  1. You are right, Jim. He's above the Arctic Circle, so it is DARK up there! But now it is headed the other way.
  2. Bill - Don't miss my question in the previous post. As for what I did today, not a lot. But I did get a start on the bracket for the fog lights. I cut an 18" piece of the aluminum channel but needed to cut it down the length at the 1" line to effectively make a piece of angle. But not having a good way to do that with a saw I did it with the mill. (When all you have is a hammer everything looks like a nail.) Here's the tail end of the "cut": Then I drilled the holes for the 7/16" bolts to go through the bumper and spot-faced them on the back side to be flat and take a washer. Here you can see the spot-face on the left and a washer set in on the right, but what you can't really tell is how deep the relief is toward the top. It took removal of a lot of aluminum to make that spot parallel to the bumper. Tomorrow I hope to get the holes drilled and spot-faced for the lights, the corners rounded, and the angle that Bruce suggested cut. However, the bolts that attach the bracket to the bumper protrude quite a bit so there's no need to take as much out of the bracket as depicted in the drawing since the nut & bolt would then be the tight spot. Still, I'll make it look better, for sure. Then maybe I can get it powder coated and mounted. What color of powder? Black? Or the aluminum-looking powder used on several things under the hood, like the dipstick stay?
  3. Yes, I always see the master cylinders. I think if one brushed it with some of that rust converter it would do wonders. Turn it black, at least. It is a lovely truck though. The lack of A/C might make it a tougher sell, but it's still in pretty wicked condition regardless. Yes, that master cylinder is UGLY! But the booster is painted gray or silver? Otherwise, that is one very nice truck! But what kind of heater is that? The HD one? I don't think I've seen the heater hoses enter from the passenger's side that way. And, with the Offy intake, 4bbl, & header it should run nicely.
  4. It certainly is NICE! But I'm not all that fond of the brown and green combo. Or is that beige? Says the interior is tan.
  5. Welcome!!! Glad you joined! What part of Norway? I ask for three reasons. First, I've been to Stavanger several times on business and my wife and I were there as well as Bergen and Eidfjord a couple of years ago on a Viking cruise. Second, we have a map (Bullnose Forum/Member's Map in the menu) and we'd love to add you if we just had a city. Third, we have another member in Norway - Christian in Narvik. Hope you'll post pics of your Bronco. Maybe even start a thread in the main section about it?
  6. Now you see it, and now you don't. Going out this afternoon.
  7. Excellent! Yes, good tools make ALL the difference. Glad it all worked out well.
  8. Interesting. Hadn't thought of a steering damper causing the movement to go elsewhere. But that makes sense. I guess I'll drive it this way a bit more and see what I think. Thanks.
  9. Here's what Green Sales said: "We do have E5TZ16B072A , $5.00 plus shipping." Haven't heard from Dennis Carpenter yet.
  10. Bill - Thanks for all of that. But, your statement of "First, the PSOM board on the speedometer, it does three things, converts the pulse signal to a format the speed control and EEC can use..." worries me. Are you saying the EEC-V can't use the pulse signal from the speedo cable? I thought we'd said it can. I'm pretty sure the EEC-IV can because Huck, the 1990 half-truck, had a vacuum speed control, a speedometer cable, and EEC-IV w/o a PSOM. But can the EEC-V?
  11. Let me see if I can summarize. (I was in the middle of summarizing Bob and Jim's input when the phone rang and my brother, who has a broken ankle, informed me that his wife has COVID, albeit with a mild set of symptoms. Which then allowed Bill's input to come in.) I have the VSS signal available currently from the speed control sensor in the speedo cable, but can fairly easily put the VSS device in the t-case and get a VSS signal from there, which might be better as it may not be subject to any variations due to speedo cables. And it will work with the EEC-V ECU. Right? But will that signal work with the electronic speed control in place of the PSOM output? I'm not sure I understand that part.
