  1. For what it's worth (and somewhat off topic), I also have my winch wiring powered through a relay, so the big heavy cables that run the length of the Bronco for the rear connector aren't live all the time. That wasn't real cheap (I bought a Warn kit that included the relay, cable to run to the back and a couple of the connectors), but it seemed like a good idea. Interesting approach. I do have a relay that should be good for that much current, but at this point I don't think I'm going to have a need for the winch to be mounted on a receiver. I'm thinking that mounted on either the front bumper or the trailer will be enough. Having said that, I won't have a way to use the winch with Blue unless I wire up a connector on it. But, it doesn't have near the battery capacity that Big Blue does, although it has a lot more alternator. Hmmmm...
  2. That's really good info. Thanks for that research - I'll be using it.
  3. FTE has determined that my posts there about the show & swap meet are in violation of their rules and they are in the process of deleting the posts. I wasn't aware of that rule and know others that weren't, but apparently that's their ruling. So, I apologized. They did officially suggest that I call it an FTE Oklahoma chapter get-together and then the posts could stay. But, since it is not associated with FTE and is an international event, not an Oklahoma one, calling it a chapter get-together would be dishonest - so I declined. Fortunately the other forums, like FSB, Fordification, Broncozone and others where I've posted apparently don't have the same rule so their members will know about the show. But, it appears that our friends at FTE are going to be in the dark. Given that, if you know of other ways to get the word out to them please let me know.
  4. Wow! That's a true "custom". But, who are you calling a "creep"?
  5. Bill - by "full set" do you mean the Pre-deliver, Engine, and Chassis etc manuals? And you have the EVTM. But are there more?
  6. My justification for the trailer was that a used trailer sells for at least 80% of the new price - not accounting for inflation. And I've already put 1/3 the price of the trailer into other people's trailers just to use them. So, it really isn't going to cost much to have the trailer. But, it is a chunk of money to have tied up.
  7. Ok guys, I got started. Please take a look and see if I did it correctly: Documentation I know I have far more than that, but this is all I know of off the top of my head. Except the parts catalogs, which are too many to list. Hmmmm......
  8. This thread is to list the Ford publications which Bullnose Forum members have that cover these trucks. However, I'll not list the brochures that I own because they are included in the Literature section of the website. Note that this is not a list of documentation that is available to check out or share. Instead, it is intended to give us an idea who might be able to answer a question when it comes up - when asked by an active member of this forum. 1980: Light Truck Service Specifications: Gary Do-It-Yourself Service Guide: Gary Shop Manual - Pre-Delivery Lubrication Maintenance: Gary Shop Manual - Engine: Gary Shop Manual - Body Chassis Electrical: Gary Electrical and Vacuum Troubleshooting Manual (EVTM): Gary 1979/1980 Carburetor Adjustments training book: Gary 1981: Owner's manual: Gary Shop Manual - Engine: Gary Shop Manual - Body Chassis Electrical: Gary Wiring Diagrams: Gary Electrical and Vacuum Troubleshooting Manual (EVTM): Gary 1981/82 Carburetor Adjustments training book: Gary Light Truck Facts Organizer: Gary This is the book the dealers were given that gives all the details 1982: Owner's manual: Dyn Blin Shop Manual - Pre-Delivery Lubrication Maintenance: Din Blin Shop Manual - Engine: Dyn Blin Shop Manual - Body Chassis Electrical: Dyn Blin Car & Truck Engine/Emissions Fact Book Summary: Din Blin Wiring Diagrams: Dyn Blin Electrical and Vacuum Troubleshooting Manual (EVTM): Dyn Blin 1981/82 Carburetor Adjustments training