  1. That's excellent MPG for a strong engine like yours. And, good that you can take trips of that length w/o problems. Well done!
  2. Ok, Chris. Drive safely. And don't take the detours. We eat at 6:00.
  3. David - Drive safely! On Thu, Sep 13, 2018 at 3:20 PM 1986F150Six [via Bullnose Enthusiasts] <redacted_email_address> wrote:
  4. Wow! Wonderful!! You may well find lots of NOS parts. It may be a gold mine.
  5. Vinny - Sent you a text. We are home and I'm cleaning, preparing, etc. Come on by.
  6. Yes, I'll "walk" you through it. As background, while cameras have the ability to record their orientation in the metadata for each pic, most forum software doesn't have the smarts to utilize it. But, if you open the file in essentially any photo editing software it will read the data and when you save the pic it'll properly orient it. So, that's all I do - open and then save the file. And, since with this forum you can edit your own posts at any time, you can do that yourself.
  7. Bless this Ford, oh Lord, we pray, Keep her safe both night and day. Bless the one who holds the wheel, Those who ride - Your presence feel. In Your care, may she roam--------- through towns and wilderness------- then safely home. Very apropriate for the many Fords heading out in the very near future.
  8. Hopefully you have the ECU/ECM for the 5.8L as the firing order is different - I think. But other than that it should work. However, the wires to the injectors might be short as the 5.8L is wider, but using the '94 engine harness should fix that. But you also mentioned eliminating the cats. I'm not sure you can do that and keep the computer happy. Is there an O2 sensor aft of the cats? If so, I think it is going to detect that the cats are gone and throw a code. However, I'm not an expert on this, so will let others guide you.
  9. I went searching for iPhone issues and found this post. When I view the forum on my iPhone 8S, part of the forum screen is cut off. The upper part of the page appears to be centered OK, but the actual forum part itself is always cut off on the RH side. Is this a phone setting or a forum bug? Is this true in landscape mode or just in portrait? I have similar problems in portrait, as shown here: But if I turn it to landscape it works fine, like this: But does it do what he same for you?
  10. The stuff on vacuum has been on the site for quite some time. Someone asked the question way back when about what was needed and, having answered several times before, I decided to detail it out once and for all. But I'm glad it seems to have worked for you. Yes, please do come! We can talk Ford and the Lord, and worship together.
  11. Nice looking Bronco! Your daughter is going to be the envy of her classmates. On the vacuum, here's what I think is needed: Underhood/Vacuum Systems.
  12. Ooooh, that spare tire and wheel look great! Excellent upgrade. But, they do need covered. As for the NSS, see if this new page helps: Driveline/Transmissions/Automatic Transmissions/Neutral Start Switch.
  13. Herb! Glad you found us. And welcome! You'll have to start a thread about your truck in the main section and show us some pics. The 4.9L is a workhorse, and that F250 should make a good work truck.
  14. Vinny - We are still sorting out our plans for tomorrow. Have to go into Tulsa to 4WD Parts to get the swag they are giving us. And then stop by Sams for some things. But I'll call you in the morning when we have the plans nailed down. Thanks!
  15. I have a set of those D8 heads removed from my 1984 302, and I can't give them away...lol. They're in good condition too...only about 35k miles on them. If it was me and I was taking stuff apart anyway, I'd install the E7 heads. Even if you didn't port them or do any work to them, you'll get a nice bump in compression...half a point or more. If you were going to get any work done to them, consider sending them to Thumper...he is THEE guy for E7 head work. He can port them and install GT40 valves, etc. Then, you get the flow of the GT40 heads but with potentially higher compression. The only problem with that scenario is that by the time you buy the E7 heads and pay to port them, etc...you can come close to the cost of nice aftermarket heads. Some shops will do some light porting for a lower cost...like just smoothing them out a bit and removing the Thermactor humps. Still...even if you were just cleaning them up, I'd go with the E7 heads over the D8's all things considered. I wouldn't take the thing apart just to install E7 heads, but if you had it apart anyway... Others on here may advise differently. I agree, wholeheartedly. To reiterate: The D8's are the worst of the bad. E7's are less bad. Thumper can make the E7's into good heads. But by the time you have Thumper go through them you'll be within spitting distance of aluminum heads. Tim Meyer talked me out of using cast iron heads on Dad's engine because the cost was so close to aluminum heads. And, with aluminum you can run about 1 point more of compression on the same gas w/o knocking.
  16. You can search for those parts on the internet. But search both with and without the "-", meaning search for C5AZ 7B545-A" and "C5AZ-7B545-A". That's because some people aren't that switched-on and substitute a - for a space. As for delrin, it is a good material from which to make bearings or bushings. And the felt washer can be cut out of thick felt.
  17. First, you need to figure out if the 5.8L's EFI system is EEC-IV or EEC-V. If from a truck the odds are that it will be EEC-IV. The difference is that most EEC-IV systems are speed-density, and those systems assume that they know how much air is ingested into the engine based on throttle opening, RPM, and load/manifold vacuum. But, if you change much, like the cam, or heads, or exhaust then the computer won't know how much air is ingested and all of its calculations will be off and the engine won't run correctly. The EEC-V systems are mass air flow systems, meaning they have a mass air flow sensor and the computer really does know how much air is ingested because it is measuring it. On these systems you can make significant mod's and the engine will still run correctly. Something in the back of my mind tells me that some of the late EEC-IV systems might have been MAF, but I don't remember exactly. However, Bill Vose/85LebaronT2 should, so maybe he will chime in.
  18. That's cool. I don't find any mention of it in the master parts catalog. Perhaps it was a dealer thing. Or, a Canadian thing?
  19. Thanks for your interest. I'll set those aside for you. If you bring them I can put them in the attic tagged for Jonathan. Or, just wait until next year?
  20. Sorry for the loss of your father. That must have been traumatic. But, fixing something, like a burned truck, can be very theraputic. So, with the help of your family I'm sure this has been a big help. And, bringing the other truck to your house and offering to take it back was such a nice thing to do. Yes, it surely restored your faith in humanity. What do you have left on your to-do list?
  21. That's a good price for what might be a decent tranny.
  22. Ha! :) Maybe I'll take a detour through the Tundra and come out at Ralston (9-Mile Road or somesuch) and then make my way up (down?) to your place, that's actually kinda eerie out there when you hear the beating Indian drums way in the distance. But the insects can be horrifically large. On a different note, it looks like it's gonna be warm enough this year that fog out on the eastern plains shouldn't be a problem, it's too warm outside right now. Which reminds me... it was obscenely humid last year, is it that way again this year? Saturday is supposed to be 89 degrees. And while it won't be high humidity for us, it will be for someone from Colorado. But at least you won't have the fog.
  23. It is ~160 miles for most people from Wichita to Skiatook. But, with some of the ways you go it may be more like 200.
