  1. You weren't kidding about the oil on the engine! As for the oil around the dizzy, my guess is that the o-ring on the dizzy is bad. Remind me what year the van is? I'm wondering what documentation I have that might help.
  2. Dave - I don't think I can answer the question regarding the yokes. But maybe you can. Go to Documents/Driveline/Driveshafts and then go to the Application Chart tab. Scroll down to find your two applications and note the # in the Yoke column. Are they the same? But the speedo gear should work fine.
  3. Bill - I'm confused. Your link takes me to the think on the left, and Steve's takes me to the one on the right. What am I missing?
  4. Thanks. Can't beat that price. Let us know if the flashing lights thing works.
  5. Glad it worked! What's the name of the system? Or a link to it on Amazon? As for hazards behind the kick panel, I think you are looking for Light Green and Light Green/White.
  6. Bill - Are you saying that Ford's remote keyless entry system is easy to adapt to these trucks?
  7. Didn't get the conformal coating. They didn't have that as an option. So I'm going to see what I can figure out in the way of filters on the intakes. The front pops off and I think I can put filter paper on it right in front of the intake fan. And there's a vent on top that I can put a filter on. Won't look pretty, but should be effective.
  8. Hope the weather holds, Jim! You are going to have a lot of fun! But don't know anything about Treadwright.
  9. Ron - Could you contact him and give him a link to this thread and ask him to comment? For instance, why does it appear that he's using the DC catalog? Is he expanding into Bullnose? Etc?
  10. I think you are doing a lot better than "pretty good". And I'm going to have to hustle or you'll beat me.
  11. Last night at church Steve/FoxFord83 asked me for help on his installation of a remote locking system. So this is going to be my take on how to do that. And it may be lengthy...... First, he has a system with these instructions: But if you look in the upper left their diagrams of relays are ..... awful. (For anyone that doesn't understand relays you might want to read 12v Planet Relay Guide:) Instead of their diagram here's an industry standard diagram of a Bosch relay. In the quiescent state Pin 30 is connected to Pin 87a. But if you put 12v across 85 & 86 the arm will move from Pin 87a and connect to Pin 87. So you can kinda see how their relay works by having the White wire connected to the Orange wire via the normally-closed contacts, and then when the relay is activated the White wire connects to the Yellow wire via the normally-open contacts. Now let's talk about the Ford door lock wiring. Here it is in its virgin state, although this is from the 1985 EVTM and some of the wires have dots rather than stripes. But in 1986 Ford eliminated the dots and went to just stripes. And here's what the EVTM says about how they work: One of the key things to grasp is that when "at rest" the switches are grounded. Another is that if you look closely at the switches you can see that the Pk/LG wire is the lock wire, and the Pk/Bk wire is the unlock wire. In other words, if you hit the Pk/LG wire with 12v it'll lock, and if you hit the Pk/Bk wire with 12v it'll unlock. So how do we incorporate Steve's module into that wiring to make a remote work? As below. In it the White wire is connected to the Orange wire via that normally-closed contact of the Closing relay. That way the switches still work. But if you push the remote's Close button the White wire will be connected to the Yellow wire via the normally-open contact of the opening relay which will give the lock motors a shot of 12v and they'll lock. Ditto for the Opening relay.
  12. Not as practical as it could be. But it is going to work. I now have most of the files copied over and several of the apps. Still need Photoshop and TurboCAD. But I'm getting there.
  13. Yikes! That's a LOT to look at! I've gotten through several pages and will get through the rest. Thanks!
  14. Yes, most aftermarket bumpers are tin foil. Not only do they bend in a minor accident, they'll inflict damage on the fenders.
  15. The front panel doesn't swing open. It pops off and there are no bays behind it. The only bays are on the side where the plexiglass cover is. But, I ordered a USB DVD drive for $20, and I bought a USB card reader while I was out today. So I'll have both of those things covered very easily. As for computer advice, I wanted to make this easy. So I did no research to speak of. Basically I went into a place that builds computers and told the guy what I do with the computer and he configured it. I knew it didn't have a card reader but also knew they are cheap. Didn't know 'bout the DVD drive, but that's fixed as well.
  16. I can test fit mine and see if the door closes. Perfect! Thanks!
  17. Yes, I saw a low profile charger today, and that might be a good solution in a 12v port - if it'll fit. Yes, Jim, I know you suggested that some time ago. But then I'd not seen anything nearly as small as this one, and what I was seeing probably wouldn't fit under the door to the ash tray. This one probably will.
  18. Good idea, Bill! Here are some on Amazon for about $20. Cool!
  19. Congrat's!!! But, that seems a bit high. You're going to lift it from there?
  20. Didn't do much for the truck. Had an appointment in Owasso so went to Fastenal to get the 7/16-20 lock nuts for the spindles. But Fastenal closed in Owasso and neither Lowes nor Home Depot had them. So I ordered 50 from Amazon for $11, which is less than 10 would have been from anyone else. They'll be here Friday. Then I went to Wholesale Computing Supply and bought a "new" computer that they put together from my spec's. Not a fast one as it has an i5-4430 processor and only 8 gig of memory. But something tells me that some of the 32 gig on the old computer may find a new home. Oh, and there's a 1 TB solid state drive and a graphics card that will drive up to 5 monitors. But, there's no CD/DVD drive, so I may have to keep an OLD computer around. Or, there's room in there but the side cover looks like it'll hit. Maybe I just pull the side cover when I need the drive. Gonna need to fashion some filters for the air intake, but I had them install an extra fan so there's plenty of air flow. Here's a couple of views:
  21. The iPad is no longer in use. And the Microsoft tablet doesn't charge from USB, neither A nor C. It has its own proprietary connector and charger. But, I do tether it from time to time to the iPhone. Works well.
  22. Rob - You are now on the map. As for SE PA, we lived in Kennett Square. Actually, not in but that's where the kids went to school. I worked for a rather large company that started making gunpowder, then dynamite, then a few chemicals - like Teflon. But that was when I was in my 50's and 60's, and I didn't frequent any speed shops.