book: Gary Light Truck Facts Organizer: Gary This is the book the dealers were given that gives all the details 1983: 1983/84 Carburetor Adjustments training book: Gary Light Truck Facts Organizer: Gary This is the book the dealers were given that gives all the details 1984: Car & Truck Engine/Emissions Fact Book Summary: JMUBullnose, Rembrant Do-It-Yourself Service Guide: JMUBullnose, Rembrant Shop Manual - Pre-Delivery Lubrication Maintenance: JMUBullnose, Rembrant Shop Manual - Engine: JMUBullnose, Rembrant Shop Manual - Body Chassis Electrical: JMUBullnose, Rembrant Shop Manual - Emission Diagnosis Engine Electronics: Rembrant Wiring Diagrams: Gary Electrical and Vacuum Troubleshooting Manual (EVTM): Gary, Rembrant 1983/84 Carburetor Adjustments training book: Gary 1985: Owner's manual: Gary Car & Truck Engine/Emissions Fact Book Summary: Gary Do-It-Yourself Service Guide: Gary Shop Manual - Pre-Delivery Lubrication Maintenance: Gary Shop Manual - Engine: Gary Shop Manual - Body Chassis Electrical: Gary Wiring Diagrams: Gary Electrical and Vacuum Troubleshooting Manual (EVTM): Gary 1985/86 Carburetor Adjustments training book: Gary 1986: Shop Manual - Pre-Delivery Lubrication Maintenance: Bill/85lebaront2 Shop Manual - Engine: Bill/85lebaront2 Shop Manual - Body Chassis Electrical: Bill/85lebaront2 Wiring Diagrams: Bill/85lebaront2 Electrical and Vacuum Troubleshooting Manual (EVTM): Bill/85lebaront2 1985/86 Carburetor Adjustments training book: Gary All Years: 1980 - 89 Master Parts Catalog: 1982 version on microfiche: Gary 1989 version on microfiche: Gary 1994 version on CD: Gary Master Cross Reference List: Cross reference part # to service or engineering # Volume 5 - April 1980: Gary Volume 6 - April 1985: Gary Volume 7 - October 1991: Gary Obsolete/Supersede/Interchange Catalog: Provides #'s for parts that can be interchanged Volume 5 - January 1996: Gary Volume 6 - January 2000: Gary Genuine Parts Distributors Cat. 9. That brings up an idea. What do you think about us having a virtual library? By that I mean I could create a page, maybe in the resources folder, that shows what publications we collectively have. That way if one of us has a question we'd know who might be able to answer it. I can start with what I have and then others can chime in with what they have. And, it won't hurt if several of us have the same publication to show that. Perhaps someone is on vacation or just can't get to it at the moment and another other person can. Thoughts ya'll?
  10. Happy to help. This is what this forum is all about - collaboration and cooperation.
  11. And, by the way, I updated the web page to include that size on the illustration.
  12. It is a Bolt-hex. washer head- 3/8"-16 x 4 1/4". That's according to the 1973-79 Master Parts Catalog. Unfortunately the 1980-86 catalog doesn't have that info, nor does Ford's Standard And Utility Parts Catalog. And I was about to give up when I thought of the other catalogs I have. And that's great that Rembrant shipped you the stuff. That's the Bullnose spirit!
  13. Oh, the ball stud. I think I went to O'Reilly's and bought a kit of ball studs and found the one that fits the Ford linkage. And that plate is awful. If I remember correctly you are supposed to put one of the two bolts that go into the manifold through a bolt hole in the plate. And the other bolt goes into the manifold and catches an edge of the plate. I think. Seemed awfully Mickey Mouse to me.
  14. Ok. We can pick this up again then. I think I left enough tracks that I can get back to where I was.
  15. ...especially the ammeter! Amen! I've broken two of those rascals because the stud rotated.
  16. Happily noted. And, as you'll see, I'm working on a list of those I need to remind. So, if you think of people please let me know. Also, if anyone comes up with other places or ways to advertise I'd like to know that as well. For instance, if your local paper, assuming that still exists, has a way to run a free or cheap advert then maybe I should - or you should for me.
