  1. Gary, Don't worry about it for now. I'll wait until I get everything assembled and installed and see how it goes.
  2. Gary, I bought most of the air cleaner/intake assembly in two sections. One half coming from Texas, and the other half Connecticut. I'm pretty sure everything is there, but the one piece I am still for sure missing is the elbow in the picture below as well as whatever type of clip or grommet holds it in place. It does not appear to be a separate part from Ford, it is part of that intake duct piece. If I can't find it or another duct, I'll just make something out of a PVC elbow or something.
  3. I finally got around to pulling the engine cover off this E350/460 tonight to have a look around, and I guess I have a minor case of the previous owner blues...lol, and man, getting that doghouse in and out of there around the big captains chairs is no joke. Anyway...first up was the PCV valve that had obviously been out of place for some time. Also noticeable in that picture is that the last exhaust manifold bolt is missing. Looking in the mirror below you can see it is broken off about an 1/8" inside the head. I'm not too concerned about that broken bolt at the moment. The exhaust is currently not leaking...or least it isn't making that ticking sound that leaky exhaust manifolds/gaskets usually make. The engine was sounding pretty good actually, what little bit I have heard of it. Question for you 460 experts though...what is this sensor in the very back of the block, just in front of the trans bellhousing? I went looking for the coolant sensor for the gauge in the dash, and it appears to be a typical 1-wire sensor right behind the thermostat, next to the distributor, so I'm going to test that this weekend. The gauge works, but barely. I am assuming bad sensor, but I'll short it to ground, and also check actual temp of the coolant with an IR gun. Found this bracket loose on the driver's side. It is supposed to be mounted on a manifold stud (I assume). It is the mounting bracket for the EGR solenoid valve, and others. I am assuming that the exhaust manifolds have been changed...they are really way too clean to be 27 years old, and I've found some missing nuts, etc, like somebody has been in there. I also found a loose open ended vacuum hose, so there was a good 3/16" vacuum leak...not sure how much difference it would make, because like I said the thing seemed to be running OK. I also found that there is a hose/connected to the oil filler pipe, and I don't know where it is supposed to go when everything is connected as it was at the factory.
  4. Oh my that color is too much...lol. No interior pics, no engine bay pics, and no pics of inside the bed. I find some of these custom colors really suck the resale value out of the vehicle.
  5. Gary, we might have to ship you by sea freight to the UK... I guess we could fix up a 20 or 40 foot container for you...lol.
  6. Truth! I read the book years ago and found it to be an interesting story. https://www.amazon.ca/Broad-Daylight-Harry-N-MacLean/dp/1482639874
  7. That's what is terrifying people at my hospital, since the large majority of our patients are above age 65, and there are quite a few senior care facilities (10+) in the immediate area. The possibility of a large scale spread is very real in my area, and as previously mentioned, there are plenty of elders who have a death wish and are not taking this seriously. Is anyone on here subscribed to Sundance Now? I want to watch this series called No One Saw a Thing, but it is only available on this Sundance Now. I read a book about this story years ago and found it very interesting. https://www.sundancenow.com/series/watch/no-one-saw-a-thing/12b6da84563a7f13?season=1 I'm getting a bit tired of all these subscription based services, so I'm hesitant to even click on the free trial as they'll surely be needing credit card info.
  8. If I bought that truck at $49,500 USD, at the current exchange rate it would cost me $70,000 CDN, and then I'd have to pay $10,500 tax on top of that. With the extra import fees and a plate, I'd be looking at $81,000 lol. It is way WAY out of my price range. I really can't see anybody paying 50 grand for that thing, for any reason.
  9. Quite a good deal indeed. Anybody with a 3-on-the-tree Bullnose would be crazy not to buy that part for $10 bucks. The bushings and sleeves that go along with it are equally hard to find, but were used in some other columns, so not quite as bad.
  10. 10 years, that's cool. That must be quite a feeling. Congrats.
  11. Yes, the bracket just clips on to the tube, so I guess technically it is a separate part. I have the same one in my 1984 302.
  12. Ahh, OK...I was thinking of the 302EFI that I had briefly...it had an AOD with the cable. Thanks for clearing that up Rick. Clearly I know nothing about the auto transmissions in these trucks. I'll stay out of that part of the discussion.
