  1. Facebook just notified me that 6 years ago I was in Stavanger, and it was much cooler there than here in Oklahoma. So since you are farther north than Stavanger I can easily see how your weather is cool and wet. 👍 But your repairs look good. The JB Weld should hold nicely. And reversing the wires is what I’d have done. Go for a drive!
  2. I certainly hope a ZF transaxle shifts better than a ZF5. All of those I've been around shift like what they are - truck transmissions.
  3. Sorry the jumper didn't do the trick. I'm still convinced it is a grounding problem. Anyway, on a positive note you are now on the map.
  4. Amen, brother! Anyway, a Vega with a 215 Buick sounds like fun! Light & lighter = fast. And a Pantera would be fun as well, but I guess I didn't realize they had a ZF five speed. If that's a ZF5 then that might take some of the fun away. I've not driven a ZF5 that I really liked - including mine.
  5. It sounds like a poor connection that changes with differing conditions. I'd be pulling connections apart to check or clean them. But I don't know how else to get the window down.
  6. Ok, that makes sense. All of it. As for winter, closing the cabin up on Labor Day sounds like a tradition founded on experience. But it also sounds like there's a difference in weather betwixt here and there. Here, in recent years, Thanksgiving has been warm. But I know that hasn't always been the case as I remember all too well riding an enduro on the Saturday after Thanksgiving in the middle of Kansas. It had been 20F for several days and the ponds were frozen hard enough to walk on, but not hard enough to support a guy and an XL350 falling 3' off the bank.
  7. Here is an example (one of your own comments). Curiously, this one doesn't react when I click on it, but I found some others that opened the gif itself when clicked. https://i331881.invisionservice.com/topic/10845-new-member-1986-xlt-4x4-50l/?do=findComment&comment=293038 Good catch, Jeff. Jim's comment also has an example. Here's a link to his original post in Nabble and here's a link to how it came over in Invision. I'll pass that on. Thanks.
  8. Jeff - The conversion test was done on a snapshot of the forum taken in July, probably the 9th as you mentioned. But when the time comes we will lock the Nabble forum so no one can post, take a snapshot, convert that, and then put that up as the new forum. As for the menu above, yes it will be the same. The Invision forum will be what shows up on the main page at garysgaragemahal.com and the menu above will be the same. As for the gifs, do you have a link to one that doesn't work?
  9. I've broken more than one Torx bit on seatbelt bolts. Man, those things can be in there! So I do understand the problem. As for the glass, I like the idea of having it removed professionally. Are you going to store things in the truck? With the doors off? Speaking of that, I guess winter comes early up there. Last, I like that idea of mounting and removing the bed. But what change would you make to have it work better?
  10. I'm guessing that it is a ground problem because in my experience things like "this happens when I do that" are grounding problems. And usually I've found that one device is using the other as a ground until you turn the 2nd one on and then it is no longer a ground. The page below shows the ground for the rear window's motor to be G701 and in the EVTM the page after that shows G701 to be the one on the firewall basically behind the radio. I would check that ground and the one on the other side of the firewall where there is supposed to be a ground wire from the engine to the firewall near the windshield wiper motor.
  11. Jeff - I don't know if it is too early or not. But you are seeing the same thing I saw, which prompted me to say: In your example, while the fonts are different in New Members Start Here, I don't think we should be seeing much of that text at all. If you compare the Nabble home page to the Invision home page you'll see that Nabble just has the name of the folder or thread where Invision has the description of the folder or the first 3 lines of the last post in a thread. I suspect that we can change the amount of description that is shown. But we will need to figure out how we want to do this. I'm going to play with it and see what can be done.
  12. I'm rethinking what I'm seeing and here's what I think now: ATTACHMENTS: Apparently there is a limit on the amount of storage each of us can have for attachments. For instance, I get the message "You have used 2.92 GB of your 488.28 MB attachment limit." So that limit needs to be adjusted as it prevents me from posting, but I can't find where it is in the setup. And, I'd bet that will raise our monthly cost. SUB-FORUMS: Order: The sub-forums did not come over in the order we have them in on Nabble. But that is an easy fix in the adminCP. Verbiage: Invision treats the "description" of a sub-forum differently than Nabble does. On Nabble the description is hidden until you enter/click on the sub-forum. On Invision you see the description of each sub-forum when you enter the forum. So when you go to the Bullnose Forum on Invision it looks ugly 'cause the descriptions take up way too much space. (For instance, Forum/Website Plans & Funding includes the funding thermometers.) I don't know if there is anything that Stuart of Invision can do about that, but it wouldn't be that hard to fix, either before the conversion or after. FORMATTING: In the first post of Big Blue's Transformation on Nabble I have 9 embedded documents that didn't come over to the same post on Invision. In the 2nd post of Big Blue's Transformation on Nabble the bullets didn't come across to the 2nd post in Big Blue's Transformation on Invision, and I didn't use HTML to do that, just the Nabble Formatting tab. And in the 3rd post of Big Blue's Transformation on Nabble the indenting didn't come over to the 3rd post on Big Blue's Transformation on Invision, and it was done via the Formatting button. Then the 4th post of Big Blue's Transformation on Nabble was actually done with HTML. It worked fairly well although an embedded document is completely missing in the 4th post on Invision. LINKS: The links in my signature on Invision take you to posts on the Nabble forum. They should go to the same post on the Invision version Similarly, the link in this post on Invision takes you to the post in the Nabble forum not to the post in the Invision forum.
