  1. That makes two of them! Just ask David/1986F150Six on Monday. Janey has wanted another one of those for quite some time. And at one point I had one as well. So.....
  2. Today I received the 1986 version of Ford's Standard & Utility Parts Catalog in paper form. Next week I hope to scan it and put it on the site. However, that is going to take some planning as it is ~300 pages long and the whole file might be 500 Mb in size. I could break the file up into sections but I'm not seeing a logical way of doing that as Ford mixed things up pretty effectively. For instance, there are standard bolts and there are special bolts, and they are in two different sections. But when we have a part number we aren't going to know if it is standard or special. So I'm thinking the best way to put it on the site is in one big file. But I'd like your input. I think this thing is really going to be helpful, but I want to get it right the first crack out of the box. Here are the first two pages, which gives you a feel for what is in there. Thoughts, please?
  3. His and hers, and they'll fit in the back of Big Blue.
  4. Glad you got it running smoothly. I'm going to guess that the lugging is a TV cable/rod adjustment. You know the adjustment is in the FSM section here, right? Documentation/Driveline/Transmissions/Automatic Transmissions/AOD.
  5. That's a GOOD idea! You'd know which circuit it is immediately.
  6. Thanks, Jim! I asked my consultant whether I should PC the hold downs black or leave them aluminum and she was on the fence. But when I showed her the results she said it was the right thing to do. It made them look smaller.
  7. PLEASE go check! I think there may be two Honda Trail 90's in the pic below. The two with their front tires almost touching. Janey wants one, and it would be COOL to have two of them. You buy them for a song and we'll come get them.
  8. Matt's 5 hours ahead of you two, and 6 ahead of me. So we can give him a few more ideas to kick around. I'd suggested pulling the fuses and pulling the fuse links. But you are right, Jim, something is pulling serious current. And just checking the heat isn't a very scientific way to test. I think I'd be inclined to pull the fuse links off the starter relay first and then test from each fuse link to the relay with a test light. With the doors closed so there's no dome light, and assuming he doesn't have an underhood light, he might get a dim glow off the main fuse link for the radio's keep-alive circuit or the clock. But it shouldn't come on full brightness if it is an incandescent test light. If he has one that lights it fully then that's where I'd start investigating. If it is the main feed to the fuses, then start pulling them and testing.
  9. Rob - Thanks! I certainly like that Silver Lining powder. Jim - Sorry, but we forgot to take pics of his calipers. I'd explained how you taught me that it is easy to rebuild calipers and he asked if we could powder coat them. I told him we could, and he asked if 10 minutes would be enough to blast them. I suggested more than an hour and to expect to spend half a day doing the whole thing. He got here at 9 and left at 1:30 and then came back for 30 minutes at 5:30. But he has pretty calipers. They were sludged up pretty badly inside, so he spent quite a while cleaning the calipers and the all-metal pistons. Then a long time blasting the calipers, and almost no time coating them with powder before popping them in the oven. And yes, he did an excellent job on Big Blue's crossmember. I really appreciate that, and enjoy working with him. However, he said today that of all the things we've done together, he likes media blasting the least. And, he said he now has a new-found appreciation for people who powder coat all the parts on a truck. I'll take that as a compliment.
  10. Don't forget that Matt's in England. That's why he said "Rusty, i dont have very good access to Eastwood products here".
  11. That looks like one of the connectors to the ignition module. Show me the wire colors?
  12. Matt - Thank you. I appreciate your thoughts. That's valuable input.
  13. As said, WelderScott came over and we powder coated. I got the battery hold downs and fasteners as well as the brackets for the coolant reservoir and power steering/air conditioning. Here's the power steering/air conditioning bracket on the truck: And here's the battery hold downs as well as the coolant recovery reservoir bracket:
  14. Looking good, Matt. On the charging issue, do you think there's a relationship with the hot wires?
  15. Maybe a firing order issue for the roughness?
  16. I can't tell, but is that a 460? The brackets look like the sheet metal ones that were on the 351M & 400. I say that because of the adjusting bolt I can see in each of the pics. But I'm really struggling to make out where the A/C compressor goes. That has to be from a van with the Sag pump, but it doesn't look like what I'm seeing in the MPC.
  17. Matt - Glad you caught that now! As for what runs there, have you seen the new page I added yesterday: Documentation/Electrical/Wire Routing? See the Main Wiring tab, which has an illustration of the back of the instrument panel. But there are a LOT of things that run there. Everything that goes from one side of the engine compartment to the other goes through there. For instance, the yellow wire that is shown as "37 in the schematic below runs there. (I know you have a Bronco and I'm pretty sure you have gauges, but this schematic shows that wire better than the other one does.) It goes from the starter relay to just above the steering column on the engine side of the firewall. If you have an aux battery or the trailering package you'll have either a relay or a junction block there. Anyway, check to see that that wire isn't pinched or shorted somehow. The right side headlight wires go through there, as does power to the A/C blower switch. Basically anything going to the right side of the vehicle. I would pull the fuses and see if one of them solves the problem. But if not then I'd pull the fuse links off the starter relay, one at a time and see if one of them solves the problem. Good luck!
  18. Don't know what changed, Scott. But this one is yours if you want it. However, I think your plan is a good one. Jim - Wasn't the 460 available in the van then? However, if the pulley was for it I would have thought it would be E1UZ rather than E1TZ. Dunno.
  19. See if you are in about the right place.
  20. I have this one that is on BB's old engine. Looks like E1TE-DA. Want it?
  21. Show a pic? And, what's the ID#? Maybe I have one?
  22. We don't want people pulling up to the front door, so close is just about right.
