  1. Ok, the bracket is done save for powder coating, which should happen tomorrow. Here's it is on the left and then with the reservoir and the PDB bracket in place on the right: But there's an oddity built into it for supporting the coolant part of the reservoir. The washer part sits against the fender liner, but there was no good support for the reservoir side so I put a piece of channel in for it to sit down into. You can see it here, but after I powder coat it I'm going to put some of the foam insulation into the vee to pad it nicely. Here it is in place although not truly bolted down yet since I have to powder coat it. And there's a pic with the lid to the PDB open to show that works as well. But, there's a problem. The idiot that designed it didn't account for how he was going to get under the PDB and put nuts on the screws holding its bracket to the larger bracket. Had he turned the pieces of angle 180 degrees around then he could have reached under, albeit with some difficulty. But the way it is there's no way to do it. So he's now thinking he'll put nutserts in there.
  2. Good intro! And nice looking restoration. Would you like to be on our map? You can see it at Bullnose Forum/Member's Map in the menu, and we can add you if you'd like.
  3. Got it to work on my phone. Cool! Nice and smooth under the hood and has a bark to the exhaust. And if your wife enjoys driving it you have a winner!!!
  4. Welcome! Glad you joined. However, you probably missed the email you were sent asking you to go to the New Members Start Here folder, read the guidelines, and then start a thread in that folder to introduce yourself and your truck. Not to worry as about half the people do. But that step is important as we have the guidelines there and want to ensure you have a chance to read them as we hold everyone to them. So, can you assure me you've read them? As for the differences: Locks: The 1980 trucks will have slide locks while the 1982 trucks have pin locks. And the 1981 trucks are split, with some plants having changed in March of '81 to pins and some not until summer. So doo panels and lock mechanisms are different. And the doors are as well, but there's an easy fix for that. Instrument Panel: The order of the warning "windows" changed such that turn signals and high beam moved, if I remember correctly, between 1980 and '81. So the wiring in the connector to the instrument panel changed. But the wiring is easily changed by swapping it in the connector. However, the instrument panel bezel isn't as easily changed as the labels are glued in. Turn Signal Lenses: 1980 lenses were clear and 1982 lenses were amber, with 1981 lenses changing like the door locks did - by plant. Other than that, I'm not sure what other changes there were.
  5. You need to do two things: 1. Assure me you've read the guidelines. 2. Post your question in the main section by starting a new thread rather than tack onto someone else's thread. That way you'll get the best response.

  7. No sound! I had it all the way up and could hear NOTHING! And I so badly wanted to hear Espy! But, she looks good.
  8. 1951 Plymouth? I drove a '50 to high school. It was my father's car and it was indestructible. Not fast. Not flashy. But solid. Anyway, sounds like you have a plan. Good luck!
  9. Yes, you need a camera for each view. But I don't know if it comes with any of them. I asked the Crutchfield tech that last night and he's not answered yet. Maybe today was his day off. It looks to me like it comes with one harness to connect to a rear camera as well as the backup light circuit. And another harness to connect to side/mirror cameras as well as the turn signal circuits. But I think all I want are two exterior cameras, one for the rear and one for the front. So I'm happy to have the backup camera come on in Reverse, but am wondering about the front camera. As said, maybe the hazards?
  10. Got a big part of the bracket for the reservoir & PDB made today. Actually have the reservoir part of it done, just need to do the PDB part. Maybe tomorrow afternoon as we are running errands in the morning. Will have pics when it is done.
  11. This dialog was had on the Corvette Forum: Can somebody tell me how to measure AN fitting sizes? I have a friend with an AN fitting at home, but he doesn't know what size it is. He needs an AN to 1/8" pipe adapter for his WWII jeep. So if I tell him to "grab a ruler and do this....." what would the "do this..." part be. :) scorp, "16ths" so a -10 would be 10/16 or 5/8 and a -6 is 6/16 or 3/8 generally - numbers are even (4/6/8/10/12/16/20) BUT I have a -3 brakelines on my racer. Your best bet would be an Aeroquip catalog or a dealer because there is also the angle of the flare to think about. Perfomance AN fittings are 37degree who knows what they used in "the BIG one" WWll. So if I understand that correctly, to get a 1" female fitting it would have to be "-16", or 16/16ths. But that doesn't say what the thread pitch is.
  12. We had another that said she wanted on. I responded via email to say "Please explain why you want on the Bullnose Forum. We are experiencing a wave of despicable spammers and are now holding off adding new members until they explain why they want on." Assuming she is a spammer, we had 3 in 12 minutes.
  13. I think having had two spammers in 10 minutes suggests we suspend new members for a bit.
  14. Oh! Ok, that makes a difference. And I don't know.
  15. This newbie has just been banned. I'll delete his posts after he hangs on the gibbet for a bit.
  16. Good update. $29 is cheap for that peace of mind. Kill switch? W/o a security system?
  17. From what I'm reading a 1 - 12 bolt would have essentially a 1.000" major diameter, and you are probably reading the major diameter, as shown below. Perhaps you can use a 1" fine thread bolt in it with some Loctite?
  18. The way the system works if the resistance of the senders went to zero it would pull too much current through the circuit and fry something.
  19. Good point, David. Another issue could be that the system is limp-home mode. If the computer senses that something isn't right it'll lock the timing and there will be no advance of any kind. I'd pull the codes and see what is ailing it.
  20. I hope you achieve that smooth progression. But IIRC, Ford says that 22 ohms should give a center reading on the gauges. IOW, the 10 to 72 ohms apparently isn't linear.
