  1. That is nice. I didn't realize there were Mercury pickups around until Robert Redford drove one in An Unfinished Life. A bit of research determined that they were Ford's but sold and/or built in Canada.
  2. Swapping in an EFI'd 460, or any EFI'd engine for that matter, isn't easy. I'm in the midst of planning exactly that for Big Blue, although I'm going EEC-V to get the OBD-II connection and sequential injection with mass air. You have to determine what functions from the original implementation you are going to keep and which you are going to ditch, and that will probably require some programming of the ECU. And then there are the fuel system issues. You can't use what the donor had and have the fuel gauge read correctly. You could convert to the '85/86 system for the Windsor engines, but that uses a part that is a known problem and also very expensive - if you can find it. But converting to a carb on a 460 from EFI requires different heads, intake, and exhaust. Or, at least an adapter to put a carb on an EFI intake. It isn't easy and it is complex.
  3. Tom - Welcome! Glad you like the format, and I’m sure you will like the people. We are friendly as well as helpful. And I’m sure we can use your help as well. 👍
  4. Nabble, and many others forums, doesn’t read metadata. So if your program does, let it orient the pic and then save it. Then if you post it it’ll be right.
  5. Steve - Check out the map to see if Google put you in the right spot. Bullnose Forum/Members Map.
  6. I've seen those lugs on the bottom of the frame, but not on the side. And when on the bottom they are to hold the frame, and then the vehicle as it is built, on the assembly line. I'd bet they are for the same thing. As for the pic, there's no way to rotate it in the forum. It has to be done externally. Most editing software will do that just by opening and then saving the file. It reads the metadata, recognizes the rotation, and adjusts
  7. Yes, you've made good progress! I really like keeping track as it is so easy to think nothing is getting done when it really is. Well done!
  8. Sorry for the delayed response. No, the TFI/EEC-IV system is not going to work well for you. That requires that all components in the emission system be functioning correctly, and you've already said much of yours has been removed. In that case the computer will lock ignition timing and there will be no advance beyond what you dialed in initially. And, as you can see from David's thread, you need both centrifugal as well as vacuum advance to perform correctly. So, you will either have to reinstall all of the removed equipment and get it working correctly, or change to the DS-II system. And I highly recommend the latter. You can prove that the computer has the timing locked by checking with a timing light. When you rev the engine you should see the timing advance, but I'm sure it won't, and if it doesn't the engine cannot run well.
  9. Glad you found us! Have you seen the info on my Ford truck show & swap meet on Sept 15th? It is in Skiatook, OK. That's just north of Tulsa. As for your truck, if you still have the ECM and the non-vacuum advance distributor then your performance isn't as good as it should be. That's because the ECM will know all the emissions stuff is not working and it will lock timing to 10* BTDC, which is the limp-home mode. So you really need to do the DS-II conversion to get better performance as well as economy.
  10. Excellent job, Pete! 👍
  11. LOL, I know. I do agree on the pictures though. Would be nice to see some other angles, the interior, under the hood etc. Imagine...I drove 250 miles to see the truck I have now, with no pictures in advance. Thank goodness it worked out. I've driven a long way to see some others as well, and they were usually much worse than advertised. Makes no sense to ask big bucks and not show lots of pics of all aspects of the vehicle.
  12. Jim - Thanks for the offer. I sent you an email with our address, so come on over when you get to town.
  13. Progress is good! And you are making good progress.
  14. I don't think that Ford installed that one. At least it isn't the way the EVTM and the master parts catalog depicts them, nor is it the way mine is installed on Big Blue. But, it is easy to remove it. The solenoid in the lower right corner of the pic is the key. It should be fed with a big hot wire from the starter solenoid on the passenger's fender. You can remove that link or just take the connection on the starter solenoid off. And then remove the cable from the 2nd battery to the solenoid on the driver's fender, and remove the battery. But, you need to ensure that none of the other wires are hot at any time. So take a volt meter and check things out. And, unless you just want to clean things up, you can leave everything else in place in the chance that you, or someone else, wants a 2nd battery later.
  15. Welcome! So glad you found us. I'll be following your work.
  16. Looks good to me. But then I'm more than 10' away. Seriously though, the silver does look good. It blends in.
  17. My misunderstanding. I thought you'd broken the welds. But, in any event, you are now getting better welds. And, it looks like the fishplates are well and truly on. And the bolted-on pieces won't hurt anything either.
  18. Mark/Dyn - That is good to know. Thanks for the well-done write-up.
  19. Does your friend work for CSC? I might know him. As for the airport police, that’s crazy! Long way from the airport.
  20. Wow, if dragging down the road breaks the welds then you do need a bit more penetration. Hope you got it at your mother’s. And, again wow! Those are loooong springs. Should be quite soft. Is that what you are looking for?