  13. Don't worry about it, Mat. Turns out there isn't that much to test and I think most of that's been done.
  14. Gary, seems that I'm trapped in the "old" InVision testing forum. Using this url, I can login and my password works but... I do not see the Nabble transferred content. I just see the tests we made last spring. You are using the URL above, right? I think the problem is that Stuart, the guy from Invision, said that "Currently the new content is set so the Administrator group can see it." I'll promote you.... Done. You are now Sir Bro and have access to the admin control panel - but don't go there and there won't be a problem. So refresh and you should see it.
  15. If a truck w/a 460 starts in granny low you'd better take cover - it isn't going to stop. Big Blue started with the trailer connected but the tongue jack on the ground, and that 460 didn't care. Think what it would be like in 4lo and 1st gear. Speaking of that, we were pulling the old sign down at the church building and I put him in 4Lo & 1st gear. Came out on the clutch and went back to see if the guys needed any help. BB just idled on across the parking lot and pulled the sign down w/o missing a beat.
  16. Mat - if you have an id on the invision test forum try to log on with it and your old password here: https://i331881.invisionservice.com/
  17. Right. They have emails disabled at the moment so you won't get anything. But I finally got on with my previous password for the Invision forum. So please give that a try. But, there was some mention that only administrators could see it, so I'm not 100% sure you'll see it even if you get logged on. Be sure to use this URL: https://i331881.invisionservice.com/
  18. Stuart @ Invision put the migrated Nabble forum up for us to test today. It is at this URL. Here are some things I've noticed so far: It takes 1 to 2 seconds to load a WHYDTYTT page on Invision and 16+ seconds on Nabble So far the pictures and videos on Nabble appear to have come across correctly ORDER: The order of sub-forums is not the same as on the Nabble forum. And not all of the sub-forms came across the same way. Nabble starts Forum/Website Plans & Funding, then New Members Start Here, then Resources & How-To's. But Invision is Garage/Shop & Tools, then Projects, then Resources & How-To's. So it skipped the first two and re-ordered the others. New Member Start Here doesn't appear to have been treated as a sub-forum. It has the guidelines & suggestions included with it. In Projects Jeff's Big Brother's Transformation is a sub-forum with threads in it. And that is actually correct. In the first post of Big Blue's Transformation I have 9 embedded documents that didn't come over In the 2nd post of Big Blue's Transformation the bullets didn't come across, and I didn't use HTML to do that, just the Nabble Formatting tab And in the 3rd post of Big Blue's Transformation the indenting didn't come over, and it was done via the Formatting button. Then the 4th post of Big Blue's Transformation was actually done with HTML. It worked fairly well although an embedded document is completely missing. The links in my signature take you to posts on the Nabble forum. Shouldn't they go to the same post on the Invision version? When I edit a post that came over from Nabble I get this message: You have used all of the attachment space you are allowed. Manage Attachments to free up space. I can't reply to any post in the migrated forum. If I go to the Test Invision Forum in the menu I'm offered the option to reply. But not in the migrated forum. I think that's enough for tonight.
  19. Thanks, Jim. I'll get some of it to use to stick the ends of some of my rubber trim back in place. It'll look better and won't be as likely to get snagged and peeled off some day.
  20. What I have to remember is that we aren't testing the capabilities of InVision's forum. We've already done that. Instead we are checking to see that our existing Nabble forum gets ported correctly and is integrated neatly into the Invision forum. So I am going to post most of this post in a new thread called Testing Of InVision Import Of Nabble Forum, which will be in the New Forum Platform Discussions folder. And that thread is where I'd like to capture our test results. As of this morning we have the first test of our migrated forum. Unfortunately y'all can't see it as only admins can and only Chris/ckuske and I are admins. But I've asked the folks at Invision how I can give you access. As for my first blush, not everything is right as some folders on Nabble came across as folders on Invision and some didn't. So we have a few things to sort out. But, there is some good news. As best I can measure it takes 1 to 2 seconds to move to a new page on WHYDTYTT where it takes 16 - 17 seconds on Nabble. In fact, it is so fast on Invision that it is really hard to measure.
  21. I'm a little confused on what you are asking here. Are you asking about glue they used? Looking at your post on that thread, it looks like you repaired your upper body molding. This image is of the lower molding. Yes, mine is upper and yours is lower. But we might be able to use the same glue. I used that 3M Hi-Strength 90, which is a spray contact cement. It is said to be permanent and it has worked for me on other things before. But Jim said there's a 3M emblem/plastic adhesive that would also work. So if your plastic trim touches the aluminum strip in the center, or if it gets really close where the glue could bridge the gap, then the stuff Jim suggested might be the stuff to use.