  17. I'll bet that's what it is. But I have no way to verify that. Unless, of course, I get close to one of the rare Bullnoses I see when we are in Nicaragua. However, the Sandinistas overthrew the Somozan government in 1979 and were in power until 1990. We sided with Somoza and American vehicles quit being imported. So there are very, very few Bullnose trucks there, and the few that are may have been brought in by someone from the States. So, it is unlikely that I'll find one, but I'll look.
  18. Those are the connectors I have on my receiver-mount winch. I used 5 of them for what I wanted to do. I put one on the winch mount, with really short wires going to the winch solenoid box. That way I don't have long power leads dragging around when I move the winch. I put a second under the hood, and then put the third and fourth on either end of about 4 feet of cable. So when I'm not actually using the winch there's no connection from the winch to the battery, but it's just plugging in both ends of my "extension cord" to get it live. The fifth connector went just inside the tailgate so I can do the same when the winch is in the rear receiver. Yes, this means that I have the potential (pun not intended, but it was recognized) to forget the power cord. But I keep it with the winch controller, and I'm pretty much dead in the water if I forget that anyway. And they are with my tree saver strap, leather gloves and clevises, so I really just need to remember the one container. Glad to know those connectors work. And I like the idea of disconnecting the power to the winch until ready to use it. As for forgetting the jumper, it'll be in the tool box on Big Blue with the control, clevis, hook, and snatch block. However, I don't have a tree saver, so will probably pick one of those up today when I'm in 4WD Parts to get the shackle. Glad you mentioned that. And you are right, Ron, brute force may be needed. Last time I was on that property was when we pulled the '50 Chevy out, and I was using Rusty, the 1981 F150 to tow with. The '50 was sunk to its hubs in the ground, and wasn't coming out. So we chained from the trailer to it and jerked it out by getting a bit of slack - several times. I'd rather not do that with my new truck, but don't think it'll bother Big Blue at all.
  19. They are concerned about law suits if someone gets into an accident and the truck wasn't rated to tow whatever was on the trailer. This is a part of why I bought a trailer of my own - that and having to repair whatever trailer I borrowed. Another part has been getting there and the trailer not being available. Anyway, glad you got it worked out. As we've been discussing about my upcoming tow, taking a Bullnose is an adventure. Who wants to take the easy way?
  20. Yes, it will be at the Skiatook Church of Christ, 1900 Rogers Blvd. As for camping, I'm not familiar with the sites out there, but I will ask around and get back with you. Does that mean you are coming?

  22. Thanks. I centered the winch in the top plate, but if I had to do it over again I'd move it farther back so the line would clear the bar better. The way it is there's a chance that the line will touch the bar as the vehicle gets close to the front. But I'm going to try it this way and find out. Maybe I'll have to re-drill. Tomorrow I'll pick up the connectors and bolts at Grainger, and hopefully the shackle at 4WD Parts. But their site doesn't show the Smittybilt shackle in the above pic. Instead, they are selling a Pro-Link unit that is $142 as opposed to $64 for the Smittybilt.
  23. I've been doing quite a bit of planning, contacting vendors, participants, etc. So I thought I'd better create some documentation for that. Toward that end I've created a new folder called 2018 Garagemahal Ford Truck Show Planning that is pinned at the bottom of the folders. And I moved the Rooms Available thread into that folder, along with threads on Vendors and Participants. Plus I'm working on a thread re Advertising that I hope to post in a bit. And, there will surely be other threads later as I try to work through how best to organize things, who gets the grab bags and prizes, etc. So, please take a look and see what you think. And if you are ready to say you are coming I'll be happy to put your name on the list - realizing that life happens and plans get changed. (Jonathan, David, and Chris: I didn't want to presume, but I'm hoping you are coming.) It is really starting to take on a whole different, much bigger, look than last year, with international visitors, lots more vendor participation, etc. But, I'd like your thoughts on how to make it better.