  13. Ok, I'm not an expert with automatic transmissions in these trucks, but lets confirm what you've got here. The cable with the ball chain on the end should be for the cruise control. The kickdown rod for the transmission is in your picture posted above. It is a hard metal rod that goes from the throttle on the side of the carb back towards the firewall, and then down to the transmission. Which brings up another question...I thought the AOD trans was cable controlled, and your transmission definitely has a kickdown rod...so are you sure this truck has an AOD trans? I had it in my head that the AOD didn't show up until 1985, but I could be wrong on that. Like I said, I'm no expert when it comes to auto transmissions. Can you post a picture of the certification label that is inside the driver's door jamb, on the cab next to the striker post where the driver's door latches? Or tell us what letters are shown under the "Trans" and "Axle" sections...
  14. Well then, that sounds like a factory DSII truck, unless somebody converted it previously. Do you have any history on the truck? Is the whole engine blue or just the valve covers? They would have been grey originally, so somebody painted them or replaced them. I see a couple vacuum port caps, so somebody did that too. The exhaust crossover valve in the intake is capped off as well I see...but by this time, lots and lots of owners have ripped out a lot of vacuum lines. My '84 F150 has the exact same engine, and I had mine all done over. I went with an Edelbrock Performer 289 intake manifold, and a Holley 4160 4bbl carb. That's a good start at least. In stock trim your engine has 8.3:1 compression and I believe 135HP and 250 ft/lbs Torque.
  15. Yes I'm glad too, and I'm glad that after all the testing it appears that it ended with them. These folks are fairly close (geographically) to my parents, and they are somewhat close through friendships, so I'm glad it stopped where it did, at least for now. I'd like to hear more details on how the virus is affecting different people, and what groups have been affected the most. Why are some people only getting minor flu symptoms, and some are dying...and some no symptoms at all? Of the people that have died, did any of them have pre-existing health issues? Or have there been cases of strong and healthy young people dying as well? The only thing the media and government are giving out up here are numbers of people testing positive for the virus, and the number of people actually in the hospital. Are you guys getting any stats in the US other than the number of people testing positive for the virus, and the number of deaths?
  16. I talked to my friend this morning. His sister and her husband who both had Covid-19 have completed their quarantine and have both returned to work. Everyone that was around them has been tested and came back clear, so it looks like it ended with them in this case. We are up to about 300 cases here now, but still only 4 people in hospital(s). They are starting to get more serious about the lockdown here...more restrictions on the way. I wish there was better data about what is going on, who is affected, etc.
  17. Thanks for sharing Reamer, I pounded the dents out of my factory bumper and soaked the backside of it in Ospho to try and squeeze as many more years as possible out of it, but it is good to know where to get the correct one when/if I need it. Thanks!
  18. I agree! You guys are making me and my truck blush...lol.
  19. Hi Chris, my truck is also a 1984 F150 with original 302, but my truck was a factory DSII truck. I don't think we got the feedback systems up here in Canada...we went straight from DSII to EFI. If there were feedback systems up here, I've never seen one. Good luck with the build/rehab of the truck. The lowly 302 gets a bit of a bad rap as a truck engine, but they are still a great little engine with loads and loads of aftermarket support.
  20. Mrs. Rembrant gave me a break from RV renos today to take the old Bull out for a spin. It wasn't very warm out, but it was sunny and clear and the roads were nice and dry;). While the M5OD and 3.08 gears wouldn't be the best for towing, they are sure are nice on the highway. The engine just purrs at 1900 RPM @ 65mph. For a light little truck, I'm quite happy with this combo. There's a little dead end road on the way home where I stop once in a while to give her a good 1/8 mile pull just to make sure everything is working properly;). We have been busy with RV renos this past couple weeks. Today was stick-on tiles on the kitchen wall, and new faucets, and the sink...UGH...it had been painted with black appliance paint (I think) and it took me 3 days to strip it all back down to bare stainless steel. Then it took me another couple days to gather up the fittings to convert the RV's 3/8 Poly-B tubing over to 1/2" PEX...what a pita. I have also sourced a replacement air intake for the 460 EFI, and will be checking out a few small issues with her in the coming weeks. It is showing a code for the TPS and another for the EVAP system, so I want to get everything back to a stock (and code free) base line, so I can make my very best attempt at 8+ MPG...lol.
