  1. Time flies Some more photos I just took of the backs of them.
  2. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1095058-digital-clock-6.html#post12699722 There's the thread that talks about the trailer rubber plug on the 80. Didn't see any photos so hard to be certain.
  3. I may not have been clear on that. None were hardwired into the truck but the first was hardwired at the clock end. I've read that the first iteration had a 'trailer' type plug where it connected to the truck's harness. I have all 3 kinds out in the shop but the end of the 80's harness was cut so I can't confirm the connection to the truck harness.
  4. Looking here the cutoff build date for the odd plug (first iteration) is 12/80. Assuming your 81 was after that you should have the plug already present to the right of the ash tray. Shame most listings have the harness cut when there is no need to do so whatsoever.
  5. And both are the second iteration of the clock. Metal body but with the plug at the unit vs hardwired.
  6. Coming in late and looks like Gary has you covered but I've got a SC headliner sitting in the back of Camano's bed in the shop right now and can provide anything if still needed.
  7. I've added you to my jy list for the next time I go if you don't get any before then.

  9. Thanks guys. 3/8 was the measurement of the ring from the jumper wire I picked up at the same time that I ordered the starter (wasn't sure if I wasn't going to keep the factory wiring setup or not). That measurement may be a little wider than the ring but I want to give myself some room for the rubber covers. The instructions that come with the starter list a few gauges depending upon length and 1/0 is one of them so seems like there is a solution out there. Waiting on a call back from them now.
  10. Started making the cables the other day. The magna lugs with the 16ton crimper come out really nice. My issue is with the PMGR starter battery terminal. It is located close enough to the solenoid terminal that the magnalugs are too wide. Really, anything I find for 1/0 is too wide. The smallest QuickCables offers is .73 for 1/0. I need something in the 5/8 width range so that I can then have something in the 3/8 range for the solenoid (#10 wire) terminal. Does such a ring exist?
  11. The hitch location affects the weight distribution. Nice find on the trailer.
  12. Not the OP but it will follow the same rules as any insulation - slows the transfer of heat between sides. So in hot weather it will keep the reduce the hot body panels from soaking in and in cold weather it will reduce the interior heat from leaching out. Not sure what the reasoning on the other forums is but in any climate, there is benefit. If nothing else, the sound deadening properties. I say do it, especially the doors.
  13. Thanks Dane. I am about an inch short on the latch side but four inches long on the vent side. Also shown is the gap where I'd expect it to fully seat in the vent channel. The yellow wedge tool is shown in the gap. If this is just how the aftermarket ones fit that's fine, just want to make sure mine matches others in case I did get the wrong one in the package.
  14. I began installing the window run felt the other day. Started by lining up the corner with no felt into the point where the vent window touches the top of the door. Looks like there is a few inches hanging down below the bottom of the vent window channel. Normal? Also the lip of the felt doesn't fully seat against the edges of the channel like I'd expect. Will add a photo shortly. It is the Fairchild 80-86 set but the extra length has made me wonder if I was sent the next gen.
  15. If you are just looking for some photos of carpet in a Bullnose, check out the Picture Gallery under Documentation. Here's a similar color example: http://www.garysgaragemahal.com/1984-ford-f-150-xlt-pickup.html (scroll down a ways)
  16. Yeah, not a huge deal. Really the only reason I even thought of asking about it was because I believe it was Jim who has had issues with the outer skin cracking somewhere in that area. That may have nothing to do with the bolt/bracket though. Fwiw it is an m4-.7 bolt. Dave - these are the ones that came out of the truck so no concerns with fitment (already back in actually ). Not sure when the bracket first appeared. There is a hole on the outer skin for it and I'll need to look at the mirror gasket but I'd assume there is a hole in it also for clearance.
  17. Was there ever a bolt put into the vent window little bracket under the mirror? On all the ones I've looked at it is empty. If not, any benefit to adding one before installing the mirrors? Also, is this the same hole in the door that power mirrors used for cable routing and those wouldn't have had the bracket at all?
  18. Thanks guys! Exactly what I was hoping to hear. I figure if it can handle 2 devices, it can handle 3. I was going see about using a 16k sensor but if factory uses 8k I'll stick with that.
  19. Oh yeah, those look great. They have a definite 80's feel to them. I agree Gary, most wouldn't give them a second glance at not being factory.
  20. That's my complaint also - they look too 'bubbly'. If they were squared off, I'd be interested for a future project.
  21. It is 8000 ppm (or, more specifically 8 pulses per revolution). I have one of these speed sensors that I plan to use for an input to an aftermarket cruise control system. I contacted Rostra at the time, and they confirmed that I could use it and that it was indeed 8000 ppm. I'll be installing mine sometime between now and the spring. Thanks Cory. Wonder if that's the only value the factory cruise can accept or not. The followup question is how many devices can a single vss feed? Normally I wouldn't think it had a practical limit but I read something about a person having issue with 2 devices whereas some gauge manufacturers say it's fine.
  22. These have been around for a number of years but hadn't seen them mentioned in awhile. https://classicdash.com/product/ford-truck-1980-1986-dash-panel/ Quite a few gauges to choose from at different price points. Not really to my taste but I can see the appeal. Anyone have one?
  23. Does anyone know what the ppm for the speed sensor is? Specifically the 86 one that is integrated into the cable end although the inline one should also be the same. Found an online reference that Ford uses 8000 ppm as a standard but didn't see it in the book anywhere. Also, does it matter? Does the cruise control care about the ppm value or just ensuring that it remains the same when cruise is enabled? So can it be 4,8,16, 64 or 128k and not care?
