  1. I may have jumped the gun on proposing the thinking one. I've always thought of the original thinking (didn't realize it was called 'thinking' until now) as "duh/of course/why didn't I think of that". If people are using it for thinking (as it was obviously intended) though than maybe we don't need the new one.
  2. Gotcha. In that case, sounds like a plan to me. I think it's too big but combining one of these with your clear gauge pocket would be a neat setup. Wait - what about the arduino project? Won't that replace these?
  3. You are referring to the clear gauge 'bezel' you created, right? If so, since the back of the pocket will be cut out, can the gauges be removed from the clear bezel from behind? Clear would come out front and gauges rear. Or if the gauge bezels are built in and prevent this, what about slotting the clear bezel instead? Just thinking of an alternative, potentially less visible solution to slotting the weave bezel.
  4. First off, well played with the gif. Had to quickly mute a work call when that one popped up so I wouldn't have to explain the random laughter. Second, speaking for myself, I am happy with the new emoticon as well as the opened up page. (I'll take a look at that guide later)
  5. Looks like a nice condition work truck. The flatbed has a some good features to it and while it may have been spray painted, looks solid. If the red keeps flaking off, one might end up with a blue truck again Overall, a number of issues I'd want to resolve but nothing drastic for what the truck is. I see a lot of bullnose flatbeds locally but they've all been used pretty hard.
  6. Looks like a lot of it had to do with the brightness setting on my phone that was highlighting those corners. So no complaints from me
  7. I like the trade off. If being picky, it would be nice to have a transparent background and up the resolution - limited to what is out there so this may not be possible. I know at one time there was a thread for the emoticon choices so I may be rehashing that but... Where do most of the icons comes from? The ones that are all similar in design. Is this a nabble provided pack? Edit: disregard that I see those were created by Hugo (nabble) and it seems to be 'what is there is it' as far as that style goes. I was just curious in seeing if there was possibly a thinking one there that might just need enabled.
  8. Sounds like a great plan to me Gary. Thanks!I can't recall seeing the ninja so seems like a good swap to me.
  9. Ordered a couple of those sensors for backups Truck hasn't moved for quite awhile, partially because I haven't really gone anywhere but also because I decided it was time to check the brakes/bearings on the trailer. That led to wanting to redo all the wiring 'just because'. So now there is a 22' trailer up on jack stands waiting on bearings/races blocking the truck in My short speedometer cable jumper came in last week so that's all back installed. This is to replace the speed sensor previously mentioned. Then today the Woolwax kit I ordered came in. Before I can spray that though I want to apply some Eastwood inner frame coating to a few areas (under bed rails, rear wheel wells). Running out of warm weather though...
  10. Thanks for those photos. Big fan of the front and rear (now that I know what it is) bumpers! Really fits the look of the truck. Excited to watch the project progress.
  11. Yes, welcome! That is a neat, aggressive looking flareside you inherited. Interested in seeing more of the front bumper. The cylinder under the tailgate (to the right of the ball)? Originally thought exhaust but the shadows are throwing me off.
  12. I really like the silicone spray option. Just another reason to keep that handy stuff around. Out of curiosity, I called Fairchild (just the first link I recognized and clicked on). The rep I spoke to emailed me the installation instructions so am adding the screenshot just for the sake of having it here. Personally I am sold on using something else the next time around.
