  1. Ya, the Brits use the metric system for measuring everything except the distance on the roads...lol. That is an odd one. Having grown up with the Metric system I do find it super easy to work with since everything is in multiples of 10. I still have to take time to convert ounces and things like that. Distance and weight I am fine with converting. I do very much prefer Celsius over Fahrenheit...water freezes at 0 and boils at 100 is just too simple for me;).
  2. Stopped by the dealer on the way to work this morning to pick up a pair of oil filters...one for the '84 302 and another for the '93 460. Young fella at the counter happen to mention that they had Ford Racing filters in-stock if I was interested. Any benefit to running one of these on my lowly 302? I wouldn't bother with the RV. Just curious if they're worth the 2X price. Obviously I'm not racing my 302...lol.
  3. It's been a couple years since I was there, but I'm pretty sure the only original parts he does not have are the original wheels. The truck has those west coast style mirrors or whatever they're called...the ones that mount above and below the window? He has them, they are just not installed currently.
  4. They should stick down approximately this far in the picture below. Is that any help?
  5. Hi Chris, I have BBK shorty headers installed on my 1984 302. They fit and work great, although I had to buy different gaskets and bolts as the ones that came with them were no good. Header fitment is a bit of an issue with these trucks, especially longtubes....and I'd go even further to say that the issue is compounded with the 302 as it was used in many MANY other applications, including Mustangs which probably have/had 20+ different aftermarket header options. Mustang headers fit the engine just fine, but they point directly at the firewall...some guys make them fit though, so I don't know. Which headers did you buy? The proper truck headers (long tube) should drop down below the transmission linkages. If by chance you ended up with the Mustang GT style headers, they will point directly at the firewall and transmission shift linkages, etc.
  6. 2wd?...maybe I posted the incorrect link? It will never sell for that kind of money for sure.
  7. Big money F250 here, but she's pretty clean looking. It's listed in New Canaan, CT Jim if you're reading. That's gotta be pretty close to you, no? https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/408558993239451/?surface=product_details
  8. Thought I'd share this For Sale ad for the uniqueness of it being an almost 50 year old one owner truck. I've met this guy and have been in his garage. He makes you take your shoes off, so it's sock feet or nothing. https://www.kijiji.ca/v-cars-trucks/city-of-halifax/73-f100/1444004896?fbclid=IwAR1XUHEeVCrY1d7ih9IjQKVj8B4Y2zWppJqhiaxah74f02mvkVn_AKyaoR8 He worked in the body shop of one of the local Ford dealers for 40 years, and bought this truck brand new in 1973. It's been a few years since I talked to him, but if I recall correctly he only drove the truck for the first 3-4 years he owned it, and then it has been in storage ever since. He used to take it to shows, but it hasn't even been out of his garage now in a decade. He has all of the original paperwork and bill of sale, etc. 16,000 original miles 360 with 3 on the tree. Asking $25,000 CDN (approx $18,000 USD). Some pictures I took of the truck when I visited him to buy some parts a couple years ago.
  9. It's a kit car I guess Gary, I'm not sure. The car is a bit rough (on purpose) and has what looks like an EFI 5.0L H.O. under the hood. It has the stock style EFI intake. It has an antique plate though, so it's at least 25 years old, if not 30. I'm not sure how you even get kit cars on the road here...it always used to be a bit of a foggy grey area. A lot of them, including things like the VW Manx buggies, were registered as their donor vehicles...which could be very tricky if you ever go into an accident with one.
  10. A few old guys finally showed up for Thursday night car night (all social distancing, of course). How about this groovy Econoline dually next to me.
  11. I don't know yet, but David mentioned above he had his done for $75. I'd get the whole thing done if it was only $200, but I've heard of others around here paying a lot more than that.
  12. Big old single wheel 350 on BAT on a No Reserve auction. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1984-ford-f350-quad-cab/ I was looking at the interior and thinking how nice it looked and how clean it was, and noticed the funky steering wheel pad...weren't you guys talking about these a few days ago? And I was looking at the shiny headlight and wiper knobs and saying to myself they don't belong there....but they DO belong there, it's the bezels that are not correct...lol. And don't even get me started on those hubcaps! I think a nice set of wheels and tires would do a lot for the curb appeal of this truck.
