  1. Today I scanned in the odometer reset instructions David brought me, OCR'd them, and then replaced the previous ones on this page: Electrical/Gauges. Thanks, David! And, while I was doing that there arose a discussion on FB about the printed circuits on the gauge clusters. So, I added this to the part numbers on that page. Note that there are two year ranges (1980 and 1981/86), and within the ranges there are circuits for clusters with warning lights, clusters with gauges but w/o a tach, and clusters with gauges with a tach. And, of course, if you are trying to ID one of those you want to look at the #'s in the Description column, not the part number column as the number on the part is not the part number.
  2. I'm pretty sure you can't swap in a box with a blue grommet and get it to run. As I tried to show here (Electrical/Ignition) the box with a yellow grommet is a computer-controlled unit, and the one with a blue grommet has no computer. To convert to the blue box you'd have to disable the computer, and then it probably wouldn't pass CA inspections. As for finding out what you have, it should have 3 plugs. And, as my page says, one of those should have either 2 or 3 wires to it. But, in looking at the 1981 EVTM I don't see a module with 3 plugs. Do you happen to have the 1982 EVTM? If so, maybe we can figure this out. Or, perhaps your module has a number on it that will match up to one on the Ignition page?
  3. Oh...well I meant functional as in how the thing was supposed to work when it was installed on the vehicle. How the vacuum is plumbed, etc. What do you mean by hot air on one manifold? Do you mean the little heat shroud that would have been on the passenger side exhaust manifold? Yes, the heat shroud and the accompanying tube that connects it to the air cleaner. To be factory functional you have to have some source of heat for at least one snorkel. But, if you live in an area which isn't plagued with carb icing then you might get by w/o it. On the other hand, you may be able to make a shroud that goes around part of your header to gather heat.
  4. Not sure what you mean by that. Both snorkels have vacuum motors. And you need at least the Air Cleaner Temp Sensor, if not the Cold Weather Modulator, and it all plumbs together as shown here: http://www.garysgaragemahal.com/air-cleaners.html. But, if you only have hot air on one exhaust manifold you'll want to block off the hot air port on the other snorkel. That way you'll only pull hot air from one side, and cold air from both.
  5. Ours would be TZ. BZ is the car line. Here's ours: And here are the cars, with "P" for a Mustang:
  6. Yes, nice! Gonna look good. Have you seen my discovery that using the original cold-air plumbing upside down will work to the driver's side of the radiator support? And, on the ones I've seen, there's a spot on there that can be cut out for cold air.
  7. Not sure that's the right one. The 1980/84 Explorer emblem is EOTZ 16850-B. And the kit that could be put on by the dealers is E3TZ 16850-A.
  8. I think everything is synergistic. The more people find the site the more it is suggested as solutions to problems on other sites. The more it is suggested the more people find it. I know that is happening because I've shared links to something on the site and can then see that page get viewed several times almost immediately from different locations. And I'm starting to see other people share links to the site as well. (I was all geared up to share a link to it the other day and someone beat me to it. ) Then some of those who find the site ask to join the forum. And they tell others.........
  9. Thanks, Jonathan. But to be accurate, these numbers don't represent forum membership. Instead they represent users going to any page of the garagemahal - which should include the forum itself. However, people can visit the garagemahal w/o being a forum member. Does that make sense? But, do I need to create a "forum members" chart? I can probably do that, albeit manually. (These charts get updated automagicaly.) I could just add to the chart each time we get a new member. As for the user numbers, supposed the New Users have never visited the site before. And I'm subtracting that number from Total Users to get Returning Users. So those are actual numbers, not percentages.
  10. If this is David’s truck... is it possible the second “unleaded fuel only” label is actually on his medium duty tach face? This is one place that I ~have seen the label and it would explain the redundancy: Bingo!
  11. Is this somewhat the opposite of "peeling the onion?" I would have said it is the same as peeling the onion. The traffic to the website is a big unknown. But the metrics are helping me understand what is driving them, from whence they come, etc. So each chart has one or two onion rings on it.
  12. And you can bet that only unleaded fuel goes into its tank! But, do you need two reminders, and in close proximity, to make sure you don't put any in? Or, would you like to simplify your dash? As for Lurch, when we were in France several years ago there was an SUV that we nicknamed Lurch. It was UGLY, and had a strange resemblance to that gentleman.
  13. Yes - step by step you can accomplish almost anything.
  14. There's a good friend, called Alabam by some, that has it both places on his little red truck.
  15. I think you have either a leak at the intake/head interface or the head/block interface. And the intake/head is the most likely as it isn't all that hard to get the intake on at an angle. Been there, done that. The head will sit down correctly on the block, but even with guide bolts it is possible to get the intake cocked a little bit, and that will cause a leak. So, that's my bet. And when it leaks there it runs down the head/block interface until it can cover over the back of the block and into the bell housing.
  16. I've been known to tape everything off and use my roll-around blast cabinet outside on a transmission. But getting one in my blast cabinet wouldn't be easy. Too heavy. Without a roll-around I'd use brake cleaner and brushes. I put a slip yoke in the output to seal it and something else on the input. Plus sealed the vent and all other openings.
  17. That's progress and, as Jim says, progress is good! Is the bottom that you are working on fiberglass or metal?
  18. Yep! I think I'd fly out to get that truck, sight unseen, and drive it back. Having said that, I'd get a lot more pics first as there were precious few in that advert.
  19. Gary, no there is no text on the filler plates. My truck has the "Unleaded Fuel Only" text, but it's on the main cluster black fascia panel (I think). I have a US cluster here that does not have the "Unleaded Fuel Only" text on it. Did some of them say Unleaded Fuel Only on the little filler plates? I'd send somebody one if they needed it...that's why I grabbed it. Yes, some of them said Unleaded Fuel Only, and one of our members has a truck that says so both places. I know 'cause I drove the truck and he pointed it out. Let's see if he rises to the bait.
  20. I'm glad you grabbed the manual filler as those getting hard to find. Does it say "Unleaded Fuel Only"? I know of someone who might be able to use one that doesn't as his dashboard seems to be doing its best to send him that message.
  21. In case anybody is interested, although unlikely, I've learned how to create a "dashboard" for the website and share it on here: Metrics. It isn't done by any stretch, but thought I'd tell you how it works and a bit about what I'm seeing. On the "how it works" front, I have a Google spreadsheet that has a Google Analytics add-on. That add-on allows me to set up reports, run them, schedule them, and even share them. And the reports can have any number of different parameters included in them, many of which are someone obtuse to me. To this point I've selected a few parameters to show on three charts, and the charts will be automagically updated between 2:00 and 3:00 each morning. And so far what I'm seeing is that in the early part of summer: Sessions and users started a significant increase. Hits, meaning the number of times that the website is found in a Google search, are on the increase as well. The number of returning users, meaning those who have been to the site before, is showing an upward trend, albeit a slow one. However, the number of new users, meaning those who've not been on the website before, is growing dramatically. I think the increases are probably due to your efforts directing people to the site. In addition, my having been introduced to the FORDification forum as well as the F100 Facebook page in early June seems to have brought a lot of traffic. And, somewhat simultaneously, I started helping a bit on several different Facebook pages, and the vast majority of my posts have included links to the site. So, keep up the good work! It is obviously having a positive effect in our effort to help people with Bullnose trucks. And, if you can think of another way to look at the data please let me know.
