  1. That's the factory padded wheel that I am always amazed at how well all those I see have held up over the years. I see a few options online for sew on wraps but no personal experience. Could also try a local upholstery shop.
  2. Where was it located? Looks similar to a manual heater hose shutoff valve that was added by a PO to my 80.
  3. Gotcha. So quite a bit newer. Just went outside and looked at a 2015 Supercab. Don't think I've ever lifted the center console up or even knew it had a shoulder belt. Can't recall reading about anyone installing one of those in our trucks. I can get measurements from mine if needed.
  4. Assuming bench to bench you've got a few years you can pull from (until cab change). Have a 94 bench in my 80. Is there a specific year you are looking at? If bolting the belt to the cab, what is gained by swapping benches? Others may have ideas but adding seatbelts in new locations is territory I shy away from. IF I was looking into adding a seat belt where one wasn't designed for and tested, I would talk to some local roll cage builders.
  5. Abe Lincoln's Axe Neat idea on keeping a bolt and the valve cover is a good place for it.
  6. Not too far away at all! Haul sheep to the auction out there regularly.
  7. Good deal. May have already been discussed but I'd grab some dielectric grease to have on-hand for anytime you separate and reconnect a connector.
  8. May be too far in. You can remove it, slide the nut down (will likely be tough), reinstall and then shut the door. The door closing will set it to the correct depth in the nut.
  9. Rustproofing sprays are really common here, and I know they're at least somewhat common in the northern states...at least the ones east of the Great Lakes. I have our daily vehicles done every fall by a local shop. It's messy, but it sure does work. I didn't put anything on my 1984 Flareside as it pretty much lives indoors and is only outside on sunny days. The 1980 Flareside I'm working on now will get sprayed...it will likely be living outside in the elements, and the whole point of this truck is to be able to drive it in the rain, and use it like a truck. The Fluid Film I just purchased is mainly for the frame/chassis/axles, etc. I will be coating everything with it. Had a couple nasty days recently so decided to make a run to pickup some items I'd been watching on marketplace. No real plans for either at the moment. Was nice to get out in the truck for a couple hours since I haven't been putting many miles on it lately. My wife wants some decorations powder coated so needed to clear out the blasting cabinet. Which meant that the load sensing valve finally got coated. See here for more photos if interested I wasn't really planning on reinstalling it but the new diff cover won't work with the mount anyways so it will go on the shelf. I want to get it all reassembled though so nothing gets lost. Should I rub the orings with brake fluid before reinstalling? Or something else? Speaking of the diff cover, it finally arrived (see post in For Sale section for some discussion) Hopefully will get it installed soon and change out the front diff fluid while I am at it.
  10. Wonder why it did not work with the jumper Then again if the PO did all the wiring mess then I can see it not working Dave ---- Very good! I agree with Dave - odd that the jumper wire didn't work. Maybe it just wasn't seated fully. Either way, you're much better off now.
  11. I went with the Blue Seas 1039. They have a couple different mounting options.
  12. I've never done one myself but would really like to. Timing didn't work out for me on this build but next time I hope it does. Others will have better personal experience and suggestions but at one time I had some ATSG manuals saved on eBay. Seemed like that manual is well received. I didn't get far enough to settle on a rebuild kit but I recall looking at the TCI offerings (I use their pan). Sorry - I don't have much advice to offer on the rebuilding itself but just wanted to mention the diy route as a possibility since time isn't an issue. Either route taken, I am looking forward to your project
  13. Welcome! As Jim stated, the swap is very doable and sounds like you've got all you need. Just to entertain sticking with the auto - not sure where you are located but that sounds high for a drop off rebuild. Mine was something like 750 and most of that was labor. If you feel like rebuilding it yourself, out of pocket wouldn't be too bad.
  14. After a few months of waiting, this showed up on the door step. Really impressed with the build quality and this thing has some serious heft to it. While I am swapping out the bolts to match the rest of the truck, the hardware they provide looks very nice and compliments the cover well.
  15. Agreed - that safety loop is nice to have and a bonus of being able to unscrew the bolt and replace the bushing without having to slit it.
  16. That's really surprising. Does the catalog show different trim pieces? 86 - passenger side
  17. Where are you buying the magnalugs from? I've always ordered mine from zoro but haven't priced elsewhere in awhile.
  18. As long as it shows it as an F150 I wouldn't be bothered by it. Cab swaps are pretty common around here - I had one all lined up before I shipped Camano in from Dane's neck of the woods. Just sold that cab and title a couple weeks ago actually to a guy doing the same. It's definitely something a prospective buyer should inquire about though as if done wrong, could lead to a hassle.
  19. Yeah, that was hard with words and my rough sketch may not much better. Between the last two photos I wasn't sure just how close the post was to the plastic but if right up against it, then the thickness of the insulator may be a nonstarter. Dotted line is the insulator. Flipping the magnalug from the back to the front to line up the offset of it Space between lug and post just for visual separation of objects
  20. Nice. Hard to see how it all lines up but those insulators I linked to in the Camano thread should cover that. May need to put the terminal on the other side of the post though to get the "hump" of the terminal more in line with the post so the insulator can be rotated 90 degrees from what is normal. With #2 the insulator may have enough play so it will cover as is though.
  21. That's neat. I really like seeing things like this but always wonder how long will the app be maintained? Will there come a point when it isn't and the mobile/table OS drops legacy support for it?
  22. That is incredible! Well done. Each picture got more and more impressive.
  23. That will forever be the association I make when seeing that text. Hate to guess how many times I watched that vhs.
  24. You should have a pretty good supply of the early ones between you and Vernon http://forum.garysgaragemahal.com/Door-handle-boots-E0TZ-10226A06-A-NOS-td45035.html