  12. I agree with Cory, it is great to get one in original condition, even if dirty. The hacks sometimes make it very difficult to figure out what they've done. One thing I spotted is the TFI ignition module sticking off the distributor. Those were notorious for failing due to the heat they were subjected to, so Ford later moved them to the fender and extended the wiring. That can be done to this truck, but that assumes you'll want to keep it running the emissions system that is on it, which probably includes a feedback carb. Another approach if you aren't required to keep the emissions system in tact is to go with a DS-II ignition system. But we can talk about that as you get into it and find out what works and what doesn't. Good luck and happy treasure hunting!
  13. I can't tell you what will work and won't work on the water pump/timing case issue. You need help from some of the others, like maybe Cory or Shaun. Let's see if they chime in. As for the telephone #, we have no rules regarding that. So if you want to post your telephone number go ahead. But you may get a lot of crank calls as this forum is, like most forums, visible to anyone in the world. At the very least I'd make the numbers into words for part of it, like my area code is nine one eight.
  14. OK, I got it. Well, I got it for a while. PSOM is the module, and VSS is probably the whatchamacallit. So, will the electronic speed control really need the output from a PSOM? Or will it work from a VSS? Again, the '96 EVTM says "Utilizing a vehicle speed sigĀnal from Programmable Speedometer/Odometer Module..." It appears the ECU will work from the VSS, so I think I'd be happy with just the VSS feeding the ECU and running the vacuum speed control, assuming the electronic speed control does take the PSOM. But can the vacuum speed control be fed by the VSS, which might bypass any issues with speedo cables as it is prior to the cable? Sure would be easy to plug that guy into the t-case and run two wires up and bypass the current speed sensor.
  15. It sounds like the engine is lean and you are overcoming that with the accelerator pump. (And, by the way, it does seem like you may have a blown accelerator pump with the gas leaking.) And a lean condition could be a vacuum leak. But, it could also be due to a stuck open EGR valve, which is supposed to be closed at idle. So if it was stuck open it would allow some exhaust gas in all the time and that makes for poor running. Having replaced the EGR valve you may see an immediate improvement, or at least change, in the way it runs. Lets hope it fixes that problem.
  16. Sorry, Jim. I've not had many timeouts that take the post away, but I have had blank screens come up that make my heart jump into my throat. Perhaps you could copy the text before hitting Post?
  17. Oh, re-reading that, PSOM is a module and VSS might be the whatchamacallit? Or the speed control sensor in the speedo cable?
  18. Dane - I don't know about adjustable squirters, but I'd be in the market if they are available. Right now I have water-gun streams hitting the windshield. They'll work, but a targeted spray would be nicer. However, I might find the original Bricknose nozzle as it is in the shop somewhere. Bill & Bob - Perhaps terminology is getting in the way. I thought PSOM was a module that took the signal from the rear axle and converted it to some other signal. Maybe not? And, the EEC-V ECU does require input from the Vehicle Speed Sensor. Unfortunately I don't have those pages on the site yet under the 1996 EVTM, but suspect they'll show up later today, although I do need to make a trip to the shipping store for a large, flat plate. I do have a whatchamacallit that plugs into the transmission/tranfer case speedo hole and provides both an output for a speedo cable as well as an electrical output. Is that the same as the output from the ring gear, although probably at a different rate? Will that work as input to the ECU and speed control?
  19. Our page on clutch linkage part numbers shows one box/bracket for manual transmissions. My note there says that the E4TZ bracket, which would be for hydraulic linkages, replaced an E0TZ and an E1TZ bracket, both of which would have been for mechanical linkages. So it seems to me that if a hydraulic bracket will work for a mechanical linkage your mechanical bracket should work on a hydraulic linkage. I'm pretty sure that the shaft itself is different, but the one from the later box should work, just like the pedal will. On the timing cover, if the engine had a serpentine system then the timing cover should be correct. If not, I don't think it will.
  20. Sometimes I get lucky, Jim. But, I'd forgotten about the timing case and I do think you are right, the reverse rotation pump discharges on the other side and the openings are different. Good catch!
