  1. My local dealership is also fairly new, used to be Courtesy Ford in the 70s and is now an Auto Nation thing. Hmmm...... according to Bill, we stopped at 23 dealerships - way too many to remember. But I have some pictures from a place in Texas we stopped at: And there's this place near OKC as I remember - I think Gary said he's seen it but never noticed the glass: And then this place, I guess it's called Harlan Ford (now relocated in a new building a few blocks away): Chris - I think the one with the etched glass is in Ponca City, where we lived for several years. I've driven by the building many times, but never noticed the glass.
  2. You going to get them on soon? I keep reading about all the snow the East Coast is getting.
  3. Ray - That's a good point about induction and series-wound motors. Which is what others have been trying to tell me for some time. So, a really tight engine, or too much initial advance?
  4. Using what type of platform to post? This is from a Win10 laptop (using Firefox, even!) and everything seems to be working well for me again... Yes, I thought that problem was banished with the cookie change as I haven't had it since. However, when I was having it I found that hitting Control + or Control - to increase/decrease the screen size usually worked. You might try that and see if it helps.
  5. Thanks, Bill. But I think the key is how the recirculating air duct is shaped and sized, and that piece is probably different on the Bullnose trucks than the 90's. However, I have several of the pieces in the attic and in a week or so can check them out.
  6. I added a page to show the original batteries used. Not all that helpful, but it is at Electrical/Batteries
  7. I sure hope they are exactly the same size. But, I'm wanting to see which process yields the best result.
  8. I have wondered that myself, but have assumed that it is a poorly-drawn gasket. Will have to check it out when I can.
  9. I don't think they occupy the same space. The one on the firewall (19C590) is the Air Conditioner Recirculating Air Duct Assembly and the one the motor goes in (19A559) is the Air Conditioner Evaporator Core Housing - as shown here after I added them.
  10. I was actually trying to point just in front of the flange, where I think the slot could go.
  11. Ok, I think I'm starting to understand. I think you are saying to cut a slot in the plenum that attaches to the firewall. Correct? And, I think you are assuming, which is probably a good assumption, that the squirrel cage will hit the filter w/o spacing it out. Right? I thought I had pictures of the pieces, here, but unfortunately I only have pics of the interior pieces. I need to rectify that omission when I can as good pics would help a lot in this discussion. But, my question was whether or not it looks like the fan will pass through the rectangular opening of that plenum. If not, then maybe no spacing is needed?
  12. Pete has an excellent point. The ignition switch on these trucks is actually a separate unit on the steering column well below the tumbler where the key goes in. It is actuated by a linkage, and if the lube for the tumbler or linkage or switch are dry the switch may not come out of Start. Or, the switch may not be properly adjusted. I have a writeup here (Electrical/Ignition Switch) that shows where the components are, how they work, and how to adjust the switch.
  13. I like that! As shown below. But, why space the motor out? Why not pull the motor and put the filter through the opening - assuming it can be done? However, looking at the illustration below I'm not so sure:
  14. I was thinking that some did put the ECU in the air filter housing/box, but couldn't remember who did. If it was in the bottom of the air box it would get cooling air, and unless you went in really deep it would remain dry. But, there's probably not enough room in the existing air box?
  15. Jim - Simple is good. Mine isn't that simple. Bill - Here's a shot from a page in a manual someone gave me () that shows a simple cutaway of the HVAC system. I realize it probably isn't this easy, but if a filter could be put there then it would filter all the air, whether fresh or recirculate. I'll have to take a peek inside the ducting I have to see if that's even possible. Perhaps it could come in via the blower motor's hole?
  16. John - Welcome to the Bullnose Forum! I, too, am retired, albeit from IT in my case. And, I've wrenched all my life, but am learning that in this phase of my life if I want to get things done more quickly I'll farm them out. Like paint/body work, engine and tranny building, etc. But, there are sooooo many things I want to do on my trucks that aren't reasonable to farm out, so I get a bit involved.
  17. Chris - That's cool! I'd love to see a how-I-did-it thread. You could start one in Projects and lock it so others can post - if you want to. That way you have the whole thing to yourself and we can ask questions elsewhere.
  18. Cool stuff! I enjoy reading this, but have nothing to contribute as my dealership is fairly new. But Chris or Numberdummy/Bill could tell us of dealerships they found on their trip to Oklahoma.
  19. That makes sense. I'll await your next installment.
  20. Is that their picture, or have you gotten it? It does look good! Lets take really good, close-up pics of our bezels when we get them so we can compare. On Wed, Jan 10, 2018 at 9:24 PM, reamer [via Bullnose Enthusiasts] <redacted_email_address> wrote:
  21. Glad you made progress, and glad to know how it is supposed to ride. But, what will you do now about the pull?
  22. Jim - Welcome back, Kotter! Yes, you are right about the hazards of trying to make it a new vehicle. But, I do want to see how I might incorporate a filter. I have all the bits and pieces that would let me look at most options without pulling Big Blue apart, so may do that when the time comes. David - I'm not sure that all my adventures will be in the summer. So, I'm thinking about winter as well. Seems to me that the best approach would be to put an electrically-operated vacuum valve on the feed to the recirculate door, and then put a Recirc switch in the cab. Most modern vehicles have that button or switch, and it would be easily done.
  23. True. But how to get to it to change it? Might there be a way to put one where it is accessible by pulling the motor? Also, this is making me rethink the recirc door and heater hose controls. It would sure be nice to have A/C, and maybe vent, and still have temp control - while the recirculate door is closed to keep the dust down.
  24. Nabble tells me they've fixed the scrolling problem. So, after today please let me know if you see the problem again.
