If getting the pin out is the goal then I think PB Blaster and heat might work. But there's not much to get hold of on that pin, so it doesn't look easy. I looked the factory service manual section on door glass (Documentation/Body/Front Door Window Glass & Mechanisms) over and don't see a discussion of that. -

Chris - Have you looked at the map? There are some others in your area, although none “next door”. But you could email them via the forum. To do that click on their pin on the map and then the email link. But note that the email system doesn’t always appear to work, although it usually does work. So to know if it does tick the box that sends you a copy of the email.

Yes it does slide out for different width frames. If you look just to the inside of your marks there is 1 one bolt installed, hole where the other would be. You loose them and slide them out. As for it moving it out away from the truck if it does it should not be by much if any. After looking at it the tubes move in a arc and cant see it moving in or out. Just for you if I can remember I will take measurements LOL Dave ---- Yes, I saw the bolt and assumed it kept it from sliding. But if the arms slide out at an angle the back end has to move backward. I'm curious how much. I'll bet an inch. -

Interesting. Does the tubing slide in/out where the ovals are to adjust for width? If so and you slide it out farther won't that put the hitch farther to the rear? -

Ok, thanks. I didn't check for the piece today, but I'm pretty sure I have one. However, since it is part of a set I might order the one in from ebay that Shaun found and use it instead. As for what I got done today, I worked on the step brackets a bit. Turns out that the "flexible" brackets worked even when the mount points on the frame weren't exactly the right distance apart. But now that the rear bracket doesn't flex at all the step won't quite go on. So I'm going to have to slot the holes on the top and bottom where the bolts pass through to the 3" tubing so the mount can slide back and forth a bit. That should allow it to line up nicely. But I also got the radio installed and it appears to work, although I haven't taken the truck for a drive to see if it has any range now. And, I want to buy or make a magnetic clamp to put roughly where the red oval is in the pic below. It will just be to hold the coax so there's no stress on the connector and yet the coax won't be hitting the roof from wind. I'm thinking I can cut a piece out of a sheet magnet I have to just fit the bottom of one of the adhesive-backed cable tie points. Won't take much to hold it. But if anyone has a better idea, please let me know.

Well, for whatever reason you weren't on the map. But you are now. I'm not sure it is quite the right spot, but we really don't want to be too accurate as we don't want un-invited visitors. See what you think and I can move the pin if you want.

Gary, I have replaced three and it is not too difficult. It helps if done in warm weather and the plastic trim is allowed to be in the sun for awhile. Note that the beginning and ending point is centered at the bottom of the glass frame. I've read horror stories about changing out the whole window and weatherstrip, so didn't know if the chrome piece was a big part of the problem.

Welcome, Mac! Glad you joined. But at 65 you aren’t all that old. I’m 74 and there are two on here older than me - by a year or so. Where’s home? I ask because we have a map (Bullnose Forum/Member’s Map in the menu) and we can add you if we know the city or zip. As for the truck, I’ve not had to remove bedliner, but I can’t imagine it will be easy. . I would think it would take paint thinner or some such, and whatever paint is under it will be ruined as well. Good luck! But show us some pics?

Thoughts On New Approach, Please?

What would be particularly helpful would be a 1986, '87, '88, or '89 copy of the Master Parts Catalog in paper format. The reason is that the copy, singular, that the "big boys" have scanned and are selling are of the "Final" 1994 version. And Ford replaced things along the way with later parts - and deleted the earlier part numbers from the catalog. So we find parts that we don't know exactly what are. And a paper version since I can scan paper but can't do much with microfiche. However, I'd still be interested. I think it have an '82 and an '86 copy in microfiche.
