuse module on the passenger inner fender to take care of the various hot triggered relays (blower, choke, highs, lows, driving, backup camera, etc). And I am sure I've said it before but am a big fan of these little boxes. When I made the platform on the drivers inner fender I left a spot open for another box alongside the dsII and the large fuse box thinking that someday I'd need one. Well, with the addition of the security system, that came sooner than expected. The problem was that the 000 box (see differences here) can either be triggered by 12v or ground but not both. I needed some ground triggered relays but didn't want all 8 of them to be that. Called up Eaton back in May and spoke to the guy that designed these, telling him that I really needed a mix of 4/4. He told me they didn't have that but they did have a new 004 box that had 6 linked relays and 2 free relays. Couldn't complain about that. Due to the pandemic though the factories were shut down so it was unknown when they'd ship them. Plus no supplier knew about them so no orders were placed yet. Called CCI and after they did some checking on it they allowed me to place an order for one although the ship date was still unknown. CCI was great to work with especially since something like 12 units was the minimum order and I only needed 1 Fast forward a few months and a box shows up with the new 004 unit. Installed it this evening but haven't hooked any accessories to it yet. The 6 linked ones will be ground triggered with two of those already spoken for as well as the two free ones.
  13. It's the same. You could take some flat stock and make the gooseneck park if wanted. Yes, in the right position the mirror could hit the door/glass but the same goes for a normal mirror. Is that what you are asking?
  14. I bought a couple specialty bulbs from SuperBrightLeds and am very happy with them. In general though - if JDM Astar offers what I need, I will buy those (eBay). Early on I bought some of the "12 for $1" type bulbs and while some worked, the percentage was low. They would either flicker, burn out, dim randomly, or twist apart when installing them. Have had zero issues with JDM's.
  15. These boxes are an option for adding relays/fuses to our trucks. There are many, many other options out there so best to do some research and see what fits your needs best. Here are the current offerings. I am using both the 000 and the 004. I would consider the 004 to be a great all-in-one solution. 31S-000.pdf 31S-001.pdf 31S-002.pdf 31S-004.pdf 32S-300.pdf Two suppliers are Connector Concepts Inc and Waytek Wire.
  16. We are on the same page. The drw trucks I've seen like you are referring to (nice horse haulers) typically have the running boards that go from wheel well to wheel well. My 86/Camano came with those and the rear piece changes the look even more. I prefer just the front section (to the back of the cab) but can't argue with protection the full length ones afford.
  17. Lot of factors play into it like have been mentioned - usage and condition of truck as well as height or physical ability of the person getting in. On my 86 4wd 3/4 I like the look of treadplate running boards. They help the kids get in without having to really look where they are placing their feet and they help a lot with preventing rock chips when on gravel roads. On our farm trucks (1 ton 4wd flatbeds) that my dad and grandpa use daily, we have both hoops and running boards. Nerfs would be better though for the added strength since the hoops have all had to have some repair on them. Something is needed though to help them get in as well as something to scrape boots off on. Surprisingly the running boards have held up pretty well. For 2wd 150's I like nothing on them. Just my preferences.
  18. I used a few bushings like that when taking apart unserviceable pieces on the 86. I got mine at my local Ace. They had some in mylar, brass, and some other 'plastic' that I can't recall. Might be worth a look.
  19. Bought a pair of these from this seller not long ago. No complaints at all. Can't beat the price, free shipping, and they got here fast.
  20. Looking great John! That mirror like finish (self portrait) is impressive.

  22. Not for the normal turn signals usage you don't. The one on the back is the hazard flasher so it will only matter when the hazard switch is pulled. The electronic flasher I used was too tall for the backside so I remote mounted mine.