  13. These guys are posting a lot of rust free Bullnoses. Seems like a new one every couple weeks. This one has already cracked $12k... https://www.ebay.com/itm/193479306925
  14. I like that dipstick! Where is that from Gary?
  15. Gary, I spoke to Robin and ordered up a quart of Dark Harbor Blue. She was SUPER nice and helpful. I bought their cleaner/prep product and a Preval kit with an extra power head. I was hoping to not have to remove my door panels again lol, but seeing the pictures/colors in this thread I almost had to...lol. It'll be a week or more before it gets here (coming by UPS ground) but I'm super excited to try it out. Thanks to 66gtk for starting this thread and sharing the pictures of his work. Excellent stuff. Like I need any help spending my money...
  16. Since I'm getting my interior all fixed up and painted I decided I better look into getting my seat fixed as well. For a 36 year old seat it is in really nice condition except for a few small cracks on the driver's side. You can tell that this piece of vinyl has lost a lot of it's flexibility over the years and is kind of stiff. I was investigating vinyl repair kits and I just didn't have the confidence that I could do it and make it presentable. At least the cracks look natural...lol. Thanks to David's reply here, I contacted a local shop and they said they could replace that one panel and come pretty close to matching the color too. The guy said if absolutely necessary they could dye the new piece to match better, but I'll see how it looks first. He seemed confident that he could find a match that most people wouldn't even notice unless you pointed it out to them. Taking the truck to show him in the next few days hopefully. See if I can get some samples.
  17. Oh...I'm in Canada, so my speedometer is in Kilometers. That's 90 km/h, or about 55MPH? With the 5spd and 3.08 rear diff, my truck is geared pretty tall. On the highway at 70MPH, I'm still only running at 2000 RPM.
  18. Haha, we don't call it VAT, but it varies here as well by province. In NS, it's 15% on everything. This is why I always joke that our healthcare is not free at all...we pay for it, and pay dearly. It doesn't seem like much on little day to day items, but for people buying things like high-end pickups for $60k, they then have to pay $10,000 tax on it. A bit more shock and awe when you see it in the bigger numbers. Of course we're used to it, but it's not a small amount.
  19. Funny you mention that, it has become a bit of a necessity here as well. Our government changed the tax rules on this sometime in the past couple years. It's not a big deal, but it is annoying on principle if nothing else. If you go in to the parts store and buy something, you pay tax on the full purchase price. When you come back the next day with your core, they will refund the value of the core, but not the tax on that value. The only way to save having to pay that tax is to bring the core in with you when you buy the new item...if it is possible at all. I have a PMGR starter here for my truck that I will take in with me when the time comes that I need a new starter. I was going to rebuild this one, but screw it, I'll just buy a reman. That is, when my original 36 year old starter ever bites the dust...lol.
  20. Thanks David! I'm pretty happy with the old truck these days. It gets lots of waves, thumbs up, and "hey buddy, what year is that?" when I'm out and about with it. It's really starting to feel finished, but I'm not quite there yet. I still have a list of things that need to be done to it. Part of it is procrastination, but I think it's also a means of having some tasks in the bank as it were for the rainy days. I'm on a bit of a mission currently to get the interior finished up. It's actually not bad where it is now, but seeing how well that *correct Dark Harbor Blue interior paint matches on 66gtk's truck has given me a second wind of enthusiasm to get back at it. Making some calls about that today. Stay tuned. Anyway, things are winding down with the old truck, and that's cool. Too bad all of the car nights and car shows have been cancelled for this season. I'm still having some issues with some vibration on the road, and it feels like flat spots on the tires, but still working on diagnosing it. Truck is going back in for an alignment next week and another deep dive on the tire balancer. Stay tuned for the results of that one. I am just about ready to buy new tires for it.
  21. Even for a reman, that's a good deal on a starter isn't it?
  22. If you select the Cutpile option, it sure does give you more options for blue...might help to compare if they're all on the same page. I guess it doesn't matter because if you're going with the Essex, your options are not nearly as wide...
  23. Out of curiosity, what did you do to prepare the dash pad for painting? The quart of paint they sent you can be dumped directly into the preval jar and off you go? No mixing or anything? I actually have a paint gun, so I guess I could use it also?