  13. Like this? Or, do you have another? Hey Gary - that would do it. I wonder though - would something like this get more mileage? Kind of a thinking/pondering one:
  14. This is reportedly for a Crown Victoria... could it work? https://www.ebay.com/itm/NOS-1980-FORD-CROWN-VICTORIA-COUNTRY-SQUIRE-CB-RADIO-NETWORK-ASBY-E0AZ-18B812-B/391972446546?epid=19014091589&hash=item5b4360e152:g:X5QAAOSwZ11acSjl I'll defer that to those more familiar with cb/snr/cable lengths/etc as I don't know if it's simply a matter of "if the cables reach" We need an idk/shrug emoticon ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  15. Wanted to say thanks for thinking of me! After some discussion, payment and shipping I received the full set of mirrors, wires and templates yesterday!!! I couldn't be happier. Now........who can help me find a CB radio? You are most likely thinking along the lines of a Ford CB radio system... the following is not that but is a period correct NOS aftermarket unit which looks like it will fit 1980-1984 trucks. https://www.ebay.com/itm/NOS-1970s-1980s-In-Dash-23-Channel-CB-with-AM-FM-MPX-Stereo-Radio-dp/264917588214?epid=1373319023&hash=item3dae5198f6:g:QIIAAOSwmGNfm2B4 Now that thing is NEAT! Missed the cb ask earlier but here's one I've had saved in marketplace for awhile (unknown if still available)- https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/190587475451756 I am 40min away so if someone wants it but the seller won't ship, we can figure something out. Note: appears to be missing the cradle and the antenna cable splitter (if getting picky )
  16. Hey, I wouldn't have asked if I didn't genuinely want to know/learn .
  17. Thanks! Never considered the difference between soap and detergent before beyond not using the former as a 1:1 replacement in a dishwasher Now that you describe it, I do recall seeing that Gojo before. Being that both are available locally (it and the personal lubricant), this gives people more options for the install
  18. Oh the days of watching Bill Bye in science class... But are you saying that Dawn Dish Soap (their words not mine) is not soap but is actually detergent? Or I may not be following the cause for your distinction comment. I haven't read anyone recommending what I'd consider detergent to be used in this application. Personal lubricant does make sense as it's not petroleum based (thanks google). The only gojo I've used is the gritty pumice stuff. Are you meaning that? This isn't an uncommon topic so knowing what should and shouldn't be recommended is good to have knowledge of. Again, I did a lot of reading/asking and felt comfortable enough with the soapy water to use it and this is the kind of stuff that keeps me up at night.
  19. Never thought about it but I don't think I've seen a black one with a clock either. Guess not many with the custom sprung for the clock upgrade Just ran out and checked on my 80 and it looks like the outmost slots are blank also. It's a little dusty so would have to loosen it and shine a light from behind to be 100% sure. I'll bet Gary has the definitive answer on both
  20. Interesting but must not be common knowledge as every video I watched (from various gasket suppliers and vehicle glass installers -so not just diyers) and forum threads all said use soapy water and a rope to install the gasket. That part of the gasket is the one in contact with the pinch weld and would be of more concern to me. The locking strip is in there so tightly and doesn't allow water intrusion anywhere so that would just leave your concern of rubber breakdown and I don't know how much would be needed to cause a noticeable effect and how many years it would take. Note that I am not talking about pure, undiluted soap by any means although I realuze it reads like that. One just needs enough in thr soapy water mix to allow the pieces to slide by each other. I will say that I called a local installer and they said they used petroleum jelly and that I would not do. Do you have details on this? Is it certain kinds of soap or a specific ingredient that should be avoided? Edit: this kind of stuff was a concern of mine and is why I called the installer to see if they had a specific product I found online for this purpose. That is when they told me they just used Vaseline . So all that to say, if you have plenty of lead time, there is a product out there made specifically for window gasket installation. I only found one person online reference it and can't recall who sold it. Maybe CRL?
  21. I got mine from Rubber The Right Way but it was packaged from Dennis Carpenter. I was really tempted to buy the tool but ended up just using those yellow harbor freight trim tools since they were on hand. It was the middle of the summer when I did mine so didn't apply heat but let it all sit in the sun for a bit and used dawn soap on the locking strip.
  22. Sorry to hear that. It does present itself well in photos though. Sounds like a smart call with the rust repair needing done - I don't check Bronco prices much but at the asking price, like you, I'd be wanting a solid daily. Side note - interesting to hear about how easy it is to get a title there. Here it's if no title then generally a parts or farm truck forever. Now I wonder if the states really are that different or if I was told about it not being worth it and just took it as gospel.
  23. Looks great and and to echo everyone else - so do the horns! I am sure you've mentioned it before but what's the story on the shop? That thing is roomy and well equipped. Love that rolling gantry.
