  1. As I'm sure you are aware, the service we've gotten on the Nabble server hasn't been all that good of late. And, I've told you about plans to fix that problem. Here's the latest... Some time ago a programmer got the open-source software that we use for the forum, called Nabble, to run on his own server. So the next step has been to secure a commercial server on which to host that software. With some research we settled on Amazon Web Hosting, and as of this morning we've contracted with AWS for a server that should give us excellent response time and a lot of room to grow. It will take some time to load up the software, load up one of our forum backups, and check everything out. I'm sure problems will arise along the way, but I feel pretty confident that this is going to work, and work very well. Ultimately we will have to cut over to the new server and take down the old one. And while that may take a few hours, the expectation is that all of our history will be preserved and everyone can log back in as if nothing has happened. I'll let you know when I know more, but hang in there, relief is on its way.
  2. TWA Flight 800 sure had problems, and that was just jet fuel: Dunno what kind of current the FQIS carried, but the Bullnose fuel level system is powered by a system capable of providing around 3 amps. So "crazy readings" on a Bullnose fuel gauge worry me. I've not heard or read of any truck catching fire from it, but it worries me.
  3. The thermal guages only average out the fluctuations due to turning corners or starting/stopping. But when they hit a dead spot in the trace they go to Empty pretty quickly. It is a poor design, for sure. And I'm amazed that we don't blow trucks up since there's up to 1/2 amp of current flowing and it is in the tank.
  4. Christian - I think your conclusions are reasonable. I think you said that they plumbed around the valve, right? So can you blow through the ports? In other words, does the valve seem to be working? I ask because it is a critical piece in the whole system, and if it isn't working you'll either have to replace it or do something different. As for the fuel senders, the one in the front tank is typical - it works at different points but not everywhere.
  5. Welcome, Joe! I'll be looking forward to following your build. So, where's home? We have a map (Bullnose Forum/Member's Map in the menu) and we could add you if we had a city or zip. Maybe you are close to one of us?
  6. I'm glad you found it, that the stock parts fit, and the engine is running well. And I'm with Jim - tell them you found the problem and decline the refund. I'm glad we are back to probably having a good, cheap source for carbs.
  7. Something like this? https://www.bluelakeoffroad.com/rear-multi-carrier-bumper/rear-multicarrier-bumper-f150-bronco-72-96-and-super-duty-72-98-tapered/ My truck doesn't have a spare tire on it so I went looking. -BDH I'd looked at the Blue Lake Offroad site before - and wasn't impressed with the site at all. The inability to see what I'm buying is puts me off. I see the bumper and I tick that I want the swing arm for a tire and nothing changes. So I don't know if I like what it would look like. Having ticked the boxes to get it like mine was intended to be I get $1374. Then there's another $150 for them to weld it up. Plus tax and shipping I think we are at $2k - and I don't know if I'd like it. My thread on my plans is Rear Bumper/Spare Tire Mount Thoughts, and this post might get you started with roughly where I left it. And here are a couple of renderings:
  8. Ok, Mickey, tell us what is happening with the trucks. Let's start with the 1982 first.
  9. This thread is to help Mickey get one of his two trucks going. His post follows....
  10. Mickey - You did post in the wrong spot, but we can overcome that. Your first post was supposed to be in the New Members Start Here folder because that is where our guidelines are posted and we want to make sure everyone has seen them. But we also sent them to you in the "welcome" email. So just assure me that you've read them and all will be well. As for your trucks and your plight, that sounds like a problem. And you are going to need our help in getting one of them going. But this is not the best place for that. So I'm going to start a thread in the main section where more people will see it and move your post to that thread.
  11. That's where you lose me. We have a link that takes you to the Ford part of "uhaultruckpartsonline", as they call it. I assume that is the ebay storefront you mentioned. But where's the online store?
  12. See what you think now. I can't edit the poll, but could delete it and reinstate it - I think.
  13. Yes, with the exception being Flaresides as they were always below the body line. In 1987 the color went back to above the body line, and then in 1992 it dropped back down below the body line. I've always preferred the upper body line on deluxe and combination tu-tone Bullnose trucks because the accent color looks too narrow on the 85-86 trucks, especially the early 85's with that rare upper molding (just my opinion). Didn't know that, Shaun. Thanks for the education. I've got it, I've got it, .... :nabble_smiley_cry:I ain't got it.
  14. Check it out: http://forum.garysgaragemahal.com/U-Haul-td73497.html
  15. U-Tech Center is U-Haul's truck part's store and has parts for lots of vehicles, including our Bullnose trucks, at excellent prices with dirt cheap shipping. You may have to do some looking, but there is gold in them there Hauls.
  16. Wow! $1/each!?!? Btw, this reminds me. I need a link for u-techcenter for the ratings/review thread. Got one?
  17. Haven't driven anything with a "Rotchester" in quite some time, but I'm pretty sure I have a 2GC and a Q-Jet stashed away. The latter is my favorite carb.
  18. I told Google northeastern Ontario, Canada and it dropped a pin there. See what you think of the location: Bullnose Forum/Member's Map.
  19. LOL! I have a freebie from HF that has the switch right beside the LEDs. Turning it on isn't too bad once you learn to look away. But finding the switch to turn it off is painful.
  20. And they don't have a replaceable battery. Just a lithium ion. George - That's what I thought.
  21. Mike's provides parts, specs, and kits for a wide variety of carburetors. For instance: Carter YF/YFA: Don't miss the technical catalog with a video on how to ID them, rebuild instructions, exploded views, troubleshooting, etc. Ford 2150: 7200 VV Holley 4180
