  1. Right now I cannot get my front brakes to lock up no matter how hard I hit the pedal. The rear will lock up. Yall got me leaning more towards that ball joint axle now....hmmmm..... I decided to not go with the Skysoffroad RSK. I just bought factory f350 from leaf springs. I know everyone swears by it, I just don't like the look of having to cut up the bumper, and all the extra work involved. Main goal is to basically have the extra towing capacity of a 1 ton, over my 3/4 ton TTB. If I was going to put serious miles on this truck, I'd have done the rsk. I'm hoping to basically make this a tow rig and occasional driver. I've decided to put the edison motors hybrid project money into my 72' International Loadstar. So just doing some basic load capability upgrades to the f250, and making it more road worthy, vs a Mud Terrain tired bouncy bounce truck. If you can’t lock up the fronts then the dual-piston brakes should help. And if that doesn’t then you can still go to hydroboost later.
  2. Ok, time for an update. And much of this is to record what I've found so that I can get back to it. With Jeff's help I think we've gotten a bit of the registration process sorted - the bit about posting in the NMSH folder. What I understand that we want is for a newbie's first action to only be to start a new "thread" in NMSH to introduce himself, not to reply to someone else's introduction - as so many have. So I set it up so that a New Member can only start a "thread" and cannot reply until they've been promoted to a Regular Member. And that was supposed to immediately happen on their first post. However, apparently a "post" in Invision is a reply. And a "thread" is called a "conversation". So instead of promoting someone on their "1st post" we are promoting them when they are a "conversation starter". And that seems to work. So now we need to figure out how to show them the guidelines AND tell them that the absolute only thing they will be able to do is to introduce themselves in the NMSH folder. Ideally we will then give them a button to click that will say they agree to adhere to the guidelines and they will then be whisked away to a new thread/conversation in NMSH. One step at a time...
  3. Have you don't hydroboost on big blue? I've been thinking about it, but vacuum brakes work fine unloaded. I have trailer brakes, so I really haven't felt the need for hydroboost brake upgrade. Wondering if that plus the dual piston is a major upgrade and worth it. I don't think hydroboost makes a truck stop any better. You still have the same brakes and tires, so if you can lock the brakes with vacuum that's as good as it gets. However, it FEELS like you have better brakes.
  4. I'm running a ball-joint D60 on Big Blue and like it. The adjusters that go in at the top provide plenty of adjustment w/o having to bend anything. And the slightly bigger brakes with two pistons are a minor benefit as well. Not saying it is better, but it worked out nicely for me.
  5. Don't go to the bank with any illustration in the MPC. The illustrators used a good-enough approach, apparently figuring that you'd get the idea. Plus, it was printed on an 8 1/2 x 11" page at most, and sometimes microfiche, so you couldn't see much of the detail. But these are scanned at a very high resolution so you can blow them up, like I did for that screenshot, letting you see detail they may not have thought you'd see. As for the year range, I don't know. There are mistakes in the MPC as well as in the aftermarket catalogs, so maybe that accounts for it? Anyway, hope they work. Please let us know as I will want to add some notes to the MPC as well as our pages.
  6. I really like the later style with the inboard support.
  7. A 460 on steroids, for sure! Are you going to do it like Ford did in the 70's with the stem sticking through the floor where the driver's left hand would reach it beside the seat? And how are you switching the gauge - with the old switch?
  8. If he is selling it for his father that shouldn't be a problem. But he should have mentioned that in the advert.
  9. Nice looking truck. And I like the white steelies. Many of the trucks came with them.
  10. Hello, Ray! Long time no see. Might you be visiting this area on Sept 14th? That's when the show is. As for tires, I'm running 33” Falken Wildpeak AT3W’s on Big Blue. Took some terribly noisy Cooper Discoverers off and love these. MUCH quieter. I did a lot of research and it got down to the KO2's vs the AT3W's and I chose the latter due to wet road rating and several reviews. The KO3's might been better on wet roads. Don't know.
  11. That is a bummer! And, as I said in my comment to your video, it is exactly while I will not even install a Cardone, aka Car Done, gear box, much less buy one. If they won't send you yet another box, and I doubt they will, let's see if anyone in the forum has a core they will give you to send to Blue Top. I think I've sent my last one in but will look.
  12. Yep Gary, I'm following your discussion with "Gary"," Jim M" and "Nathan Explosion" on the their «Technical Problems» thread (your post "Registration Process Questions"). I did 3 tests this morning (3 new members), and it stil the same: • I can directly click the checkbox "I agree of the Terms of Use" OR • I can click the link "Terms of Use" and have a window that pops up with our Forum Guidelines. So, I can avoid to read at our guidelines if I click the checkbox directly. Good luck for your eyes! Take care! I'm home from laser surgery and doing well. But with the eyes dilated working on the computer isn't as easy as it should be later. So for now I'm going to work on this re the show, like getting tee shirts and trophies ordered. Will work the registration process later.
  13. Good point, Bill. But, if Vivek takes it back to Tejas then he won’t need those parts.
  14. Nice truck. And I think they are right about the camper keeping the sun off. If that is the case they the paint should buff out nicely. Normally CA trucks have a bunch of emissions stuff on them that the 49-state trucks don't have. But the 460 might be a different story, especially in an F350. Fair price? Maybe use Hagerty? Here's there evaluation, and here's their description of conditions. I'd guess that truck is a #3. Does the A/C work? How new are the tires? As for getting it home, how about driving it? Ask them if they'd put it on the road. If so, after you check it out maybe have the fluids changed and head home. Then bring it to the show.
  15. ISWYDT, Jim. From the two labels I can see that the calibration must be 9-73J-R12, and that agrees with the first snippet from the MPC. Which then leads us to Parts List #56, which is shown in the 2nd snippet.
  16. I'm guessing that is 378437, as shown below from the 1973-79 MPC. And "1977/" means it was used from '77 through '79. That number doesn't show up in the 1980/89 MPC, the 1986 Standard & Utility Catalog, nor the Auevco catalog. But I hope it fits. They appear to be available in a lot of places.
  17. Thanks, Jim. But it is supposed to be a very easy thing. This website says it is called posterior capsular opacification and here's what they do:
  18. Sorry Gentlemen, time was missing yesterday. I'll make a test today. No problem, Jeff. In the Invision support forum a nice guy named Gary, oddly enough, said we can see what things are going to look like by: So I can play with that this afternoon after my eye surgery - assuming I can see well enough.
  19. Beautiful sunset, Bob! We had feels-like temps of around 110F today with real temps about 102F. But Friday is to be 88F for a high and 50% chance of rain. We need it!
  20. Amen, brother! That's the way to do it. And, get a spare cap to put an air fitting on. Hook a garden sprayer to the air fitting and power bleed the brakes.
