  1. Cory, email me your dates, who knows, we could "meat" at Schwartz (ok, I admit, bad dad's joke). Hey, for us frenchies guys, meet or meat sounds the same, no? Montreal isn't especially the next door, but I use to go "in town" couple of days per year. Only highways between here (Mont-Tremblant) and the Big City. 90 minutes of easy road (without snow storm). I've been to North Coast some times (Matane-Baie Comeau-Godbout ferry, Sept-Iles, Manic, Mingan, Havre Saint-Pierre, Natashquan, but never as North as you (Fairmont, Labrador City). The "northest" I went was on the west side of Quebec, Radisson and LG-3 reservoir (53°38'N, Baie James). Wild and empty country... but so much nice fishing souvenirs! Maybe looking forward to meet together!
  2. Nice idea! I am Jean-François. For my English speaking friends, Jeff is OK. I'll hit 59 in couple of weeks. Time goes too fast! I live in Quebec. Love this country and enjoy the nature, the snow, the lakes, boating, fishing, hunting, hiking and canoe downriver family trips. I'm architect. After some years working for others, I decided to start my own business. Going from my basement, to a rental office, to my own building (built with some other partners). I'm now the senior of my 17 people office, including my 3 younger architects partners, all nice women. I call them my Angels (guess who's Charlie?). Also gentleman farmer in my spare times. 27 years ago, we bought an old farm house with a barn, that we renovated, in which we raised our family. Own 3 horses and offer some horse boarding too. I have 3 «Ferrari»: A daughter and two sons, who are aged 30, 26 and 21. All professionals, school almost ruined us but we are so proud of them! Here we say "le coffre-fort ne suit pas le corbillard" (the safety won't follow the hearse). About mechanic, I learned by myself the little knowledge that I have. Nobody in my family has a molecular interest to understand how things work. My own dad thinks that the only thing cars need is gasoline. When I was young, he got a "mysterious" engine light in the dash. Guys at the garage checked the oil level... Seemed correct but very dark. Pulled out the pan plug and got just few drops. Unbolted the pan, and... SPLASH, a massive black jelly dropped on the floor! My dad was surprised to learn that oil has to be changed... My family didn't have money, all the cars I was able to buy were old and needed lot of repairs. I bought books and learned (that was before internet and forum like this one). I drove '72 Beetle, '76 and '85 Renault 5. I got Big Brother from my wife's father (who is as interested by mechanic as my own dad). He got it from an outfitter on Anticosti island. When I got Big Bro (for symbolic 1$), he was in bad shape. I decided to rejuvenate him in 2019, very proud about the result (although it cost me couple of bucks). Not sure why, but I love this truck. Voilà!
  3. Progressing! Hoping the drive test will be comfortable! Very strange. Designers seem to have lot of fun in complicating things.
  4. Clean truck! But a little bit too black (interior included) for my taste, feel it like the Bat-Bull.
  5. Rotate the pict in a different software before inserting it in the thread. If the picture seems to have the right orientation but looks wrong in the forum, rotate it anyway and save it, than re-rotate it in the correct orientation and re-save it. For my own experience, you'll have to re-insert it again in the tread. Should now appear the good way in the thread.
  6. Hi, These colours come from the 1984 sale brochure. Based on that, I suppose the general look of the truck should be similar than this picture. Be aware that "Polar White" isn't exactly «white». It's a little bit "creamy". Do you plan to use the '86 or '84 paint pattern, for you tribute? They are different. For '86, the top colour is aligned with the bottom of the side marker light.
  7. After the question I asked in this post, this make sense. The Bronco's rear window acts as the tailgate lock. So, in order to access the interior bed from the exterior, you have to lower it, no? Imagine a manual tailgate window... You should need to crawl inside the truck to manually lower the window, then get out to open the tailgate and put your grocery in the back.
  8. Wow! Didn't see your thread in September! Nice project! But, OMG!! There is almost nothing under this huge and big hood !
  9. Yep, saw it and found it very interesting! But looking at the price (2K$ US, something around 2700$ CAD), I told to myself that I could wait a bit, for the moment Quebec is cool enough in summer time. With climate changes, we never know... I'll write down this product in my wishlist. Quite expansive for just couple of hot days per year here.
  10. Gary, sorry to hear that. My Mom use to say «things always happen for a reason».
  11. Thanks for the picts Pétur! Beautiful country, and nice looking truck!
  12. Gary, my own father is absolutely not mechanic guy. I am pretty sure that, if he was selling his vehicle, the idea would not occur to him that there is something under the hood... Maybe the seller is just like my dad.
  13. Pétur, I did some searching (Bronco Graveyard, LMC, CJPonyparts), they don't sell complete kits like the one you found. The only complete kits I found are on eBay. Even the brand (PYCL) doesn't offer this kit on their site (well I didn't find it). I suggest you to contact directly National Part Depot (or PY) and see if they accept to ship you. I live in Canada and sometimes was able to obtain a "special shipping service" from sellers who first declare on their site that they don't ship here. Good luck!
  14. Hi Pétur! Couple of pictures of your neighborhood/region would be nice! And of your truck too!
  15. Of course! I should have known! Oooops! Couple of letters jumped out while typing! I meant hatchet. Sorry!
  16. Probably already in your luggage, but... -Spare spark plugs -Manual winch -Strong cable, straps -12V air pump -Tubeless tire repair kit -Shovel -Ace -Bow saw (or chain saw + mixed fuel) -SpotX (or satellite phone) if no phone zone Plus, a lot of smiles and fun!
  17. Hi Gentlemen! I noticed a very slight oil leak on the driver's side of the oil pan. Seems to come from a specific bolt. Really not willing to put a new pan gasket... not an easy job. What are your suggestions? - Try to tighten the suspected bolt? - Try an oil additive pan leak seal? If so, any suggestion for such product? Thanks for your experience/advice!
  18. I bought couple of times from this seller, miscellaneous items for Big Bro. Don't know if the seller is a "she", but was always satisfied about the products. He/she doesn't sell broken or worn items. Always clean and in very good shape. As his/her nails.
  19. Found in YouTube, a 10th-Generation pickup. I suppose my 84 shifter is similar? Before hammering it, I'll probably heat the shifter a bit...
  20. Hi gentelmen! Planning to change the tranny shifter rubber boot. I am wondering how to pull off the knob... I assumed it was screwed on top of the shifter stick, but probably not. Is the shifter end made like this? This would mean that the knob has to be pulled up. Any advice about the good method to use, to not break anything? Heating it? Thanks!
