  1. Sven, you are now on the map. Yes, there are some neat places there. The little village with the night watchman was Rothenburg, I assume you know. Beautiful truck! Some American serviceman brought it over?
  2. Yep, that's what it says. As for what I did today, I did a bit of media blasting. Scott/WelderScott is coming over tomorrow to blast and powder coat his brake calipers, so I thought I ought to get the few parts I have ready. Here's the power steering bracket, the fasteners and hold-downs for the batteries, and the bracket and fasteners for the coolant recovery tank. Oh yes, another thing I did today was to make the whatever-you-call-it that's the 2nd from top thing in the right pic. It sorta is a j-bolt, like the three of those in the pic. But that one goes into a hole in the aux battery bracket with a nut on the bottom and one on the top above the hold-down. And it is threaded 1/4-28 like the j-bolts so I can use the stainless wing nuts I ordered today. (Thanks again, Jim.) And, speaking of the j-bolts, those rascals are .205" in diameter. Yes, exactly the same as the minor diameter of 1/4-28 threads. So how do they put those threads on there? At first I thought they rolled them on, but that displaces metal up. And in this case there's no metal to displace up. Is the blank larger where the threads go? In any event, it sure makes it hard to put more threads on a j-bolt. The die falls off! In closing, the bracket on the left is to be coated with Silver Lining and the stuff on the right will be in Gloss Black.
  3. Welcome!!!! Glad you joined! Franconia! Been there a few times. My wife and I drove up the Romantic Strasse and stayed in the little village with the night watchman. Cool tour! Then a couple of years later we took a cruise down the Danube starting at Nuremberg, but stayed a couple of days ahead of the start of the cruise and thoroughly loved it. So, where do you call home? We have a map (Bullnose Forum/Member's Map in the menu) and would be happy to add you if we had a city/village. As for the V8 sound, that 460 sure can put out neat tunes! Looking forward to getting mine back to making sweet music. On posting pics, read about that on the page at Bullnose Forum/Forum FAQ's in the menu.
  4. I'm not into trucks with a 9" lift, but that guy has a TON of money in that truck and won't get but half of it back at the $17,500 BIN price.
  5. My turn! He was reflecting on his purchase! And, isn't that a good reflection on him! You guys are FUNNY!
  6. That would do it! Ouch! So, what caused that is the question. I looked back over your posts and don't see where I asked you where you live. Nor did I ask if you want on the map. I ask now 'cause I think the Kum & Go chain is local to me in the Tulsa area. Looking at their map for this area they go as far west as Stillwater, NE to Mount Vernon, MO. And SE to Fort Smith, AR. So, where are you?
  7. Wow! Excellent prices. I've purchased several things from them and have always been very pleased. Excellent prices & cheap shipping.
  8. Well done! You'll be driving it soon, with no lugging at speed and lots of power at WOT.
  9. I wish they would just put what they want to get out of them and have applicable shipping costs. Insulting to what intelligence I have! Agreed!
  10. Right. The tailgates for a an F100 were the same as for an F350 - within a given year. The difference is that the 1980 - 82 tailgate had metal straps to hold it on and the 1983 - 86 had cables. That's explained here: Documentation/Exterior/Beds & Tailgates and then the Tailgates tab and the Changing Tailgates tab.
  11. Little by little you are getting it sorted. Bumper looks good. Spring bushings can be a pain, but I used a piece of large all-thread as a puller and it worked. Others burn the old one out.
  12. Good progress! And, borrowing Jim's line, progress is GOOD!
  13. Yes, I was thinking about your dash pad, Shaun. And I can't imagine a casual shipper being that much more careful than you. Then there's the shipping company, which is going to toss it around. I'm not into spending anything like $100, much less $200+, on a used pad. And shipping isn't an option in my book.
  14. I agree that Amazon isn't always accurate. And I'll side with a driveshaft shop when it comes down to deciding between them and Amazon. After all, I got a caster/camber eccentric from Amazon that said it was something like an A/C switch. In this case they asked me for a pic of the innards of the double-cardan joint. And the key was if there was a grease fitting. Those take one size of part and the ones without take another size. Amazon says one part fits all. As for the horn, it certainly is RED! But I'm not sure it is taunting me. I think it'll taunt whomever is right ahead of Big Blue.
  15. Dan - Glad you joined. Finally. Where's home? We have a map (Bullnose Forum/Member's Map in the menu) and we could add you if we had a town or zip. BEAUTIFUL truck! Are you sure it is an '84? I ask because I had an '82 with the same paint scheme, and it was an Explorer as well. Looked exactly like yours. But, the 6.9L didn't come out until '83, so it obviously can't be an '82. The Explorer package was only offered a short period of time each year, so they aren't common.
  16. I was just about to buy the first set of red ones, but they want $55 for shipping! I think I need one side for Dad's truck and $60 for a pair wasn't bad. But $110 is a completely different thing.
  17. Yes, they are. But with the shipping they are getting pretty costly. I wonder how likely they are to crack during shipping?
  18. Nice looking. Would love to have it on Big Blue. But a can of SEM applied to the Coverlay cover that Vernon supplied will work nicely, but a lot less money.
  19. And, it was intended for him by his previous owner. It is fitting.
  20. That I can agree with. Good one for Big Blue?
  21. Pretty looking or pretty sounding. Surely not both.
