  1. You got it. That's really just a style preference though but if it's easier... Good deal on being able to cut the hole but still have the integrity of the bracket
  2. I think I'd go with option 1.Cut the center part out of the bracket. Make the speaker holes in the L shaped bracket, looking just like the dash (grid included)Make the overall size of the speaker design the size needed so that four button head bolts visually fit into the pattern and bolt the feet in. Not having had the L bracket in hand, this is assuming it is ridgid enough.
  3. Ugh, I can't imagine that kind of cold or maybe don't want to. Jim - nothing wrong with block heaters (unless using them with a prone-to-crack block I guess ). They just don't work the same and thus have a different level of effectiveness when compared to the circulating type. Here in the midwest where the cold is nothing compared to David's experience, we use the factory block heaters in our diesel tractors/farm trucks and they work fine for starting assistance.
  4. I haven't heard of that with the 6.9's but I don't follow diesels much. Just googled it and found a good (last) post in this thread by a 'familiar face': https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1473507-6-9-block-casting-number.html Sounds like there may be a few visual indicators you can look for. I agree with Steve in that the circulating heaters are nice. We have a couple of those on our gas tractors.
  5. I am sold! Price may be up there but it is a truck I wouldn't mind seeing in person. I kind of like it. You can definitely tell it's got the owners personal touch built into it. Not a bad thing but also not everyone's style. But if truly a one owner for that many years, it's to be expected. The door panels are an interesting contrast/accent. Headliner doesn't really fit with the rest of the choices made though. The GVOD would be a blessing with those gears.
  6. Thanks guys. Since the rust is usually before the cab corner on supercabs I was trying to attribute it to something other than what causes reg cab cab corners to rust out. I'll make a note to look inside the next supercab I see that has the rust showing.
  7. Hey Kevin - when you get a chance, could you check out this thread? http://forum.garysgaragemahal.com/Supercab-Rust-td79038.html#a79066
  8. So you think it's rotting from inside the cab out? Hope he doesn't mind me pointing it out but Kevin's (Teach) truck shows some of this (northern truck). Maybe he can check the channel on the inside and see what it looks like.
  9. My fault. The question popped into mind as I was laying in bed so posted without much thought. Added some clarification in the first post but I really need to add a photo.
  10. I'm not familiar with Supercabs, but are you referring to the back wall, just above the floor, or "shelf" where the heads of the rear cab mount bolts are? Is the area the same as a regular cab? Pictures would definitely help this thread out - let me see if I can find some. I am referring to the sides behind the door but not quite to the cab corner. Around here, a lot of them have a long strip between the cab corner and the door that has rusted open. Never having looked at one I am not sure if the channel inside (where floor meets side wall) is rusted or not.
  11. What causes the supercabs to rust along the bottom of the back portion below the rear (side) windows? Between the B pillar and the cab corner. Is it the window? That was always my assumption but seeing how the gaskets are on the windows, that doesn't seem likely. It also seems to occur an inch or so up. For anyone that had done the repair, did anything stand out when you were in there? Half tempted to take a sawzall to one in the jy and inspect it. This is a place I am planning to spray the wax coating but got to wondering why it happens. Edit: added some clarification
  12. Very clean! No tach (thanks Dane - now I can't help but look ). Not discounting how nice it is, but I am with you Cory - surprised this one is bringing 15k already. Definitely rolled off the line expecting life as a work truck. Looking forward to seeing how high it goes.
  13. What would make you happy? https://www.ebay.com/itm/NOS-OEM-Ford-1983-1986-Mustang-Capri-Marchal-Fog-Lights-Lamps-Kit-1984-1985-GT/124419965171?hash=item1cf80200f3:g:z8IAAOSw6JpfdjMJ Those would make me happy no doubt. Wife/checkbook not so much. Guess I'll need to stop buying diagnostics tools I don't need and save up
  14. That would be nice! Have you done anything with the period correct after market grill? Not yet but that is still one of the buys I am most excited about. I have been meaning to dry fit it but in order to get the lights in there I need to make a custom bracket (to clear the 460 oil cooler) and then find some period correct lights (hint hint). May be a good next spring project.
  15. You just wait David - someday I may move, lose my shop building, and you'll end up with a pallet of your good finds on your doorstep
  16. That is a good listing. Not a huge difference in color between what is hidden vs exposed
  17. Yeah....why on earth I thought I wanted this and accepted the offer the seller sent out is beyond me Anyways, arrived today and it is kind of neat. Will have to test it out sometime.
  18. You're correct - as most are - it's definitely not without it's issues. I've thought about using mine as a template and making another but the toolboxes aren't really too high on my list. Aux battery trumps it for me
  19. Nice. Don't see many of them come up for sale (for any condition/price).
  20. Since nabble does some interesting url handling, this is the what I've had to do also for "future reference" links. Note that in Chrome at least you can click on the More... button when adding a bookmark via the Star icon and paste in the permalink:
  21. That's incredible Cory. Night and day difference. I call dibs if you ever want to find out
  22. Great news on the LRC. Takes care of that problem Looking forward to seeing them in person sometime but that paint really covers well and in the photos at least, look like they came that color. Well done.
